Hey team..its been awhile! I always tell myself not to go more than a day without logging onto BT and of course the complete opposite happens! First off: Nicole and Isabelle you are definitely in my thoughts! I can't imagine what the two of you are going through!  As for the rest of the group....it must be that time of year when everything seems as if it is all crumbling down!  It will pass!  I've been in a rut myself lately, but keep looking towards that bright light where I know everything will be better!!!

So I got into my swim class.  Im still waiting on my suit to arrive via mail.  Im planning on doing tuesday/ thursday morning workouts (5:30-6:45a) YIKES!!

My very gracious boss is giving me a free membership to his gym!  It is a competitive athletic training zone. CATZ for short. You wont find a single treadmill or elliptical or stepper in this place. No mirrors, no frills. Instead there is a 50m rubber track, huge turf section where drills are performed, and dumbells ranging from 8-75lbs. There are a ton of stability balls and boxes(for jumping). I am so stoked!! Last night was the re-grand opening so I went along with the family, and got to watch what a real workout looks like. Lets just say that I will be DYING the first 2 weeks!  these people were pouring sweat while throwing medicine balls and doing backwards sprints! can we say hardcore?! I am so excited!  Im going to hop into the M/W night class and aim to get myself to the Friday class too.  I dont want to overdo it with the swimming and these hardcore workouts!  Hope everyone is staying on track!

sounds like you have taken off! good for you Monica! and thanks for checking in. We just worry when we do not hear from you all. So remember lets all try and check in three times a week...I understand those times you are unable...but if you can most weeks that would keep us updated and you should also be able to keep up with everyone elses training and needs....and remember to go to each others blogs and see what they are doing or what they may not be doing and leave inpiring messages.....we "ALL" need those and there is nothing better then opening up your blog to log a run, bike ride or swim and to see messages from your teammates. If you want me to show you how to include pictures in the messages....ask...I am happy to show you! nothing more fun then to find a great cartoon or inspiring joke and send it along with a message to get someone moving. have a great afternoon you guys...I am going to swim.....wish I had a counter...anyone want to loan me thiers?

I might have to look into getting a lap counter. Anything over 10 laps and I'm just guessing. I might have to bring my toes into the equation, just so I can get up to 20.:-)

Of course that would mean I would have to get back in the pool. It's been a few months.

maybe we can get a discount on a group of the counters!? that way you can free your hands and toes up for that great catch you will be doing in the water. and I will go swim if you go! I have been putting it off too! deal???

Deal! I like the avatar.

Me too, me too!

I'm going to be AWOL (again) until Tuesday.  I'm head to Maui this weekend with my fiance and his family.  It's going to be a party.  But, I'll be back.    I may even bring back some pictures to share.

Naners, how fun ! I am so waiting for pictures !

Monica, how awesome ! You really are taking exercising by the .......(can I say "balls"?) 'cause i do not mean it in an ucky way ! lol  I just I just feel I should say "GRRRRRRR".... growl or something 'cause you are an ANIMAL !!!!! WOOOHOOO

Ok, on to my ring lap counter. I LOVE IT, very easy to get used too although I have big hands, not dainty pretty hands.......so I am not sure how it would feel on small fingers.  I wear it on my pointer finger facing my thumb and then press the button with my thumb.  I think I am supposed to start it when I swim.......then push it when I get back and that should be 1, but today I waited until I had gone on lap before I pushed it.......so missed out on it being counted for time (doh) !

HIGHLY recommend them, I will still have to see how it does the fastest lap/slowest lap etc.  Honestly I have no idea what a "split" is...... being a rookie at times makes me feel so dingy ! lol

Still chilly in here !

I had the most awesome advice from Naners ! I had itchy skin so bad from chlorine and she told me she uses neutrogena oil and it helps her. THANK YOU SO MUCH !

So today i went to the Y to swim, got all soaked in the shower (advice from the bb so that the chlorine does not soak in).... then I swam and took a shower.  After I'd dried off I used oil (I could only find Palmers moisturising oil at our CVS).  I not only do not reek of chlorine, but I do not have dry itchy skin !!! I had tried TONS  of lotions......never even thought of oil

SO HURRAY NANERS !!!! You are my hero !!

chipit muffin - 2009-01-22 3:34 PM i wanna know how to put the lovely pictures in the inspires please!

1) you have to copy pictures into your album...make sure they are sized to web or email size pics...I can get the specs size if you need them. most of you have a photo wizard and you can use that...if you do not have one or can not find one...let me know.

to copy into your album download pics to your computer or copy and have them sized and in a file...then go to your training log and right below your avatar is an icon that says ALBUM...click there and you will see actions with a link to create and edit your video albums. click that link.

2) fill in and create an album...start uploading pictures by hitting the browse button - you then go to whereever you placed your file and start uploading the pictures and cartoons you have in the file...

3) to add a picture to an inspire message - go to the album and decide which picture you would like to use...click on it...right click and highlight the bottom word "properties".

4) a box should have popped up with lots of info..all you want is to go to the address area and copy (highlight and control C) the entire link...usually two lines...

5) go to the blog and type your message....if you plan on leaving a message along with the picture...

