Do any of you Ironman veterans have the Mdot tattoo? or are any of you doing one for the first time thinking of getting one? If so, where to put it? I meant to answer you on this, as I have one ! It is on my right calf. |

Member 258 | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed I like the tatoo, Ken! I've personally liked the tatoos I've seen that incorporate the M dot into another image. I have a BT site question. I am using a BT training plan for my HIM and have imported it into my Planned Training. Is there a way to move the workouts around from day to day? Every week I have to move my workouts around shifts, etc. Also this is a 12 week plan but I have 16 weeks until the HIM, which I thought was good because I also have 3 shorter races between now and then so I figured I'd give myself a few days to rest and recover around each of the shorter races. Alas, I might be staying a pencil and paper kind of triathlete... |

Alas, I might be staying a pencil and paper kind of triathlete... In the old version, there was a planned training calendar. You could drop and drag the workouts to the day you wanted them. I am not using a BT plan this season so I am not sure if that is still an available option or not. I imagine it is as it was a popular add on when they did it. I chose the flag with the mdot as it was done after I did Lake Placid which is official called IM USA. Thanks! |

Pro 5123 Canandaigua NY | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed I just looked and the planned training calendar is still available. Click on the training log link at the top and on the drop down choose My Training Plan. At the top of the list of days is an option for a planned training calendar. I didn't have anything there to move, but try that Jaime, maybe you can move yours around there. |

New user 160 | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed Great tattoo, Ken! And best of luck in your double this weekend, I'm sure you'll do great! I definitely plan on getting an M-dot tattoo after Louisville, but I don't know if I'll go with the simple traditional one, maybe one with a Fleur de lis as the dot, since that's Louisville's symbol...or maybe something with a swim/bike/run figure incorporated. We'll see. Probably on the back of my shoulder. I had a great swim this morning--I beat 30 minutes for a mile for the first time ever! I did it in 29:18. We were doing a 30 minute straight swim test, and my goal for months has been to get my mile under 30. I had a pacer (the coach's wife swam in college and is great at holding a pace), so that helped. It felt like race conditions (without the arms and legs to battle), because I went out too fast, but I did that on purpose. Normally I start conservatively, but not in a race--I always start faster than my pace and then settle into it. So that's what I did this morning. It was tough, and took about 800 yards to calm myself down and get my breathing under control. Of course I was anxious the whole time, trying to keep up with the pacer and wondering how I was doing. In the middle I slowed a bit, but I never went slower than 1:49/100, which is great because my comfort pace is 2:00/100. I still think my goal of 1:15 in Louisville might be out of reach, but I feel more confident after this morning. And I wasn't exhausted at the end, even though I was working hard the whole time. I am also looking forward to a long ride tomorrow--5 hours followed by a 1 hour run, which will be my longest transition run yet (after that long of a bike). We were supposed to get hit with a tropical storm from the gulf, but it has fallen apart, so the rains should hold off for most of the ride. Happy Friday all, and good luck to all who are racing this weekend! |

When I get to work I will look up the others racing this weekend. Looks like lots of racers this weekend! Have a great one (or two) Ken, and everyone else! I may or not do a sprint that I registered for. I haven't been training and I have a birthday thing for someone Saturday night and I haven't had much quality time with the family, etc. So, who knows, I'll pack for the race and then decide Sunday morning. The one thing that draws me is it was my first tri two years ago, with a repeat last year. So If I do it, I get a 3 season benchmark. Nice IM tatoo, but leave room for Norseman Training plans - the new site makes it very easy to move things around once you import the plan. Training Log (dropdown)/My training plan/Click on My Planned Calendar. Then you can drag and drop where ever you want. It was a lot more convoluted in the old site. |

Veteran 253 Omaha, NE | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed TGIF!! Good luck this weekend everyone!! I'm hoping for good weather & speedy times for you all! Personally I'm not much of a tatoo person so I probably won't get one after the Ironman. My cousin has one on the inside of her wrist that is just " 140.6". I like that, & if I was tempted to get one after, I would probably do something similar. On the road to WI for hopefully lots of good training on the course. I'm trying to get psyched up for a hilly ride tomorrow. Does it make sense that I'm excited & dreading it at the same time? |

Elite 3515 Romeoville, Il | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed I'm in the "was supposed to race" category for this weekeend. I'm going to do some riding/swimming. Helping out a friend and going with on a long ride for her training for Steelhead HIM. Also going to watch my dad run a 5k at US Cellular field. It'll be a challenge to fit it all in this weekend! We have house guests from Boston staying with us next week coming in on Monday. I'll be on vacation next week from work, but playing hometown tourist with our guests. Good like guys/girls!!! Some big races this weekend. Go out and kill it!! |

New user 160 | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed I decided not to race the sprint--forgot to take it off the sheet. I weighed the pros and cons and realized it was causing me more stress worrying about missing long workouts, and I can't practice long race nutrition on a sprint, or mimic IM transitions, so I'll do my long brick and long run Sunday. However, we have a new local sprint triathlon series that I will likely go watch or volunteer for Sunday morning because our triathlon group is involved. So that will be fun! Have a great weekend everyone! |

Master 1539 Sin City | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed Wow!! Lots of racers this weekend!! Best of luck to everyone! Question: Anyone have a recommendation of a fan to use for trainer rides? Lately I've been doing more and more trainer rides, and I notice that my HR gets a little higher the last 30 minutes or so than the start, even though it's the same intensity, same type of intervals, and I feel like I'm working harder, and I start to fall apart a little bit. It wasn't until today's ride that I realize that it's because I'm sweating a LOT, and I'm getting more heated as the ride goes on. So I need to get a fan to cool me down as I ride. I had to stop a couple times today...funny because it was "Meh...it was okay." ride, however, my cadence avg increased by 4 rpm, but still keeping in the same power zone. So I'm happy about that take-away. :D I don't want to spend crazy amount of money, but would like a good one. Thanks and BEST of luck again!! I wanna see those RR's! |

Be safe and have fun and hurry back to post your race reports. I am just doing a little sprint in the morning. It has a super short swim, a bike course that I got misdirected on last year. and a nice run on the rails to trails trail. And best of all, there is the most fabulous pizza place nearby where we will stop for lunch afterwards. It has been so long since I have had pizza, I almost think I am looking forward to that more than the race!! Karen |

Expert 1146 Chugiak, Alaska | Subject: RE: kenj triathletes in training - IM and HIM focused - Closed GOOD LUCK to everyone racing Saturday and Sunday!!!!!! I will be run/walking with my 2 kids for their first ever 5k! Followed by the local parade/carnival. So excited for them!! Hubby will be gone doing a century ride/race in the Alaska range. I did a grueling 2 1/2 hour trail run today - feeling good now, not so much when I was done. I think nutrition/hyrdation was off. It was hotter than usual (in the 70's!). I will have company for most of the next 3 weeks starting tomorrow night. Really excited for next week as we have a salmon drift boat charter on the Kenai River and then up to Denali Nat. Park. Will be hard to get my marathon miles in, but I hopefully will get lots of hiking in! |
