I am Marianne, this is my third season of triathlons. I completed my first HIM this past year. I plan on running Boston this Spring ( NOT BQ or anywhere near it!!!!) I got injured this summer and had to take 5 weeks off...but I am back at it and need to put in some serious running time. I plan on running 75 miles. I am hoping to up that goal but wanted to be conservative to start. I really dont like to run...would much rather swim or bike...so I NEED this challenege!!!!!!! Lets get the party started!!!!! |

Should be a nice and chatty month here. Everyone got a run planned for the first day of the challenge? I *heart* Chatty Challenge Teams. I might do a run on Oct 1st. Of course, I'm not on your team, but.... |

Master 1322 Chicago | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Joblin - I'm sorry we'll miss you. I also vote for you as cheerleader! Well I put my goals in as 15 sessions of :30-:60 mins (aiming for every other day). I may do some longer runs and do plan to hit the :60 more often then not, but I dialed the minimum down a bit to be reasonable... I will do some just walking on the alternate days, but I decided not to count walk time unless it's coupled with some run time. Go Running Pumpkins! |

Extreme Veteran 608 Iceland | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Hi all, actually I did run today and it was fine as long as I stay with shorter distances. I could be in but need to have a very low goal for this month. Will challenge myself to 50K of running and walking. Of course I can also cheerlead Go Team, Go team....(it would help if I could rhyme too lol) I am in Spain right now surrounded by Ironmans....you just need to do something to not feel left out |

Veteran 260 Simsbury, CT | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge SWEET BABY JESUS YES!!!! I think... I think I have found my pace for running! I have been most comfortable over my last few runs between 140-146 HBM. Ran the 1.24 loop around my house very smoothly and ran at a faster pace than ever before!! I am going to blow the 30mile goal out of the water! Hopefully I will hit 45miles or so this month. Which would be huge for me! Frickin little chilly here today, but love the trainer I bought for my bike!! Off to swim. Oh BTW my uncle is throwing out the 1st pitch of the Red Sox game tonight so I am going to be on the field for that!!! Which will be awesome! What a kick day of training and Sox! I think I am done the verbal diarrhea.... |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Hi all, late on the scene here. Good to see some familar faces. I actually don't know how far I will run as my coach only feeds me 1-2 weeks of workouts at a time. I have just finished a month recovery post IM and am building back up, have a 30k trail race towards the end of the month (5kish feet of climbing according to the add, yay) and some recovery after that. I will go conservative with 110 miles and up it if I need to. Background: I live in the middle of nowhere CA, am 42 years old, happily married 20 years, 5 kids, 17 down to 4 years of age. I came off the couch 9/07 with no background in anything. I did a sprint 12/07 and then just moved up the progression over the past 2 years with 1 5k, 2x 10 milers, 1 half mary, 1 30k trail run, 1 full mary, 1 sprint, 1 Oly, 2 HIM, and I completed my first IM (Vineman) in 8/09 Yay. I am a Clinical Psychologist, School Psychologist, Program Specialist and lots of ologists and ists as part of my job covering about 10 school programs. Some of my students like to refer to me as a Psycho-ologist. Race wise I have a 30k trail run in October, another one in November and then a marathon in January. Temps dropped from 90s last week to 50's this week, so time to stop worrying so much about hydration and more about brrr (25F this am). I am lowsy with technology, but will try to figure out the spreadsheet thing. I am officially a spoiled triathlete, I did my first swim in a fully operational Swimspa lastnight at my home after over a year of contractor nightmares. Hopefully the heater will have that water temp a bit warmer for this weekend. It turns out it takes more than a couple hours to heat the tap water up to a comfortable tempurature. |

Would love to hear how you like the swim-spa thing! Seems like a nice alternative..... If I got one of those, I could probably drop my gym membership! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Your gym membership is cheaper. My closest pool for 10 months out of the year, however is 100 miles away (200 miles round trip). So even only getting in 2 swims a week was 8 hours of driving. It just got up and running lastnight, but I did get nearly a mile in before I had to do other things. It is not that hard to stay where you are supposed to be in the pool or to increase or decrease the speed and it does not let you drop off on your pace for the last 5-10 minutes of the workout. I have the top end of swimspas, however and it has a top end of like 3.5 mph or something crazy like that. It should be loads of fun. The kids got to play in it lastnight too. It looked like an otter exhibit at a zoo. Edited by Baowolf 2009-10-01 1:01 PM |
