Well, there is no going back now. I have had this race on my calendar all year, and I just laid down the $$.

Registered - Let's roll!

Now for those pesky hills.

No worries James, we've got all kinds of hill training opportunities around here, right?

kakekiko - 2010-08-09 1:29 PM Any official opinions?  Road Bike or Tri Bike?

Ummm....Well I always ride my tri bike because i am training for IMFlorida and to get my muscles back into road bike shape takes to long.  Personally i think a road bike would be faster on this course.  Just because of how long the climbs are and no flats at all.....but like noted above i will ride my tri bike.

Less than 5 weeks people!!  I am using this race as a fitness tester and a nutrition tester for IMFlorida...Which kinda stinks because I will be tired coming into the race.  Still going to follow my Ironman plan until saturday which will be an off day.

One month!  Thinking of going to a 11/27 or compact crank for the race.  For those of you that have done the course what are your feelings on this?

FYI - I was on the IMBranson website last night and noticed that they changed the run course from two loops to three.  The main thing about this change is that the new route removed every hill from the run course!!  It's way flat now!

I am using a 12-25, but I did run out of gears very quick on the down hills.  A 27 will help as there are some parts of the hills that i could have used another gear.

At this moment, the whole T1/T2 thing has me scratching my head. Only having done small events local to home, this 7 mile difference between the two transition areas scares me.

How does t it work? How do I get my stuff all packed together at the end of the event, how do I know where my stuff will be in the T2 area?

The water is in the mid 80s right now, but our heatwave seems to have broken and I expect it to cool significantly over the next couple of weeks.  We have lows in the 50s and highs in the mid 80s this week so that should help.  Unless we get more extreme heat in the days before the race, I would expect it to be legal.

No big deal.  You just set up both transitions either on saturday or the site said you can set up T2 on Sunday morning since that is where the shuttle picks up the racers (I think?).  They said you can either throw all your gear after T1 into the provided bag and it will be transported back to finish area or you can leave your gear at T1 and pick up after the race.  I have done a few like this and it really wasn't an issue.  by the time I met up with the fam and pick up bike out of T2 there gear bag was waiting for me at the pick up point.

Athlete guide is out.  Bib assignments next and then it is go time!

For those who did KS this year, how are your expecting times to look in comparison?  Hard to compare I would imagine with a harder bike but probably easier run (no hills at all).  I hope temps will be cooler than KS.

That being said I am ready and feel real good.  Had a great long swim yesterday splitting 1:26/100.  Best I have swam all year.

1st HIM coming up and wondering about time limits on any of them. I do not see it being an issue (I hope) but curious as to the cutoffs.

Also, does anyone know when the waves will be announced?

Missouri Department of Conservation is reporting 82 degrees as of 09/02.  Hopefully these cold nights will lower the temps.

Swim waves came out today.
I have to wait 45min after the mens pro start, I am with the 18-29 males second to last wave. At least I will not get trapled by the other waves.

Tri-bike for me, but I think the right answer is to ride what you usually train on.

Look back at previous posts in this thread - I believe that question and some answers has come up a couple of times.  For me I don't really have an option as I have been training with road bike all season.  Tri-bike is winter purchase this year .
