ChrisM - 2006-02-12 12:13 PM

Uh oh...... Looks like I probably won't make my goals.  I have suffered through shin splints since I started 11/04.  Worked through them mostly, and did my first 10K last weekend (no problems at all).  Since then I ran once during the week and they hurt, and I tried running yesterday and I had to stop from the pain in less than two minutes.  Not sure what is going on but at this rate (which is, essentially, zero), I won't hit 50. Or even 30.

Chris, sorry to hear about the injury.    Definitely take it slow as you don't want things to get worse.  I believe in the challenges exemptions are granted for those that are injured, as no one can predict if these things will crop up.  If you want, I can talk to the challenge captain.

Feel better soon!

It has been too quiet on the Western Front this week. Where is everyone?

Here we go for mid-month:

Team Florida Force 50.84%
Midwest Team Roster: 39.65%
Mid-Atlantic Team 41.96%
Crazy Canucks 47.75%
West Coast team: 40.10%
Team Kansas: 43.32%
NE Hummin' Hamsters:45%

How is everyone doing? It's Comeback Time!!!!

This challenge is leading me to my longest month ever (or at least since high school) and the longest run I have done in 13 1/2 years.

Yeah. I am glad I signed up.

I hit a bit of a "running lull" in my training plan this week, but I've got alot of time stacked up for the rest of the month.  I'm on pace to hit my goal, but don't be surprised if I surpass it.

If anything this month has made me a stronger runner...which is the point of this I guess.

Like the Village People once said..."Go West!"

I got in a half hour yesterday, and today's plan calls for a little more than 40 minutes.  That's going to have to be on the treadmill, as they're calling for a high of 16 degrees today.  Nothing like a run to force the chill out of one's core!  Completely on track to hit my goal!

Time for West to pull out our big push to the finish!  Go WEST!!!

Haha! I've been making-up for lost time from when I was sick earlier in the month. So far this week, I've put a hurtin' on my miles with 25 of 35 miles completed.

Getting older is a fact of time. Aging is a state of the mind and I have no plans on aging for the next 40 years or 50 years.

Hey maybe I will do a series of Ironman events every 40 years. Celebrate my 40th B-day around Ironman FL next year and then do another as I turn 80. Yeah I like that.

I've been going a little easy this week because I have a race on Monday - whoo-hoo! It's 8.15 miles so that should easily add another 1h 25m to my time...although I'd LOVE it to be less... maybe I'll go suuuper slow so I can get more time in? haha..I think super slow is my real pace! Then after the race I have so mean runnin' time scheduled!! Keep up the awesome work!

West Coast Team is looking good, it is all doable.

Way to go MsPiggy--your first month of getting into training and you are really putting in the miles!

ChrisM I hope your injury is coming along.  Take care of it!

Now I better go run - I have miles to go before I sleep!
