Oh yea, I'm in.  I want to start training with power and this may be just the thing to make me buy those new Speedplay/powermeter pedals.

Target date is 1st quarter '10 (look under availablity http://www.metrigear.com/products/)

And now back on topic---guess I'll be a little "behind" if you start 11/1 since I'll be tapering and then recovering from B2B (11/7)...  I ASSume that others like me/IMFL/IMAZ folks can just pick up where you are or just start the whole program  a little bit late??

I would like to join as well. Thanks for this JorgeM this is just what I will need. Going trainer shopping today anyway, I'll be a HRM user too - no power tap here.

I've never been coached so this sounds great.  I'm in.  Just our of curiosity, what would a 15% increase in power translate to in speed?

I did a little math at analyticcycling.com

For someone who is 85 kg for bike and rider (187 pounds), on the flats (assuming .25 cda and .004 crr for those interested in the details), going from 200 watts to 230 watts equates to going from 22.97 mph to 24.20 mph, or an increase of 1.23 mph.  For someone going from 150 watts to 172.5, it's an increase from 20.58 to 21.72, or 1.14 mph.

Gopennstate, thanks for the feedback.   Good perspective (I'll have to come up with some creative ways to keep the kids busy).

Some ideas...my kids (last year they were 3 & 5) would get their own water bottles & towels to wipe their pretend sweat, and they sit on the couch spinning their legs in the air like they're biking....every time i take a drink, they do too, i wipe sweat, they do too.  We turn the lights off and blast the music and it is a trainer PaRtaY!

Mila gave me an idea that she has walkie talkies with her kids and they get instructions from her while she's on the trainer to go get various things (like little missions) and have a ball.

You can make anything work if you want to!

Sounds like fun. Is the "power display" on my Computrainer accurate enough or should I go by HRM/RPE?

This doesn't sound great. This sounds very painful.

             But I'm in. Thanks, Jorge.

Jorge,
Will it be possible to use the program on a delayed basis?  I would like to start the program sometime around or right after Christmas because I don't want to overlap the cycling program with the marathon training program I am doing for a Dec. 12th marathon.  It will be my first marathon and I am putting in more miles running than I have ever done in my life.  I think your training sessions were archived and remained available last year, weren't they?

Thanks,
Greg

I'll follow along and go the HR/RPE route.  I need to make gains, but really just need to do something consistent with the bike.

sounds great, finally bit the bullet and picked up a trainer a few weeks back, which allows me to add 2-3 60-90 minute sessions per week on the bike which is awesome, having some structure added to those sessions would be awesome-r

Jorge,

    Already set up with:
       Computrainer in basement
       Gi-normous fan
       A great attitude
Massive need for structured cycling training!

I am assuming your plan is perfect for me by the enthusiastic posts.

Its enough to get me out of the lurker mode!

BTW  I am signed up for HIM-Kansas  (moving up from sprint)

    thanks,
         Dave

I am in to do my best in the HR usage.  I have a marathon Dec 6th,  but I don't think this should hurt it to much (its my first so I wouldn't know the difference anyway).

Sounds interesting.  I have finally cleared out my garage and set up my trainer in there for the winter with a large tv and dvd player to view the trainer videos.  I am hoping to, if not gain, at least stay in shape over the winter.  That and a shite load of snow shoveling should do the trick ...
