Comet - 2006-07-25 1:51 PM I have to average about 60 miles a day to hit 400. I've lost big time. I however, wouldnn't have ridden this much otherwise so I'm not too upset.

Post less, train more!

sort of... j/k!

I am at 336.3/400! I have doubled last months total. It is going to be hard for me to make the 400 because I have a very hectic rest of the month but I am going to do my best to get there.
Whatever happens this challenge has been good for me.

310/400.  It's not looking easy, but it is looking possible.

Heh. I know, I know.

There are reasons but I won't make them into excuses for you guys to listen to. Congrats to all the non-losers.

i finally surpassed the 200 mile mark, and with only one or two more rides scheduled, i'm sure i won't get to 400. i just had too much fun running and swimming this month.

i'm still intimidated by rides long than 2 hours, big down hills, big up hills, cars, anything on the side of the road that looks like it could cause a flat, and most of all, bugs flying into my mouth while i'm riding.

409 for the month with a race on Sunday.  That's my most miles since I started logging my training here over a year ago.  I always say I'm not going to do any more of these challenges but they always get me to do the most training.

32 Miles on Tuesday and another 32 and change tonight.  This challenge has certainly killed my swimming and running for the month, but I love the bike any so who cares

Month total - 458 Miles.  Weather permitting I'll close out the month with 2-3 more rides; I think 550 may be doable. Needing a break soon as this challenge has certainly tested the ol under carriage

ejc999 and crouse - congrats on making it!

I hear chlorine will soothe the undercarriage.  Best applied by laying face down in a pool and kicking your legs while using your arms to pull yourself forward through the water.  This is advice I receive often due to my lack of commitment to swimming.

I'm at 332.8 miles as of today....67.2 and 4 days to get it done....thats averaging about 17 miles a day....but I'll probably have a rest day Sunday...so in 3 days I need to do three moderately long rides (for me)......I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Touche'! I had to laugh out loud at that one.

That idea is just crazy enough to work.  After riding another 27 miles, I grabbed a beer and floated around in my pool.  I think the chlorine treatment alone is working. I am starting to feel better already. Thanks for the sage advise hangloose!

Congrats on everyone making their goals!

It has taken me a few days to get up the nerve to make this post, but here it goes...

After 2 races (this month), a bike wreck, and a nasty stomach virus, I know that I am not going to make 400 miles.  I still have a few more days left in the month, and I plan on making a final post.  I have already done more miles (both running and biking) than I ever have before, and I am cool with that.  Unfortunately, health comes first, race performance second (close second ) and meeting my BT goal third.  So here I am, at the end of the month, after all that work, and I won't make it...

July's totals:

Bike: 25h 7m 43s - 404.76 Mi

I made 400 miles tonight. Hard to get ride in today with busy family time while on vacation.

I have a 65mile/30' brick Sunday so I'll hit over 450 which is about 225 more than my biggest month ever or double...cool stuff!

Added another 35 today. Month total - 520.  Whew!  Hat's off to the 700 miler's.

No more challenges for a while, I've got races to get ready for!

But this was worth it.

I am so CLOSE!

Bike: 25h 32m 02s - 356.9 Mi

I am riding 20 miles tonight, which will put me at 376 miles.

Oh well, I was close... and not bad for missing the first week of the month, missing 2 days during the month and cutting back the 2nd week of the month.
