A little madness:  You just keep it up and the world will be your oyster.  (gotta love the rah rah's)

Oooo--I love oysters...oyster stew, with lots of butter, cream, baconTongue out...Hmmm...this could be a problem.Surprised

Great job everyone!

I'm a little sad that I haven't really been working that hard to change my diet (um, as we speak I have a carton of ben and jerry's in my lap)...it's totally emotional eating (being lonely in a new city, being exhausted from a crazy day in court, and mad at myself that i'm not as motivated as i wish i was...).  and i know after my workout tonight, i'll feel better....but right now, just so blah which makes the eating hard.

anyway...for the numbers:
Starting: 158 (ish)
wk1: 156.6

(ultimate goal is 135, and august goal is 150)

Okay,  No more oyster stuff for Madness.

Pennylope,  We all have our days.  The point is not to let them become our life.  A day is a day,  but tomorrow is the start of a new life...

Aug start: 158
8/5: 157.8
down .2

End goal: 150

I'm really motivated by reading these posts and excited to watch the progress. Thanks for the inspiration and advice!

In addition to making my planned workouts, I'm going to really use the month of August to build a habit of staying hydrated. I can't start the day with coffee, even decaf, and then move to diet pepsis and expect to feel good by late afternoon. More water and more weight loss!

Weigh-in time again. I can hardly keep up.
I am down a couple pounds this week. I thought that I might have recorded a bigger loss given the increase in workload I have done. There have been a few challenges I have faced this week, losing my job for one.
I have increased my (real) running volume and I am happy with that. I believe that as I increase my running base the weight will come off more readily.
The tale of tape...

Last Week: 278lbs
This Week: 276lbs

Difference: -2lbs

 Looking forward to next week.

Iron Gus, so sorry to hear about the job loss.  I went through that in Feb and nothing anyone told me made me feel better; but, for sure, the one thing that never failed to help me through that time were my long runs (and actually my tri club)...

Good luck!  I'll be sending happy vibes your way!

BAMBAM66 - 2009-08-05 7:43 AM  I am also running again, if you want to call 12 mm running.

Yes, I would call that running.  I call 13 minute miles running.  Heck, when I was doing 1 minute run 3 minute walk, I called it running.  You betcha.

I was down 1.2 pounds.  Woo hoo.  Happy dance.  I don't have the book in front of me and I can't remember what my weight was, but I do know that I was down 1.2 pounds.  Oh, and by the way, did I mention that I was down 1.2 pounds?

Looks like there were a bunch of losers this week.  Way to go!!!  (Weigh to go???)

Hey, my kinda runner! How about an 18.5 minute mile? And it feels darn speedy when I'm out there in the park.

Hey, when I was at my best, I was rocking the 12mm and was so happy with that.  Now, I am back to 15 - 16 mm, trying to get some conditioning back.

Sorry about your job Iron Gus, I hope you find another, better job soon.  Best of luck.

Good job to everyone this week.  This has set a good tone for the month.

Iron Gus, sorry to hear about losing your job...it sucks! I lost mine in March and only recently signed a contract for a new one which I will not start for another couple of weeks. On the positive side, losing my job was exactly how I got into the Tri training and am loving it. Since losing my job, I have probably lost over 20 lbs in total, and still going. Be sure to focus on the positive and the opportunity. Good luck.

Just had a chance to get on the scale today and I have dropped to 263 lbs which is amazing. I am certainly on pace to get to my ultimate goal.

Hey Teammies,

Managed to remember to get on the scale this morning- maybe apart from blood thinning meds they should start giving me something for memory too- and it showed 72kg! The last note that I have in my calendar said 73.4kg so yay! I'd love to hit 70kg this month but all things considered I'll also be happy to get to 71kg or even stay as I am.

Started going to the gym regularly now but it is a struggle- tried training bike yesterday and it hurt soooooooooooooooo much. I even started freaking out that it't the clots again especially that my INR was only 2.0 on Wednesday so waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy too low.

Gus, I'm so sorry to hear about your job! Sending positive vibes!

Also on a positive note, after weeks of rain finally a sunny day!

Good job Cead and glad you are feeling better.  Bad news on the INR I guess.  If I ever find out  what that is I will feel bad for you....LOL.

I have lots of running and swimming to catch up on this weekend. I have lost 6.6 lbs so far in the last 13 days so it is going great. Hopefully another 2-4 this week and i am set.

Cead - Congrats on the loss!  That has to be encouraging.  You weren't sounding very hopeful last we heard from you so this is good!  Take it easy as you get back into things.  A little pain is OK but a lot is not good.  I hope things get better as you continue to work with the doctor.  Did they ever find out what it is or what caused it?

Gus - Good luck with the job hunt.  This is a horrible time to be looking for work but keep at it and I know you'll find something.

I was able to make it back to the gym and try the other scale.  They are either both off by the same amount or the first one was good.  I'm adjusting my goal for the month to 197.

I did my run/walk training yesterday and today, so that's to the good. But last night after dinner I ate a whole bag of Cracker Jacks. I still feel bilious. Why do I do these things? We'll see how my weigh in goes. I'm not sure how long Cracker Jacks take to work their way out of my system.

pdbman, I'm glad the second scale agreed with the first--good going on your weightloss!

Mett, 6.6 pounds is fantastic!

Hope you're having a good weekend, everyone.
