I really like this idea...in fact, I was sort of doing it by myself last season. I figured many of my training bricks were sprint distance tri's or more, so why pay to do sprint or other short tri, esp. when you're a MOPer like me. So, count me in...at least for the mid to late summer one(s).

It seems like most people can make Sunday, May 17th at 9am. Try to get there early to set things up, and we can all start the swim at the same time, to best mimic a true triathlon setting The distances will be whatever you choose, and the aim will be to have fun!

Rick, I can help recon the course, then we can print out some maps/directions so we're all on the same page. If we get there early enough on Sunday, before we start, we could even bring chalk and mark the roads!!

Trying hard to make Sunday work for me as well.  "Start" time may be a big factor since it'll be LONG commute for me in the morning if I have to bring the family out as well.

Hey, quick update. I'm on an international flight on the 17th,  so I'm likely a no-go for the event - there's a small chance I will have a late enough flight to be there for part of it - but if that's the best date, keep it.

In the next 2 weeks, I will schedule some time to recon, mark the course, and lay out the detail...that will take place the weekend of the May 2nd, which is when I get back from Amsterdam, or alternate date may 9th. Actually, May 9 probabably works better.  I'll also put up threads for the non-tri stuff, like food and beverage, and support, like timing, wrenches, etc.

Seeing as I live right around the corner from Kensington, if anyone is coming from out of town and needs a place to stay or if we need a base of ops nearby, then we can use my house.

Rick, when you get ready to recon, let me know and I'll meet you out there.

PS:  I will still be there doing security, et al, but am hopefully bringing along my non-BT BFF to do a du with you all.  Her very first ever multi-sport even will be at Ann Arbor, so I think she'll totally want to do this.

I am in for the 17th as well. I don't know if the Achilles will let me run by then, but I will do as much as I can!

This *MIGHT* be a silly question, but... is EVERYONE planning on having wetsuits for the swim?  I don't know how cold the water is/will be, but at this point in time, I do not own a wetsuit.

Am I the only one who is going to be freezing their mcnuggets off?

Are you going to be racing this year? If you are, it might make sense to get your wetsuit sooner, rather than later, and practice wearing it at our 'fun' triathlon. I am a complete wuss when it comes to cold water, so I will definitely be wearing my wetsuit!

I'll definitely be wearing a wet suit.  I'm not sure what the water temp will be either, but can't imagine it'll be anything that you could call warm.

Wetsuit for sure...not a big deal if you don't have one though, you will just be a bigger trooper.

I don't have a wetsuit either.  I already prepare for shrinkage.

I'm in. I convinced my wife this is a good idea! I may have even convinced here to come help/watch.  Anyone else coming over from the west side?

Not that far west...just South of Lansing, but I plan on coming.  Family is TBD.
