Every other team is just talking instead of riding. Let's do a breakout and put this thing away over the weekend: no smiles without the miles. Last I checked team Saunier Duval was at 34% completion... thanks for the nice yellow jersey please make sure you wash it first, also after eating all those burrito's you seem to have stretched it out a bit. Looks like you got one of your riders DQed or DNS; never entered a goal. So are you counting 0 goals reached for 0 goals achieved as 100 % achieved or as 0 % achieved. Garminites know know how to make goals and make them..... BTW... SD's goals look kind of paltry; if you petition Kat I am sure she could change them!! Cat said if they didn't post within the week they wouldn't be counted.
Here's a friendly sidebet... beat my mileage during the challenge and I'll get you a Garmin team jersey; wait until the fall during the Tour of Missouri and I'll get the rider of your choice on the team to sign it..... Winner gets the title King of the Miles with the right to use the polka dot avatar If only I could ride anywhere near as much as you in a month. |

Though that would be a fun side bet if I was anywhere close to your distance. Very impressive. Good thing this is based on % and not total time or distance. |

Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: RE: Garmin-Chipotle Team Thread Hi Team - just a quick reminder that Monday July 14th is the LAST day of week one of the challenge. It would be great if at this time you could make sure your google spreadsheet is up to date with your achieved and GOAL stages and distance/time for the week. (there are currently a few blank spaces on some of the teams) I will get an interim result up in the forum on Wednesday assuming that whatever is in your team spreadsheet is the results for your team. I have updated the spreadsheets so they are all calculating goals consistently across the board and as always if you have any questions let me know. Your team spreadsheet is here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pfYL7DR_dx-AejRBIPjLOCw&hl=en To login to Google Docs: Username: btchallenge Password: challengeforum
Hope everyone has had a great first week! Dont forget to keep supporting and inspiring your team mates - make sure you all keep in touch! 2 weeks left! (and feel free to stir up the other teams a bit too) Cat |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Garmin-Chipotle Team Thread Just a heads up on the spreadsheet: I added the original percentages, which were just a representation of the miles or minutes you've done towards your goal. Cat changed that so that it averages the percent of stages done and percent of goal done. For most people, that increased the amount done, but for a few of us, that number went down. Right now, we're at 30.29% as a team, but we are already 38.7% of the way through the month. Hopefully we can all get some riding done this weekend!! |

Veteran 202 Overland Park, KS (Like the OC but OP) | Subject: RE: Garmin-Chipotle Team Thread Just loaded up from Napster some tunes from our Team's new favorite band, The Flying Burritos . For you old farts, the band includes Graham Parsons, long departed from the Byrds. I dont know if I like the tune Hot Burrito #1, Hot Burrito #2 or Hot Burrito #3 the best. Will listen tonite while intervaling the strip. BTW... they have a tune called Wheels with the lyrics: "We're not afraid to ride" . How appropriate!!! It appears Team Liquigas hangs out at the drugstore instead of at Chipoltle.

Extreme Veteran 461 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Garmin-Chipotle Team Thread That night ride sounds really cool, especially the cave. I would love that! I have 4 stages done with 56.8 miles in those stages. I had to cut my windy ride short at 14 miles instead of 20 because I was DIEING in that wind. I cannot believe how sore I am today from that ride! But I have worked in the extra 6 miles into other rides next week. I'm at 34% which should be right on track! |

Veteran 521 | Subject: RE: Garmin-Chipotle Team Thread I promise my minutes will pick up once I am off the trainer and back home. I usually do a minimum of 60 minutes if not more. I may do a long ride on saturday just to knock out a bunch of miles and minutes. Thanks for the inspires guys, it is helping get me off the couch and away from the BEER!! My FIL keeps too much in stock. That plus the 4 hours of softball, I will be lucky to move tomorrow. 4 games with the guys today. I was the only woman playing and putting the guys in their place. They were afraid to run on me. hehehe. Kara |

Oh, I know... which is why I went out in the first place. My initial thought was to scrap the whole thing. 35 mph wind gusts are just a little too intense for 20 straight miles in a training ride. |

Now when I go out in 10 mph winds, like yesterday, it feels like a cake walk! |

Veteran 202 Overland Park, KS (Like the OC but OP) | Subject: RE: Garmin-Chipotle Team Thread If you need inspiration for getting smiles-from-the-miles today, Jorge Pacheco finished the Badwater 135 running race yesterday in 23:26:06. That's 135 miles of running, in 115 degrees through Death Valley with 35,000 feet of climbing including 15 miles up Towne's Pass followed by an ascent up Mt Whitney. All in under 24 hours. Makes me thirsty.... |
