I will start thinking of names but agree winter would be nice since it will be January.. Then on to goals. Bike, ST and Walk/Run for me. January will probably be mostly walk for me but I want to get going in the right direction and something is better than nothing. Stacie You bet it is!! And with three goals, it doesn't sound like you are doing nothing! Thanks again. Sometimes I feel bad since I am logging walking on a tri board. But right now I want to motivate my hubby and this is the best way I can as doing it with him. We have all hopes to be up to running by the end of January. For now I put the goals down as walk, bike, core and strength. core I want to make separate from strength so I focus on core that day and the other days I focus on the rest of the body (if that makes sense). For some of us, walking is the way we finish tri's Thanks - I didn't mean to offend anyone if I did. I just see a lot of times people post in their blogs "not going to log the walking because it isn't a workout".. I'm one of those that doesn't log walking for warm ups or cool downs. Walking is a fantastic exercise that SHOULD be included in logs if it is your form of intentional movement for the day. Don't feel bad about logging walking on a tri board. This is a friendly venue that encourages people to be active and promote the sport of triathlon to a wider audience. Congratulations to you and your husband for being healthier! BTW.....if I had beer in the house, I would totally drink it! I love a nice stout or porter! |

I have a cool graphic but everytime I leave my log it disappears so I am not sure what the issue is so this one has a pretty plain background until I can figure out the graphic thing.

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: Wind Chill Warriors (Team 3) - January Challenge Wow Norine. What a year you had. Hope this new year and this challenge marks a change for the better. Despite our name. I am NOT running outside today. It is 20 degrees with a 20+ MPH wind. I am in the South for pete's sake. It will either be a strength or a trainer ride for me. |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: Wind Chill Warriors (Team 3) - January Challenge Stacie, No worries on logging walking. What ever is a workout for you. You can't compare where you are with anyone else. Read the quote from Kim in my signature. She wrote that when I was bewailing how much better athletes everyone else is than me and how that made me feel self conscious. I copied it so I could see it often and realize how true it is. Great job on day 10 and avoiding all those temptations!!! |

Name is Sal. Just registered for 2 sprint tris and a half ironman (HIM) last night. Have experienced windchills in the -30s, so should feel pretty comfortable here on this team. Happy New Year all and good luck! Got 3 miles in this morning...I'll post my goals soon... YAY! Another Canadian...I haven't been on the same team with another for awhile I just registered for a HIM today! Woo Calgary! Well...not exactly a Canadian (Minneapolis, which is about as far nort as you can get widout being Canadian, doncha know), but a lot of my BT friends are Canadian. Congrats on signing up for the HIM...I'm still trying to break 6:30 myself... Hahaha...this is the difference between us... Your version: Well...not exactly a Canadian (Minneapolis, which is about as far nort as you can get widout being Canadian, doncha know), but a lot of my BT friends are Canadian. My version: Well...not exactly a Canadian (Minneapolis, which is about as far nort as you can get widout being Canadian, eh?), but a lot of my BT friends are Canadian. Ah...I just got the Canadian vibe off of the "Canada: North America's Penalty Box"..../ also mistook MN for MB (dont ask, I apparently don't mail things---my grade 5 teacher would be horrified because I'm pretty sure thats where I learned postage protocols)...I was imagining you living somewhere near Winnipeg...which also has -30 windchills..haha Brr...-8F WITHOUT windchill here today (-22C for the benefit of the Canadians)...feels like Winnepeg... I just see a lot of times people post in their blogs "not going to log the walking because it isn't a workout".. I think it depends upon where you are with your training, and what type of goals you have. For example, I log my walking. But if my goal was to RUN farther each day, then I might not. (Or I might log it separately.) That way, I could track my actual "running" improvement/efforts. That's why, when I set up a challenge, I let everyone define the activity themselves. Some people want elliptical work to count as "running," and other people don't. So I leave it up to everyone to define the "activities" for themselves. And this is why I love your challenges! And BT! It is do what is right for you, this whole sport to me is so individual, to take it to the level that you want.... |
