Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - FULL POD ebshot - 2012-04-20 9:19 AM I got up this morning and said to myself, "it's a perfect day for a run. Get off your rump and go." So, after the kids got on the bus I laced up my shoes and hit the pavement. What a wake up call. My little two mile run HURT! But it's a starting point. Excellent! Good for you. Doing it once makes it even easier to do it again! And Chris, pulled pork sounds yummalicious! Best of luck to Kirk and Allen! Have fun, do your best, and remember to smile even when you don't feel like smiling. A positive outlook helps take the pain away! Weekend plans for me: undecided whether to bike a little tonight or take a rest day or hope the weather is cooperative for a longer bike tomorrow after I finish working a local bike race. Either way I am biking one of the 2 days either inside or preferrably outside! Sunday: meeting a friend to swim at her rec center, then meeting up with my bestest friend who is in from Canada. Both days: watch hockey!! Playoffs have been cuh-razy! Edited by melbo55 2012-04-20 11:22 AM |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - FULL POD bcraht - 2012-04-20 10:43 AM Let me in on this operation. I know people and need race fees. It is nice to have something on my keys that reminds me of something. I'm sure any gift from you on those keys would bring a smile to their faces. I'd have to say no to the cat poo coffee jmkizer - 2012-04-20 10:46 PM TriAya - 2012-04-20 10:37 AM Okay, I need some Manatee help! Need to get the thinking juices going on this one ... So I had a couple race-director (and themselves very athletic) type people do me some HUGE favors, and I'd like to be able to give them a token of gratitude (along with a huge {MELON PRESS} when I see them, of course). The gifts must travel, so they need to be small. They're both young men in their 30s, and the gift needs to be available in Indonesia. I was thinking a small packet of coffee (Indonesia has the best coffees in the world--maybe even kopi luwak, which is the most expensive, not great coffee in my opinion, but nevertheless a cool novelty). Any other ideas? Maybe one of those surfer necklace things? (http://wandererimports.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1) I don't know how else to describe it. Like this... Yes, there are lots of very beautiful silver/wood/other material small carved things here. Hm--maybe something like that but a keychain? SNERK They actually market kopi luwak serves in some coffee shops here as "catpooccino." Fail! I did actually have one once, though. A fine cup of coffee, sure, but nothing that special and sure not worth $30. For one cup? Man I've got two cats here. Send some of them berries my way, I'll pick em out of the litter box no problem. That'd give me some extra cash for this sport. |

Member 892 England | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - FULL POD Got to quickly tell you about my bit of training this week cos i'm a bit excited. I said at the beginning of the week that i was aiming to do 1000m swimming. On tuesday i actually got to the pool and hit 1.2 km, before which my best was only 600m. Not only that but i decided to do my first 400m at 'race pace' and swam at 2.30/100m which is over a minute quicker than i have done it before! Can decide whether to put it down to the coaching i had last weekend or my new 2xu tri shorts i was testing for the first time. (Nothing new on race day) Secondly, i went for a little run yesterday -1.5miles (in the pouring rain and hailstones) and ran at my first ever sub 9 minute mile pace. I had to check my stopwatch to see if i had read it correctly before i would believe it as my usual pace is around 10.00/mile. Must be Salty's inspirational words of 'HTFU'. |

Thought I'd pump up the tires first - valve comes away from tube on front tire - down she goes.. No worries I'll change the tube with the help of my SO. Done. Let's inflate back tire - valve comes away from tube - down she goes. Don't have another tube at home....never changed the back tire before.... So I am now going to drive to the LBS and get some tubes and then I am going for a 90min run then a 30min trainer ride. The 2 hour bike ride can wait until tomorrow when the bike gods are happier.

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - FULL POD Good luck Kirk and Allen!!! You guys will kick serious behind--I just know it. I completed my 25 mile ride tonight--w/ a personal best time! 1:35:03---my last best was at a race last year: 1:50:49....I was a aiming for 1:30, but I'll take it...especially considering it was the first time that I had broken the average of 15mph. Lots of birds tonight--and bugs---my solid blue shirt was covered in little black dots at the halfway point! And of course a couple(?) of the little bugs got into my jersey and bit me--so I was quite itchy, I even had to stop to scratch it was so bad. ick...Once I got home I found a bunch of little tiny red dots on my back. Good to know I wasn't imagining it. No races for me this weekend, just more working out--6 mile run tomorrow and a swim workout in the pool on Sunday; hopefully it will be a rest day on Monday---7 days in a row is my limit (at least this season! ) |

Beautiful! I've been missing my long runs. I am seriously considering going out tonight to run, but I am so tired. My allergies are really kicking my butt. My system is exhausted. Drugs are your friend...have you considered OTC antihistamines? (the long acting ones, loratadine, cetirizine, fexofenadine. not benadryl) Allergies blow (hehehe pun kinda intended...). Hope you get enough rest to feel recharged and get those allergies kicked the heII outa town! |
