Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red...
Subject: RE: Nibbs XXXVI
Morning, Nibbs!

I need a round of "What Would Nibbs Do..."

So my marathon training plan calls for the following schedule:

Monday: Long run (drop back week) - 7 miles
Tuesday: Cross
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: 6 miles
Saturday: 3 miles
Sunday: Rest
Monday: Long run - 12 miles

I did the 7 miles yesterday (and will do the 12 next Monday), but I'm having trouble cramming in the other runs. On Thursday, I'm not supposed to exercise before my metabolic testing 'cause it will screw up the results...and my test is late in the day. On Friday, I'm at a conference for most of the day out of town - I might be able to squeeze in something here. On Saturday and Sunday, I'm out of town with my family...playing at a hotel - I can probably do a little run, but I dont' want to take an hour away from them.

So my question: Which of the mid-week (Tuesday-Sunday) workouts is most important? (I know the long run is THE important workout, which is why I moved my whole schedule to Monday).

WWND?

I always focused on doing the long mid-week run if I could only get one in.  If I did two, I'd do the long run and the day after.

Hope that helps.

Oh...and good morning everyone.  I am disturbed by the people who didn't want slow down with all the ice on the road.

It was snowing this morning...again.   This year is a huge deviation from 'normal' PNW weather.

Good advice...I was kinda thinking that...but wanted an expert opinion.

If I can swing the 6 on Friday, 3 on Saturday, that might do it.

I finished my race schedule...more or less.  I am excited for the coming season.

I signed up for a paddle tri (kayak, bike, run) for my last race.

That is really cool.  I started working on my race schedule yesterday and today.  Have 3 races and 2 charity rides so far.  That may be all I sign up for.  Maybe another late season race.  I have to not over-commit like last year.

Ok...I think I'm off to do boring things like clean my closet and put my new seat on.  Hopefully I'll manage to actually get on the trainer tonight.  So sleepy.

That sounds like fun! I think Id like to learn how to paddle some time... although its probably too cold in the off season to learn then... because i suspect i would end up in the water a lot!

I don't know a ton about kayaking, but there is a lot of variation in types, sizes, shapes, etc.  There are many very stable kayaks available.

The end of the season is fairly full, but I will be out of school and they are all events that I really want to do.  The last event is a for-fun bike ride.  And the last tri doesn't include swimming.

I just realized that I will need to drop the tri at the end of August if I want to do well on the oly.

I cut the oil back by 2/3rds substituted in some apple sauce.

I am baking them in hot pink paper cupcake liners with multicolor stripes.    it is very fun.
