Stacers, how do you know that Kavanaugh is not a decent, honorable guy?

There is certainly no shortage of people who know him personally that say he is.  Do you know him?

Going to be interesting.

I don't really buy the GOP line that this is all just obstruction. Note that the dems didn't parade out a bunch of sexual assault allegations for Gorsuch. He's a decent, honorable guy, and no one could really dispute that. Kavanaugh, notsomuch, and it's a mess.

It reeks of politics that the GOP needs to sweep all this under the rug so quickly rather than take a few weeks to do a legit investigation. We could wait a year when it was Garland, but we need to vote on this tomorrow? Sure.

Did anyone watch Trump's train wreck of a press conference last night? Whoa. Dude is 100% off his rocker.

Had the Honorable Senator Feinstein raised the issue in a timely manner, there wouldn't be the "perception" that it's being rushed.

I watched some of his questioning previously and felt he lacked the humility and temperament I'd personally like to see in a Supreme Court justice. His impatience and attitude in response to legitimate questions indicated to me that he is more tied to a particular agenda than he is committed to fully researching and assessing issues of law. Were all of these sexual assault allegations found to be lies, I would still be uneasy about his character based on what I have seen when he has spoken.

Basically, I don't care for him. I'll admit that my opinion might very well be affected by the fact that I disagree with him on certain issues, but I don't know - I disagree with Gorsuch on issues as well, but I couldn't argue his appointment as he seemed deliberate and intelligent in his appraisal of issues. I guess that's what I'm expecting in a Supreme Court nominee. Call me Pollyanna?

Not at all.  I was genuinely curious why you felt like you did.  Thanks.  My wife feels just the opposite, so it's interesting to me how people come to different conclusions on someone they don't really know based on what we've seen so far.

Of course, there is the OTHER perception (which is actually reality)....that DiFi waited until the last minute to introduce this in order to INTENTIONALLY delay the vote.  Why should the Republicans be held up by that tactic?

Yes, she's doing fine. The people she said were there have said they were not, or don't remember in some cases.  She can't say how she got to the party or who took her home. Those are issues for me. So nothing new here really.  Certainly, I have less of a problem with this woman than I do the democrat Senators who sat on the allegation for 6 weeks or longer and NEVER brought it up during the confirmation hearing or before.  Then again, I'm so done with democrats and anything they want (politically) that I'm going to have a problem with anything they do.

Agreed.

The amount of deflection in his testimony is irritating. Same thing that bugged me about him in front of Congress previously.

I wouldn't answer any of their damn questions. Every one of those azzhats had weeks and weeks to ask him anything.. WHILE THEY SAT ON INFORMATION THAT THEY MADE PUBLIC AT THE LAST MINUTE SO HE AND HIS FAMILY COULD GET DRAGGED THROUGH THE MUD. Hell, I wish he'd just walk up and punch Schumer in the face....because THAT's what he deserves

Lindsay Graham was ridiculous.

My thoughts after watching both testify:

- I felt both were credible in their testimony. It would be hard to conclude much based on the current evidence presented. I know the Republicans are hand waving about delays and obstructions (Garland comes to mind when I start to feel unsympathetic), but it seems that gathering a bit more evidence in some sort of organized manner would be prudent before confirming this guy to the Supreme Court for life.

- That said, after what I watched from the Republicans, I'm fairly sure he'll be confirmed.

- I felt she was credible. She does have a few holes in her story, they don't bother me as much. I have a friend who was raped in high school and she didn't then nor does she now have any recollection of getting herself home after it happened.

- I felt he was credible but also evasive. He has been asked multiple times if he would submit to an FBI investigation - he refuses to answer yes or no every time. How hard is it to just say, "Yes. I have nothing to hide, but it's up to President Trump!" His comments about Democrats today also made me question, yet again, his ability to be an impartial judge of legal matters. I realize that those toeing the conservative line love this, but as an independent who wants to see the Supreme Court be as impartial and reasoned as possible, I find this disturbing.

But hey.....at least he didn't go off on someone when they were having dinner with their wife like liberals do....nobody condemns that.

This was a complete joke.  For the Democrat members to sit there and act like this is all about whether Kavanaugh was qualified is an absolute LIE!  Their own members vowed to do whatever possible to stop confirmation.  Then those azzholes tried to act like they needed more time for an investigation AS IF they didn't hold on to the allegation for 6 weeks.  DimFI should be thrown out of the Senate.

I have said it before and I'll say it right here.  I'm happy the lines are being more clearly drawn.....let's get working on having the fight for the soul of this country.  I don't want to leave it for my kids to have to take care of.

Stacers - Garland comes to mind??  The Republicans tried to ruin his life??  The Republicans took a woman who asked to stay anonymous and threw her to the wolves for their own benefit??

No....the Republicans simply used their advantage in Congress....you know, because the Democrats lost dozens and dozens of seats in Congress by a vote of the people and couldn't control the process.  This is not even close to what these idiots tried to do to this good man.  And they did it because his ideology is different from theirs......PERIOD.

I look forward to President Trump getting another pick for the supreme court.  I will NEVER vote for a single liberal policy.....NONE.  The Dems earned it.  I'm far from alone.  I have been voting since 1978, and I have never voted a straight party ticket in my life......for the rest of my days I will.

I had missed the morning testimony while at work. I thought it telling that when Ford was asked if she knew that the committee offered to come interview her in California last week that her attorney claimed that was privileged information and didn't want her to answer. I think she may have had words with her attorney(s) after the hearing asking why she was not told about the offer. It sounds like she would have taken it. If she had, that would have taken the democrat's public display that they wanted. That was not looking out for the best interest of their client, but was in the interest of their agenda. If the committee had interviewed her last week, that could have changed the game quite a bit.

Looks like they'll confirm him today. From the reactions on my feeds it seems that it will make the Republican base happy, and likely give the other 70% of the country some extra motivation to vote in November.

What do you expect? This is the liberal play book. If you can't get what you want through proper procedure and law then stamp your feet, protest, and refuse to participate. Its actually become a great learning point in our family. I have a real world example of how NOT to lead.

Corey Booker rambles on for 25 minutes and everyone listened to him. But then he walks out and won’t listen to the other side. Very telling about his closed mind. IOWs, you have to hear me but I don’t have to hear you.
