Great to see someone started a thread.  I am doing both Kansas and Brason.  I am originally from Kansas so I thought it would be nice to do my first one in my home state.  Plus, all of my family is still there so I have an instant cheering section.  They will also be at Branson!

Actually I am not too worried, the best part was reading the bike course description. What could be better than taking a stroll through the ozark mountains .

It's hilly, but if you spin the uphills and push the downhills you can have a fast bike split.  This is what I did at a 1/2IM in AR that had 5500ft of climbing and I had a good bike split.

The climbs arent that bad.  I google earthed the course and looked at the elevation map at the same time so, although we start at an elevation of 950 feet the highest point of the race is around 1400 feet.   The steepest climb appeard to be around 250 feet with several very long gradual climbs.  So, anyone reading this thread dont freek out... these are not the alps...

I actually grew up in Branson and thought this would be perfect for my first 1/2 Iron. The bike course isn't nearly as bad as they could have made it, same goes for the run as well. They stayed away from the roads that go up in elevation 3 or 4 hundred feet in a 1/4 to 1/2 a mile, luckily. That would have been interesting but hellish. September in Southern Mo should be absolutely perfect. See ya'll there.

Not totally sure but every HIM i've done has been a wave start based on your gender and AG.  I would guess they would do the same.  I know there is a cutoff for the entire race, but not sure about the segments.

what age group do they usually start with at a 70.3 event? or is it different for every race. youngest-oldest? vice versa?

I haven't figured out how they determine that.  I think it's mostly due to your AG size.  I am in the 25-29 AG and at IMCali I was like wave 12 out of 17 and at Kansas I was the very last wave.

I know a lot of local tri base the waves ooff of a lottery pick, so there is no way to tell when you will start.
