Expert 769 Alpharetta (until we find a home) | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread This 830A start time for the HIM is news to me. I understand having the IM people shove off first because they need all the daylight they can get. I dont understand the 90 minute lag since the IM is a mass start. Are they trying to have everyone out of the water before the HIM starts? I am staying off site and have been trying to work out logistics for me and the wife. Do you have to pay to park to pick up the packet and get your bike racked on saturday? As a HIM registrant do I have to show up at 5-6 AM just to sit around for 2-3 hours? That seems rather obnoxious and rather difficult to train far as far as timing the nutrition/sleep/bathroom/etc. |

It's the annual midwest vs. east coast showdown in a neutral site. Unfortunately I'll be missing it due to school, but am looking forward to "trakking" everyone. Best of luck, all! Should be a flat, fast, hot race! |

What time does the half transition area close? I am feeling you bananatoes... |

Veteran 660 Northern Illinois | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread I have read pretty favorable reports about the events that REV3 have put on so far. So I'm hoping that I'm getting a little stressed for nothing. However, it does seem that the 1/2 is getting the raw end of the deal here. On their site REV3 states that the full is the "primary" event and the 1/2 is the "secondary" event so that may be the reason we are feeling this way. The problem is we paid ($250.00) as if this was the main event. I just wish all of the timing and logistics would have been clearly stated from the very beginning so there wasn't all of this last minute questioning and concern with less than a month to go. I know the folks at REV3 follow this thread so hopefully they will give us the details of when transition closes for the 1/2. I will be very disappointed if we have to be out of transition at 6:30 and we don't start until 8:30. On a different topic, has anyone heard how many are registered for the 1/2 and the full? Just curious how big of a race it will be. |

Master 1390 Ferndale, MI | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread From the Rev3 FB page: Keep in mind that your bikes need to be checked in Saturday and that transition will close for ALL athletes at 6:30am on Sunday. Half Rev athletes will not be allowed to come into transition after 6:30am. Suckysuckysucky Looks like they're expecting 400 for the full and 700 for the half. I say we wage a sit down protest at the swim start, LOL |

Veteran 268 | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread Looks like the half people are getting the short end of the stick! Our nutrition gets to heat up for 2 1/2 hrs before we get to it and now we get to run at high noon. I don't see why they can't have two seperate transition side by side and let us in there until 8 am. What would be the issue with that? |

Expert 760 Memphis, TN | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread I'm not overly concerned about it. I am sure Rev3 will do a fantastic job. I did 70.3 New Orleans this year in April and had to be out of transition at the same time (6:30) and didn't get in the water until almost 8:30 and it was all 70.3 participants, so this is hardly something new. Just bring your nutrition to the race site and have your breakfast when you leave transition. I figure this just means I won't have to wake up as early as the people doing the full |

Regular 82 Indiana | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread I agree that I'm seeing only good feedback from the previous races, so I'm going to try to have a good attitude going into it, and I'll see what happens. I signed up a really long time ago, so there have been quite a few changes since then. I'd think they'd make the changes to make the race better, so I'm going to go with it and hope , 'cause really, what else can we do at this point? How early is everyone going? I'm debating doing the early morning swim on Thursday morning, but I haven't decided. If I do it, I'll drive over super early on Thursday because I really don't want a hotel room on Wednesday night. |

Looking forward to meeting some BTers there. We are both looking forward to this race. It's our A race for the year and first half ever. We will also never train for a long distance together again. It's way to hard to juggle with a 5yr old! Lesson Learned. We both are ready for a vacation without training! Edited by mwhitely 2010-08-17 1:46 PM |

It's interesting that you posted this.. I'm glad my hubby and aren't alone in these same feelings.. we will not train for a long distance together again either. Ours if for different reasons though. We don't have kids.. that certainly made some parts of it easier. But the training really taught us a lot about each other- both good and bad. Plus DH had a bike wreck in April, broke his hand, had knee surgery.. now has a calf injury, is doing the aquabike instead AND started a completely new job. Ok, now that I wrote all of that out, I guess I'll cut the guy some slack. Our journeys have been completely different. My journey has been a wonderful experience and his has not been a good journey and that has affected everything. So we'll be glad when this is over- for different reasons. |

New user 73 | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread This is something that we are looking into right now. Basically, it comes down to logistics and volunteers. We have to clear out the full athletes from transition, but it is very hard to discern the difference between half and full athletes. That combined with limited help in transition makes it a concern. How about 7:15? Would that help at all? The swim course will be 2 loops as of right now. Our goal is to get our full athletes onto their second loop before starting the half. That is the primary reason for the later start. We will be at the venue starting today and through the weekend. We will be lookign at ways to make this easier for everyone involved. Please understand that we do have the athletes best interest in mind. Charlie |

Veteran 268 | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread Charlie, As a triathlete I am greatful that you hear what we are saying and are open to suggestions. This is what seperates you from the competition. I do not want to take away from any persons full race experience, but want to also make sure I have a great experience at my first half. Is there no way to divide the transition area in half and allow athletes racing the half to be in transition until 8am. Keeping the 8:30 start for the half. With the full being two laps, I see your reasoning for wanting the time gap. If I was a full participant, I would be upset if I had to plow through another larger mass of people on my second lap. This hurts their advanage they have gained on the first lap. Hopefully you can find a solution and communicate it to us. The hardest part for us as participants is learning this from reading posts on Facebook, BT or Slowtwitch. Please post updates on the News & Blog update portion of the Rev3 Cedar Point site. If the Faq email you sent got thrown in my spam box, I would not have know about the updates posted there. I am looking forward to the race and hearing how this works out! |

I think Charlie was saying he could leave transition open until 7:15-7:20 for the 1/2...not a 7:15-7:20 start time, but I have been known to be wrong before. |

Veteran 660 Northern Illinois | Subject: RE: Revolution3 HIM Sandusky Ohio : Official Thread If that's the case then never mind. I guess with a 2 loop course there isn't much they can do. The web site says the swim course is 1 loop unless the weather (wind) is bad and then it will be a 2 loop course on the other side. They must have changed that also. It's not the end of the world to me, just would like to know ahead of time so I can get the morning timed right. |