6) to add picture: type the following

and directly after the equal sign you will paste (control V) the address you copied off of the properties box.

directly after the address you just copied...you will place a closing bracket > make sure that you do not leave a space...the

does this sound like a foreing language! it did to me at first...but now it is like a second nature to me....I suggest you just try a few...you can always delete the message if it messes up...sometimes it will show an red x in a box and not the picture that means you either mistyped the first two words or you left a space....practice....so that you do not have to go and download pictures...I have left a few of my property addresses for you to practice with...

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=92802

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=93038

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=92796

ok there are a few for you to practice with.....hope this was helpful and you will soon be teaching others like I am on how to do this!

remember to add the following before each link:

<img (a space) src=  <---if I did not type the a space inbetween it was coming up as an error box....make sense?

and at the end:

> (NO SPACES - except between img and src)

I did one on this page with out using the picture button or icon...you can do this in emails...or other blogs...very useful! have fun!!!!!!

Hi gang!

Well, I got into the gym today because I was able to have my step daughter stay home and watch the boys.  They're still sick, but slowly getting better.  I'm hoping by next week we'll be back on track.

Soooo.... the gym today.... remember I told you about my sadistic trainer?  He made me do 10-15 push ups after EVERY exercise.  Total count for my one hour training session?  200 pushups.  Yep, you read that right.  The first 55 were on my toes, the next 135 were on my knees, then he made me do the last 10 on my toes again.  He stood up on a piece of equipment and yelled out the last 10 for the whole gym to hear.  I think he's going to make me do those every time now.

Swimming on Monday.  I need nose plugs.  I'm not very excited about snorting half the pool again.  I really like the idea of the counter.  I wonder if they'll give a discount for a bulk order.

I think I'm going to try to get an outdoor run in this weekend.

Hey there group. Just wanted to touch base and let you know how things are going.

First of all thank you for all your inspires and well wishes. I am feeling much better each day and I'm starting to feel stronger, also I will add that I dropped 5 lbs since Sunday, that means I'm started to balance out and the fluid is starting to release from my body....yay!!!! So that is good.
I am going with my daughter today to get an ecocardiagram (sp) at the hospital, we have not got the blood test back yet. She is extremely upset about not being able to run with the team at IU this weekend, but I don't think young persons realize the magnitude of a health body sometimes. So I don't expect the results until next week, I will let you know.

Please forgive me for not checking your logs lately I will be back this weekend to see how everyone is doing....I enjoy it, I just haven't had a chance.

We have a wonderul group here with my sista Jules

Forgot to mention I saw the eye doctor today !  They said the white bump under my left eyelashes (inside the darned thing) is an oil gland that is plugged.  Yep, in true Julie fashion I go and get some FREAK thing ! I swear I get the dumbest ailments !

So my options were numb the corner of my outer eye (not the eyeball)...... then poke something in it and "scrape out the oil".  OR option #2 put ointment and hot compresses on it for two weeks and I have a 70% chance it will go away. If not then I have to go and have it opened.

Um.......OPTION #2 thank you very much !   Gives me the willies to think of a needle near my eye, with my luck i'd flinch and get an eyeful of needle !  (shudders) !!!

So, I'll be slapping hot wash cloths on this thing and reading about my "peeps"....... I can do that ! lol

sure seems like ghosttown round this thread...

I know Cheri is away on vacation - she is one skiing fool and seems to be having lots of time on the slopes! we hope that when she gets to SD she will become our daily inspirer again...sure is not the same without her!!!!

Amy M is at the doctor with her daughter - thoughts and prayers are with you sista! going to make a special visit to church again! hope it helps you instead of hindering you!?

Jennifer has a few sick boys and still made it to the gym - kudos to you Jen!

Lyssa has been a running fool and has purple toes...hope she is baking too....cuz there is one heavy box of lots of training gear heading her way! haha and be berrry berrrry careful with that pain you are feeling...I worry that you may injure it further....take care my blista sista!

Dan is a working out fool! he is running biking and swimming and sometimes in the same day! kiu Dan! hope he is wrong and the weather stays warm...no more freezing them tootsies!!!

Amy SD ran yesterday...even with a sore tummy! YAY AMY! feel better! we understand that life can get in the way...just stay in touch and make sure you try and find your way to the gym...it will help those blues fade away!!! sure looks like she is going daily by the looks of those sexy legs on her avatar!!!!

Julie H went swimming yesterday....nothing about that new counter...hoping she is still liking it and that Nalanis suggestion of oil has made those itchies go away once and for all! she is an amazing cheerleader...I love the way she inspires daily! thanks Jules...you da best!

Andria is doing her own mini triathlons....and daily! what an animal she is! and hey she has a picture posted...I finally got to see the cute body that those amazingly buff arms belong to! and I too run with too many things in my pockets....not sure how my pants stay up some times! haha she is on an animal fat free diet....I am not sure I could be as disciplined...I am a texan...and can not fathom a week with out a steak! sorry to say that word! and also has been smoke free for almost a year! that is fabulous!!! KIU!

