Was totally nervous about my bike commute. Only five miles, but in the dark with t-storms predicted. Yikes! Took it super slow, turned my knuckles white from gripping too hard (note to self: GET GLOVES!!), made it in about 20 minutes. Not too shabby, given the pucker factor and hills. Found out the shower at work is deeeeeLUX! Ver' nice.

So I was super starving when I got to work, but it is Tuesday, which means it is actually semi-sorta-kinda busy. So I grabbed a 100-cal pack to tide me until I could cook. The new Nabisco Sweet & Salty Kettle flavor. Decent, but I'm not sure it'll become a staple.

Then, I got to cook up my jasmine rice and my Punjab eggplant. Yum! It is always spicier than I remember, but the jasmine rice helps smooth it out. I added 1 tbsp of margarine to boost the fat a bit. Unfortunately, though, I only have 400 cals left for the day and the other half of my dinner is 450, plus my 100 cal bedtime shake. Hmmm...MORE PUSHUPS!!!

Wanted very much to throw in an extra workout, but my knees have been killing me, so I'm taking it easy. Really wanted to OWS, but I don't swim alone and I couldn't be guaranteed of anyone remotely capable being around. Eh, oh well.


Was this your first time commuting?

I just moved so my commute has gone from 2 miles to 6.  I'm thinking about switching my commuter bike from my hybrid to my unused roadie.  Sounds like a good weekend project.

9 miles on the TRAINER last night.  Was supposed to be an outside ride, but ending up spending some time on Facebook and eBay, and before I knew it, it was 15 min from sunset.  I'm such a slacker...

Ran 2.25 miles last night.  I really didn't want to do it.  That's why I didn't go very far.  I felt a little better after getting it done.  I'm up to 7.59 miles out of 30 now!  Yippee!!!

Yes you are!!!!  I'm trying to come back from having a baby so my goals are pretty low.  Even though I didn't state this for the challenge, my cycling goal is to ride outside at least once per week.  It is not going well.  The trainer wins most of the time since I'm taking care of my cute little baby.  He lays on the floor or in his bouncer watching me.  Anyway, you do what you can do and try to challenge yourself to do just a tiny bit more without hurting yourself or overtraining.

Hmmmm....I thought we were a little on the not so chatty side.  I guess that's what happens when you are used to being on teams that fill up multiple threads in a month. LOL!

I hear you there!  While it's kind of fun to see how all the grown up triathletes train, feeling good about my little 14 mile is a bit harder after reading everyone else's distances.

The challenge is about pushing yourself and being held accountable to your team.  If that is 20 minutes or five hours it does not matter.

5 mile run at lunchtime on the TREADMILL (work fitness center)...gasp!  I really should have run outside, but had a meeting after lunch so had to keep it close...

Yes, Yes, that was what I was thinking....not YET! Long term goal is Coeur d'Alene IM! But I will settle for something a wee bit smaller.
