deehtz - 2009-10-27 10:47 AM So I have a newbie question...
I have been running 3-4 days a week. Biking 1-2 a week
(though that has dropped to 0-1 lately
). And just lately added swimming once a week. ST is usually 2 a week. I have been doing my ST on the scheduled REST day.
The more I look at different plans, the more I think that maybe it really means not to do ST on REST day. Keep in mind that all of my workouts are at a beginner level. I just don't want to be shootin' myself in the foot.....so to speak

Does REST day truly mean no real physical activities?
They could mean that or they could mean some active rest (walks). I listen to my body and rarely take a "Rest" day where I do nothing at all - probably 1 or 2 times a month max for no activity and that is usually because life is pretty busy and I don't have time to fit an easy workout in.
To me rest = an easy bike ride, a walk with the family in the park, playing football with my son.
You can also get a day of rest by altering your workout times - Workout early 1 day then sleep in and work out in the evening. I do that a lot and end up with about 24 hours of rest in.
I hope this makes some sense and I am sure others have input as well.
I had wondered the same thing too, thanks for the answer to someone else's question.