Trish...is not logging...I think it is time to bombard her with inspires! she has a lot to offer this group and I would hate to lose her!!!! come out come out wherever you are!!!! remember you have a half marathon you are training to run in...and it is only a few months away....hoping you have just been to wrapped up in life and training to post...but if not, we understand and will try to get you back on track...just come back!!!

Monica posted on our thread...but I see nothing in your training log....are you ok? is there anything we can do to get you logging again!? remember you have a bf that will be heading home and you have a triathlon to race in while he is home! so come on back and start training and letting us help you get to that finish line....dont leave us!   I read your long term goals and love that inspirational poem you have posted....hope that you will not get intimidated by us or the equipment you are now trying to use - and that you will come back and post regularly like you were when you first joined...we know you have lots to offer this group and do not want lose you!!!!

Poor Nalani is on another island with her family and is sick with food poisoning....what terrible timing if there is such a thing! hope you feel better Nalani...I do also hope that you will share more of your knowledge when you get better!...we miss hearing from you! first you get better, though!!!

Yvonne has been sick and is now feeling better....she has some great input and love that she is sharing it with us! I have a question...who is Linkin? you said you took him running...and I was not sure if this was a nickname for your garmin or if you have a dog name Linkin.....just curious!???

Scot took a while to come join us...but he is baaaaack! and looks to be working out...even at home when he can not make it to the gym....kiu Scot...I do want to hear from you more...I know you have much to offer to us!

Isabelle has been one of my buddies on BT since we were on a challenge team together...she is the best and if you ever need someone to push you in the pool...she is more then willing to help! muwahaha! we are sorry for your friends loss Iss! hope that you enjoyed your Greys Anatomy show...and enjoyed your rest on the couch...cuz NOW ITS TIME TO GET BUSY! haha

Nicole is our energizer bunny on the team....nothing can stop her! she has a lot of not so great things happening to her lately...but nothing seems to keep her from working out! you are a GREAT BIG inspiration to me! hope things are finally settling...hoping that you get this funeral behind you real soon! take care and thanks for all you do for this team!

Debbie...well she never panned out...I was hoping that she would come around...but seems we lost her!

Lynne...another one bites the dust! after all the time I spent emailing each of you to see if it was ok if she joined us since we were a closed team...I was hoping she was truly wanting the help to become a triathlete...but again...we seemed to have lost her!

NO MORE LOSING PEOPLE - ya hear!!!??....I understand that we have lots going on...and occasionally we may disappear...but PEASE PLEASE PLEASE just let us know that you may not be around for a week...or however long so that we know that you are not ill or that you have not fallen off the side of the earth... because we do care! and we do notice your absence! and I TRULY want to see each and everyone of you exceed at this sport and in life!

me....I am going swimming again today! got there for a short swim yesterday...need to get to the pool before the swim teams get there....otherwise I get pushed into a lane with others and I am not quite comfortable sharing a lane....I know it is good practice...but I am afraid I will run into them, kick them or just flat out...get in the way! hoping to get a bike ride in this weekend...but seem to be getting some much needed rain and not sure if we will be dry or wet outside this weekend...the weatherman cant seem to get it right....so, will play it by ear.

Hope everyone has a SUPER FRIDAY/WEEKEND! and please please please lets all make sure to log what ever you are doing, thinking and wanting in your logs....I have my eye on each log and hate it when i see nothing there. Kinda makes me feel like I am not doing all I can to keep you interested.....so, help me out here...will ya!?

I'm out of bereavement leave so I'm back at work today. Darn work seriously cuts into my BT time!

I did my swimmy thing this morning: shorter distance speed work. Not my best session but not my worst.

I think the worst is behind us and the family is on the mend. No funeral, but we'll probably do a memorial/lunch thing in a few weeks. We want it to be more a celebration of life than a mourning of death.

Julee, I'm glad that the wild dancing avatar is back!

I have a math class coming in very soon so I will catch up more later....BUT just wanted to wish Nalani well at the www.mauioceanfrontmarathon.com/   this weekend. Enjoy yourself, have a fantastic race and a great trip to Maui. We'll be rooting for you! Remember, your training was the hard part, this is the celebration.

So, I just sold my bike in the classified here!! and was tickled to know the person who wants it! it ends up being the girl who first contacted me when I introduced myself...and has been a HUGE in my support and growth while I have been on this site! I am thrilled that the bike fits her and I can not wait to see and hear how much it knocks off her biking portions in the upcoming races. She is sooo deserving of a nice bike and I am glad that she is the one getting this great steal of a deal that I sold it for!

do any of you have any special plans for the weekend?

I am looking forward to a nice restful weekend at home...hoping to ride, but if the weather does not permit...I will make the dh go for a hike up in the redwoods. Have a great weekend everyone.

Well how cool does a ride in the redwoods sound ! Yeah Julie !!

Well tonight was a first. Dh and i have been couchh potatoes for YEARS !  Then back in Oct. I was invited to do a tri, ......the rest for me is history. HOWEVER he did not take up any exercise until the past couple weeks..
Tonight, we actually argued about who got to run first (and who watched dd 4)........lol

Life is funny ! I wanted to play the Ladies first card but I kinda won by default, I can't see in the dark ! lol
