One more thing to add to this.  Even though you drop off your transition bags & bike the day before the race, you can access everything race morning.  And x2 to the Zip-lock bags.  It may rain overnight as well as during the race.  Special needs you do not drop off until race morning.  It is down past the swim start.  I hung up my morning clothes bag with all my stuff in it, walked to SN to drop my bags with only my wetsuit, cap & goggles.  It was kind of a far walk on the road with bare feet.  This year I will either walk up & drop my SN bags before I put my shoes in my morning clothes bag, or I will buy a cheap pair of flip flops and ditch them at the swim start.

The bolded above may not be true.  Now that WTC has all of the IM races they have implemented a rule that you cannot access your Transition bags after you drop them off the night before.  I know at IM KY and IM FL this was the case.

Just read the rules when the athlete guide comes out.  It's a minor detail really.

Rick (Daremo) has been a bad boy.  I don't think you will see for another week or two.

Hey thanks for volunteering.  What duties are you doing?

I was a lifeguard in 08’.  I was on the water for 3+ hours and was the last out behind the last swimmer.

Here is what I selected as my first, second, and third choices:Finish Line 8-12, bike aid station #5 the notch; ; run aid station #6 boathouse.

From what I understand all aspects of volunteering, regardless of assignment are very rewarding.

My advice, if you're a fast swimmer and can hang on to a quick clip for the first 25%, take off like a bat outta hell.  It thins out signficantly after the first turn-around.  If you're not as strong and are willing to sacrifice a minute or two, just hang back.  In 90 seconds, a lot of people are already 100 yards down the lake.  90 seconds if you're an average AGer....not so much time if it will make your day better.

WOW WOW Wubzy.   Wow.  It's funny, cause it seems like half of the triathletes I know on Long Island are doing LP.  The fact that 3,076 are signed up just confirms that there are A Lot indeed signed up!

This motivates me more to make sure I get in the pool.

Hmmm... last year 2258 finishers.  This year, potentially, 3,076.  That's only an 818 increase or ...26.5% increase!!!!

Jenn what would you classify as a "quick clip" 1:15 per 100 or faster?

no way 3076 start, let alone finish.  last year must of had 2500+ signed up.

a good 10-20% wont make the start line .....

either way, be preparred for the swim..........

That is fantastic advice, thank you!  In 2007 it was OK but I still got bashed about a bit and it was, obviously very crowded and this year I would love to stay out of trouble as much as I can, especially with increased numbers.
I swam a 1:07 and am hoping for a 1:05 - do you think I'd be OK at the front to try and do what you suggest?  I guess it's not just how many sub 1:00 swimmers are there but also how many macho slower swimmers place themselves up front even though they will do a much slower time

Besides the increased revenue.....why are they adding so many additional people this year???

It looked awfully crowded last year and it is hard to imagine more people crammed in there.

Ha! That's pretty funny and pretty gross, yet so true. Be sure not to get any of the water in your mouth while waiting for the gun to go off.

My kids think NickJr only works on Daddy's computer, not mommy's. What I have orchestrated is brilliant! Wubzy is the #1 fav of my 4 y/o right now.

Mmmm. Not sure. For me it's whatever feels hard. My first couple hundred was probably the RPE of my 1:15/100 pool pace. And then I'm guessing my RPE was probably around 1:20/100 pool pace for a good while thereafter, like at least another 500. As it got less crowded I backed it off to easy pace and just chilled out and enjoyed it the rest of the swim. But dude, don't take my advice, you had a faster swim than I did! You obviously nailed it! Jackjack...1:07, yeah, i say go for it. I started towards the right though. I have no interest in starting in the middle. I'll swim the extra 25 yards on an angle to cut in closer to the turn around.

Anyone using the Lake Placid Spinervals DVD?  Love it?  Hate it?  There's no way I can take a training trip to LP to check out the course so I  was wondering if this would be a good representation of the course.  Any feedback or options are appreciated....as always.
