Extreme Veteran 557 | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Ahhh I don't even get me started...I use to have a place for Ar-Kansas in my heart as my dreadful head coach Les Miles would call it just because I'm good friends with Reggie Herring the old def. co who is now with the Dallas Cowboy, daughter. So now that I have no connections to the program I am back to despising them..... Geaux Tigers |

I stick to the general guideline however I am doing the Lean and not doing S/B/R Im only doing B/ only, I dont think there is anything wrong with tweaking the ratios but I would use your scale and calipers to guide you. I think the general idea with the diet is to have three phases, the first phase is high in protien to shift metabolism and speed recovery, phase two and three add in more carbs to keep metabolism ramped up and to make sure workouts are properly fueled so your not dragging going into workouts. From my experience most people dread phase three because they are afraid to add the additional carbs fearing it will derail thier results at the 60 day point, however as a result this is when most of the big changes occur with strength and bodyfat loss, you will hear this from almost every person that has finished P90x. |

I'm not following the nutrition plan and I'm modifying the P90X workout to fit my current schedule. I'm new to running and really need to focus on this for the next few months. I'm hoping to do a tri in December and would like to get through the run portion w/out having to walk most of it. I also plan on continuing to bike and swim, since I enjoy those workouts the most. Trying to fit everything in is a bit challenging. Ultimately at the end of the 90 days I'd like to be leaner and be able to do a pull-up or two! |

Extreme Veteran 573 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Hi all! I would like to join the fun! I'm in the middle of week 2 of the Classic program. I'm not following the diet/nutrition though - I'm a vegetarian and eat quite healthy with my biggest vice being sweets which I've cut down on drastically. I am going to start training for an IM in late Nov, so I wanted to kick start some strength training w P90X. Maybe I'm not working hard enough, but I'm not sore...I used bands last nite for the first time in prep for a 10 day trip to NY. I prefer weights, personally. I wanted to take these first couple of weeks and see how I feel in terms of how much weight, how hard i'm pushing myself etc... I guess i can go harder. The AbRipperX tho - OMG that sucks. And plyometrics is a killer! I hope that helps increase my running speed/strength... Oh yeah more importantly - have you seen this yet? http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/6933459/

CURRENT TRAINING: twice a week of swim, bike, run, lift weights, and lift bodyweight 2010 RACES/Activities: did a couple 5ks, a half mary, a du, and a sprint tri. got a couple more 5k (a crossfit 5k!) and a sprint tri to finish out the year. CURRENT WEIGHT: fluxing around the 2 dollars and change mark % BODY FAT: around 11% GOALS: i want to get my nutrition under control. i want to be able to not eat a bowl of granola just before bed and sleep like garbage. i want to leave that evil temptress that is the snooze button. i want to build my willpower, commitment, and tolerance for tony's jokes. i want to have fun. and i would like to try to shed the title of "worst bt friend ever". i will be starting october 3rd with the p90x classic program. i am going to move the yoga x sessions to saturday instead of midweek where i will do the stretch, or sleep. |

Extreme Veteran 573 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge I realized I never posted what my story is, so... Name: Sharon Story: I turned 40 in January. Been a triathlete since 2002 having raced every distance from sprint to my first IM in 2009. Was training for a HIM earlier this year and broke my shoulder a week after my birthday. Fully embraced my downtime. A lot of things happened in "life" this year, namely an ill parent on the opposite coast entailed multiple trips back to NY w no time for much of anything. Another one of those trips is coming up next week as a matter of fact, but I'll be able to do P90X for sure. I digress...I was going to try to do a sprint or Oly this year being the first time in 8 years I haven't done a tri. I decided to let life happen and not kill myself to work out every day. Family Status: married 12 yrs this oct. w children of the furry variety (by choice). spacey dog is 13 1/2 and burton cat is almost 6. Current Training: Started P90X 2 weeks ago. Prior to this, sporadic s/b/r throughout the year. 2010 Races: Arizona RnR Marathon cos it was on my 40th birthday, I thought that would be a fab way to celebrate. Didn't really train properly for it and hated it just like I hated the one I did 10 years prior in Alaska. Broke my shoulder 6 days later... Current Weight: 144 %BF: no clue Goals: To turn the softness in my midsection into firmness. To build a base of strength going into IM training come Nov. To get a little more definition/toned arms. |

DH has decided to join. We did ripper together. I had a hard time not laughing. We had to pause the dvd because his grunting was out of control. Too funny. Oh we mounted the pull up bar. I can only do ONE!!! So pathetic. |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Hey Everyone! Reading your posts makes me excited to start! Just back from vacation but had a spill on my bike yesterday and my shoulder/elbow is feeling pretty sore so I'm thinking I'll probably push my start back a couple of days until the bruising calms down. Congrats on getting it done!!! I planned out my meal plan and went grocery shopping yesterday - I don't know if I'll stick to it 100%. Seems like a lot of dairy/protein initially and not very many veggies. But otherwise - kind of eating the same way - just more and less in some areas. Anyone else find this? |

Expert 798 Kewaunee, WI | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge I don't do dairy, so I have been trying to back off on the carbs and eat more protein. I think my diet for the next month will be protein bars, tuna, hard boiled eggs, lean protein, salads, steamed veggies and some raw nuts. I also have been allowing myself some 88% dark chocolate. Did plyometrics today. My dvd skips at the end. I am going to see if I can find it on youtube. I didn't do the last 10 minutes due to dvd issues. Pretty intense for sure. I really need to strengthen my glutes and hamstrings. Seems like this one will help. kimmax - 2010-09-06 4:17 PM Hey Everyone! Reading your posts makes me excited to start! Modesto, California | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Great weekend! Tried an Insanity with Sean T. this weekend to switch up cardio a little, its the real deal. My diet still needs work so Ill be cutting back carbs more this week, I like to use rice cakes for my main source of carbs. I still get plenty of vegetables ,also use allot of whey protien for convenience so im anxious to see how it goes. Im going to start adding jump rope into my routine as a athletic warmup for my bike workouts, got as a gift three years ago and have not used it once, how sad. Im also considering adding soccer into the mix somehow, my goal is to get more involved with sports with my daughter who is seven now. I struggled with pullups when I first started doing P90x, twards the end of my first round I was doing sets of ten unassisted for a total of 70-80 per workout. You have to force yourself to get results, as hard as P90x is its also just as easy to just go through the motions! |

Expert 1694 Illinois | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Well, I got through my first week. Actually it was more like a week and a half, life and running and cycling kept getting in the way. I am doing the Lean version. Did Kenpo last night and it was a pretty good workout although I am a real clutz. I just kind of flailed around for half an hour and called it good. |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Missed last nights workout, so Ill be doing a double tonight, good thing its my favorite workout. Diet is going good, getting six meals a day in with a protien drink and rice cakes as my three snacks, its working good so far. The added protien has reduced my need for any sweet foods, its also helped reduce my apetite. |
