NOPE, we don't gamble, but took in a Death Cab for Cutie concern and "O" Cirque Du Soleil. Highly recommended... As for the course, the feedback is really great. Appreciate it. Lots more 2 loopers chiming in now. I do have concerns about a 3 loop as well. So, please, keep it coming!!!!!! = |

So far, better food, more/better busing, better expo, better bike course, more entertainment on course, tent for shade post-race, etc....Lots of ideas. we REALLY do listen to all the feedback. Especially after the first year, we learn alot. Some of the things didn't work the way we wanted last year, and you always have surprises. We're working on the Dowtown Experience stuff right now.... |

Master 2381 Dallas, Texas | Subject: RE: Longhorn Registration... Keith, Above I voted for 2 loops. I haven't raced Lonhorn before and I'm looking forward to this race. It's my next A race. But, I just wanted to comment that if you have an 'Energy Lab'-like part of the course you need to keep it. I've done Buffalo Springs the past 3 years. BSLT has its own 'Energy Lab' run - after 2 hills there is a long, straight, flat, hot, dry, treeless, section of road that leads to this ominous looking power plant. It's surreal seeing the athletes coming and going through the heat waves. Things like this and quadzila, etc. give the course character and are things us athletes will talk about everytime the race comes up in conversation and the forums; not to mention that these add to the challenge of the race. The only real "needs improvement" comment I will make is this... there need to be more buoys in the water for the swim. There simply were not enough to sight off of, once the first right-handed turn was made. The bike course was FINE! Once we got off the major road (which has been removed I think)... it was great. The two loop run course was great. Food was great. Of course, as always.. I'm sure it was better for the people who finished in 5 hours. I finished in 7 hours and it was pretty picked over. | Member 66 | Subject: RE: Longhorn Registration... Did it last year - the Hill was killer. I vote for 3 loops if the rest of the course is a little flatter. I really think last years heat made the Hill what it has become. Keeping us off the road to the expo center keeps the heat from coming up off the asphalt, too. I agree about the buoys. Sighting was the only real problem last year. The expo was lacking, but moving it to downtown will be a big improvement I think. |

I agree about the bouys after the 1st turn, but there was a great big radio tower that was in a erfect line with the bouy's so I stopped looking for them. Brandt, yes the 2-3 real hills that are out there are challenging, the rest of the course is rolling. You have 55.5 miles to enjoy the rolling before the majority of the climbing kicks in. |
