Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) hornsfan - 2009-08-03 10:44 PM So I was at the clinic last Saturday and I just looked at the course on the website. Look here on Page 8 http://www.onurleft.com/OnUrLeft_Sports/BRIDGELAND_TRIATHLON_files/ATHLETE%20INFO%20PACKET.pdf This image is obviously before it was all developed out but I could swear in the clinic we were getting out at the bottom little "triangle" that was closer to Fry Rd. Anyone who was at the clinic remember? I'm no map expert (that would be John) but I'd say that looks about right to me. |

Hornsfan. Man... that would be a long run up to transition! The map is correct from what the RD described. Keep in mind this can always change, doubt it, but can. There was a pavillion next to where they were talking. That's where the "end" sign is on the map is. Not sure if you remember the kayaker's dropping their boats off behind the speakers on Saturday. That triangle you are reffering to is down past them. Which brings up something else. The RD says he'll put balloons or something on that pavillion so when you hang a right at the buoy, you can use that balloon's to site. |

Extreme Veteran 599 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Thanks for the swim info guys. I was planning on starting on the outside anyway so the extra distance is no big deal. I would rather swim more than get kicked more. KeriKadi - 2009-08-03 6:22 PM Betsy - I was about waist deep when the race dude (Aaron) said the start would be a bit further out but that they still needed to map it so I think it very likely will depend on where you place yourself in the wave. I don't really want to be treading water before the start so I may end up placing myself a little further back. |

Triathlete Nation ~ Texas! | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Aaron & Ben at Onurleftsports are pulling out all the stops... even with the race sold out (maybe it was the radio stations timing) But there was a radio commercial for the Bridgeland's Triathlon on 93.7 the Arrow yesterday. "If you like to swim, bike and run... come join us at the Bridgeland's Triathlon" I was like... WOW! I guess it's a sign at just how the tri craze is really starting to take off. Having to register earlier and earlier to get into races... at all distances! Heck, Try Andy's Tri (800 participants ~ very popular first timers race in Oct... SOLD OUT as of Monday 8/3) CRAZY!!! |

Triathlete Nation ~ Texas! | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Sorry for hijackin' the BL's thread... but, Andy Stewart (fir TAT) will be reselling unclaimed race packets on the Saturday before the race10/17 at FLS in Sugarland... beginning at 4pm I think. You could always continue to prep for it and then try and get a packet that way. Summertime Blues Tri, Clear Lake, and Ironstar is about all in the way of Tri's left locally (I think). Du the Bear Duathlon is a good Oct race... 2/12/2 on Oct 11. Just some options for y'all. |

Bummer, that was going to be my last race of the season too. Looks like TriGirl might be it. I almost forgot about one other... Firethorne (formerly Cinco). Dave Rainey has a new First Timers swim wave this year too. Shorter swim (200m vs 500m), then the same bike & run. Oct 25... just another option. I may try and get my wife to do this one as her second (TAT being her first). |

I knew it was filling up but on HRTC not too long ago they said to make sure you signed up this MONTH, not last WEEK! They were also talking about Bridgeland on The Buzz and had a link to it on their home page. |

Expert 790 | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) The chance of thunderstorms is mostly likely in the afternoon when temps are their highest. In regards to 30% chance of rain...... with it going to be 95 outside, I wouldn't mind it sprinkling a little during the run. |

Never been to a tri before but I would have to say this one was very well organized and I'll be doing this one every year. Good job On Ur Left. |

Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Super T - 2009-08-09 5:12 PM How did they run out of water bottles for the pink cap girls? They didn't have water bottles for the blue cap girls either but Craig was nice enough to give me his. When I got to the 1 mile water station they were out of cups! I picked two up off the ground and had them fill it up - good thing I'm not a germ phobe! I hope the gal I handed the other one to wasn't a phobe either (she may have assumed I handed her a clean cup). Out of pizza before I got to the pool! The trophies are interesting, unique for sure! But I love it because it's mine Ken keeps telling me it's cool because it's so 'different'. Freddie the Frog ala New Zoo Review has a temporary home on our mantle. This was the FUNNEST race ever though because I heard my name so many times I was a bit sad because we left the kids at home for this one and I knew I wouldn't be hearing their little voices but all you guys totally made up for that. I heard my name a lot yesterday and it was VERY cool! Having everyone there at the finish line was amazing - there are advantages to being slow! Congratulations to Houstonrider for rocking out his first race in speedy style! You beat my swim by 16 seconds! Hanging out with Evondo & Betsy before the race kept the nerves down to a dull roar. I will say I won't be going sockless again! The blister count is at 4 and right now that is what is keeping me from signing up for Clear Lake. Not sure if one of them in particular will heal in time. You guys are so awesome! I am so blessed to have such an incredible group of folks to train with! |
