Ah dang, I better sign up when I get paid for July (only get paid once a month).

THANK YOU for NOT making the athletes walk back to their cars... on a busy road... up/down hills. That was such a horrible cluster both years. It was dangerous and pretty miserable for the athletes.

So thanks for the T2 NEXT to the parking lot!

Of course, we say this now... but once we do it... we might have something new to complain about.

as you probably know, our goal is to have the BEST races/experience for athletes AND families. This is certainly a way to improve the event

All right, signed up and paid.

OUCH. $240 plus a $16 processing fee. OUCH. See Keith, I said we would find something else to complain about.

That processing fee is nuts though. I know it is out of your hands though Keith... so don't take it as a complaint towards you.

you can mail it in, you know. If you want to do this, let me know. I can cancel the registration with the registration company, and then you can just mail in with a check. Since you just registered, it's not hard to do.....

Oh, I'm just b@tching. You are very kind to make that offer.

IF you can cancel it, then yes I'll mail it in. If you can't, and it's a huge issue... then don't worry about it. You are being way too kind and generous. Thank you very much.

Like I said, if you can't... no worries. I'll just eat out less.

Look like I won't be there this year Our company denied us our bonuses because of "the economy". Despite the fact that we qualified for them and earned them. Since I'm getting married in a month, I don't have the extra money. Oh well. Guess I can get a head start on mountain bike and marathon season training

AFAIC the price for this race is a bargin.  Endorfun is the best at what they do.  There is a long list of races that are way over priced, and this is not one.  You will definately get your money's worth from Keith and the guys at Longhorn.

I plan to use up $250 in gatorade & cold towels on the run course alone.

(hint hint Keith: cold towels)

yes, we'll have cold towels, and probably SNOW. We had both last year, but have a better plan for it this year.
I also think the race is a bargain for the experience

Look, it's INCREDIBLY expensive to put the event on, the way we want it to be. We don't skimp on anything for you

With the finish line change, it also costs alot of extra dough. We have 2 set ups, and have to rent both Walter E. Long Park AND the Arena, which isn't cheap. We've got a lot of new stuff in store for you....

I've done two Lone Star races and traveled to NH for the Mooseman. Endorfun puts on a great race.

Yea I remember them last year, they're the only reason I didn't shuffle off into the woods and hang myself from a cedar tree. They were _VERY_ appreciated, I just wanted to mention them to make sure they're out there again this year.

For the record, I was NOT complaining about the entry fee of $240.00. I found that to be perfectly reasonable. It's a great race and this will be our 3rd year returning.

It was the processing fees of $16 that caught me off guard. Typically I only pay around $2 in processing fees.

Oh well... it is done and paid for. Longhorn HIM here I come! I'll just use that $16 in processing fees out on the run course in the form of food and beverages.

I don't mind paying the entry fee either. I loved the Lonestar Tri in Galveston this year and it was AMAZING. By far the best tri I've been too...It's alot of money for a poor college student

I'm not complaining about the fee either, more of a question.
Why are some 70.3-branded-races so much more expensive than others? For example, Ironman Kansas 70.3 was $150 to register up until around the month before the event, then it went up to $175 I think. This year it's $175 for early registration fee. But just comparing that to what I paid for Longhorn, it makes me wonder.

Is it simply the popularity of the event?
The fact that people are willing to pay that much?
Is it the different regions' cost of living and expense differential?
Do you really get "more" at one race vs. the other?

I ask because from what I understand (I could be wrong?) the full IM distance (domestic) events are a pretty standard $550 entry fee, but the 70.3 distance fees are all over the board. Just wondering why.

I just signed up and I'm already nervous. It will be my longest event ever, even longer than that night in college where I...no, it will be my longest race ever. I need to HTFU and get my KSH abs in order! So much time, so little to do--strike that, reverse it.

Just pulled the trigger.  Guess I need to get my rear in gear now...no more missing training days.
Gonna be my first 1/2, third race ever and super pumped!
Time to pray for cooler weather (102 again in Pflugerville)
