Hey Gang,

I have a couple of questions.

1) How do you put the list of Manatees with the links on the front of your training log.  Many of you have this, and I would like to follow suit.

2) I would love to know what everyone's plans/goals are going into the off-season.  Some people have goals listed in the from part of their logs, but it would be nice to hear what people are reaching towards these days, if you don't mind sharing

Get faster.

Building back up some volume in everything for a few weeks. Swimming will have intensity as able. Likely to put in a few swim heavy blocks. Bike will have some solid volume for a bit without the highest intensity, add that in later. Not all of it will easy, but also not *that* hard for awhile. Running will build back up for a bit, just getting mileage. Not as much as I did last year, but something sustainable while pushing the other two. Add a little intensity later on after regularly getting in some miles, and it won't interfere with the other two.

That's not that crazy, assuming you recover well and are in good health and I hate the "dooo eeeet" stuff.  It gives you a little less than a month to keep your volume up and then taper down again.

Interestingly, I am feeling good.  I have/had a bit of soreness in my quads, but nothing that I didn't expect.  My foot also feels good--I am pretty sure it was an orthotics issue and I seem to have figured that out.  Cold is not totally better, but not progressing either.

Hows the new job?

I think if you keep up a good training volume between now and then you'll be fine. Dooooo eeeeet!

I thought of you when I went in to the new SBux. I really like the decor/style and I like how they have signs up showing the environmental friendly features.

If you're feeling good after this last one and think you can keep up the training volume needed, I don't think it's crazy at all and you should go for it!

My "A" race is November 10th.  After it I will re-evaluate, but will probably be more run focused.  I am planning a February 25k trail race and before that may do a December HM.  In March I may start a get faster program for all 3 sports, but we'll see.

What are your plans?

ETA:  i will also probably start back with TRX.

That's what I was thinking.  Not all of us are past our A races yet!

Nope.  You are all trained up and last weekend you were under the weather.  If you are feeling better and the course is agreeable, it sounds like a plan!

I'll rephrase your question to what are my plans/goals for the winter.

After B2B, I plan to take a bit of time for recovery and then start a run focused block culminating in the Myrtle Beach Marathon in February.  Then I'll want to more serious about the bike so that I'm ready for spring riding.  The plans are all a bit loosey-goosey because I'm pretty focused on B2B right now.

Others have listed the following for their goals.

TJ - Run more.  Find another winter half marathon and then train for a Jun HIM. (Nearing 500 miles in 2013 which surpasses the running that she did in all of 2012!)
Chirs - Run.  Get faster.  Build a single speed.
Salty - Endurance and nutrition focus and then marathon training
Yanti - What is this off season that you speak of?
Melanie - Improve swimming, run more, ride outside each weekend, enjoy hockey and TKD, dump some plump.
Ann-Marie - Re-evaluate after Rev3 Venice but likely more run focus including a half marathon in December and a 25k in February.  Also TRX.
Judi - Finish marathon training (and the marathon) and then get back to the gym to strength train regularly, complete a winter bike plan, rebuild run speed, swim regularly.
Monica - Continue to work with Josh the trainer, run through the winter (possibly inclucing some races), swim regularly and possibly join a masters group, bike
Ben - get faster

What about you, Switch?

It's funny, we may be facing the same issue with bike pumps (encouraging cycle commuting is one of the potential credits.) So I may eventually have hundreds of bike pumps on my desk lol

Funny.

ETA: I still can't figure out a partial quote

ETA2: Is there a name for the decor theme in that new SBux? I really like it but can't describe it. Almost modern rustic-ish?

Judi,

Did you ever get ideas about solid food to eat during your long runs?  I have been thinking about you but I didn't respond because I can easily do solid food on the bike but not so much on the run.  Well, not in an open marathon at least  When have done IM marathons I've had pretzels, flat cola, chicken broth, Clif Shot Blocks, peaches (at Vineman) -- basically what sounded good at the time.

What have others had success with (when gels don't do it for you)?

Those quite literally come from our desks Smile It's one of those funky things that we didn't have a good chain of distribution so we package em up and send them out to the different markets.

Cool! Now when I go in there I'll think you sent those Wink

Yeah. Where is the store located?

Most likely the "palette" (as we call them) is "Herritage" At least that is my guess from what you described.

We have a couple palettes here that help guide our decision making. Nothing set it stone though.

But that's not my job anymore. Smile
