I did a short brick yesterday. Rode about 25 miles then ran for 20 minutes. I lowered my bike seat about 1/2 inch last week. This made the bike way more comfortable and made me faster. I was easily pushing 20+mph in the flats during my ride.

The run felt easy too. I did about 9:23 miles (which is good for me) and was able to carry on a conversation the entire way. I think I'm looking for sub 9 miles on the run. This should be a fun race.

Two weeks to go.... I've taken the bike course a couple of times and it should be fun.  There is a good turn at the bottom of a hill that should be taken pretty slow. There is some gravel there so I hope someone cleans that up or else there will be a lot of people eating a guard rail. Otherwise there are 2 nice hills, though the second one follows a steep downhill, and momentum should easily carry riders halfway up the hill.  The course then ends with a 3 mile stretch at -1% 5o -2% grade, so that should be pretty fast!

I'm looking forward to it!

training is going well ish for me, got out middle of last week for two good longer rides, able to hold onto 22 for about two hours in each of then, but miami is gonna be on the slower side, we'll wait for tri for joe to open up the bike and see what the times can look like;-)

Yeah, it depends on the Y.  Most do, though.  However, our Y exceeded their winter new membership goals by like 75% so they haven't been selling passes since February and will start back to selling them at the end of April.

Just give 'em a call and find out.

My new April Calander in my training log shows a green square in the 18th! Gotta like a month with a green square in it. It's about time. I've missed racing.

tell me about it, i have been counting down the days until miami for a while now.

the way my schedule is working out that is going to be one of my 3 main focus races this year, so hopefully the self coaching works out well and i manage to get things in the right place at the right time......

Do we have travel plans yet?  Are we meetin' at David's or David's?

What time is departure and estimated return?

That would be fun to see it pop up.  My training Log is on runnersworld.com They have some trianing plans but I don't use them.

I usually just kill lecture time in class to write out my workout plans. I log everything I do after the fact.

Runner's world's is OK but it only gives detailed tracking on the running.  The bike, swim and other are all just given minimal detail.

Well, what are you doing over there on Runners World?  Get yourself on over here...where you belong...as a triathlete.

I don't really ride or swim enough to be a triathlete.  I run a lot.  I can swim well and have a bike.  After this season I may call myself a triathlete but for now I am a runner who does triathlons.

Sorry to burst your bubble Brue, but you're not "a runner." You completed a few triathlons last year, I think you even placed on one of them. You're a triathlete, like it or not. Just deal with it,    ok.

As far as travel plans go I think newbz is checking with his dad but if we all travel together we can take my RV. I've got plenty of space for people, gear and bikes, I'm just asking people to throw in $10 for gas.

Oh, I'm going on a ride tonight about 5:45. Want to come?

I'm good for at least 10 in gas.  It is 8 now so a 5:45 ride has come and gone.  Let's do one soon.

I did do some bike repair (on my mt. bike) Smile

"Pool warmups begin at 6:30am and close at 7:10am. There is a mandatory pre-race meeting at 7:15am pool-side."

First swimmers start 7:30

It would be nice to warm up but I won't die if I don't.

Google Maps recommends 71 to 275 to 27N 2:18    135 miles

Alternate route 70 to 127 to sommerville 2:23    123 miles

so we need to leave daves around 4 am (or earlier)

hows everyones training going?

did my first race simulation workout with a few others today, 12 mile TT followed by a 10k run.

Well I did my first 5k for the year and set a PR. 21:44 I am very happy with that. That is the fastest I have ever ran a mile. Most of my training is at over 9 min. per mile.
