Rich,

Do it!! DO IT! DO IT!!!

I just started running this year and I have foolishly bravely agreed to do my first marathon run ever! If I can do it, you can do it.

Wait 'til the petite little momma's go whizzing buy you pushing the twin strollers - that's a humbling moment.

Do it Rich,

I am very heavy and very slow runner and will be doing my second marathon in a couple of weeks. It is not about how fast you are but that you are doing something good for your body and enjoying yourself. Nothing beats the feeling of the finish of a half or full marathon.

That happened on my first (and only so far) 5K a few weeks ago. Those things are so heave I don't know how she did it and did it so fast.

I am still considering the 1/2 - I am planning to try a 10K in November and see how that goes. Right now I don't have much time to train and it is HARD when I try to increase my distance but we'll see.

Ok.
I have decided to do the gasparilla 1/2. I figure that since the running is my worse of the three that it would be a great tune up for the season and st. ants. Thanks for the urging and support.

Ok, I have not been around for ever.  I moved from Ottawa Canada to Orlando and have not really run for about 2 months.  Anyway I have been back at it here in Orlando for about 2 weeks now and I plan to do some good training now that life has settled down a bit.  Wow big moves are hard!!!!!! Anyway 2 months with no running means my endurance now sucks!  So I will get going now and wait and see if I will do the 1/2 or the full in Tampa.

Renee, there is still BBQ involved in this deal right??????? I am not sure I can commit unless there is BBQ!

Sarah, I was wondering where you've been! Sue and I (or maybe it was Jessica and I) were talking about you, wondering if you still planned to come for the marathon.

Karl and I are going to be planning festivities. I'm sure there will be BBQ in there somewhere.

It's my understanding that the half course doesn't go through downtown and ballast point. It just loops around Davis island, down Bayshore and turns at Bay to bay.

In preparation for my FIRST MARATHON EVER, I will be running the 1/2 mary (X-Country at Alafia State Park) in 2 weeks (Jessica's gonna pace me!). There's another 1/2 mary the day after Christmas at the Sunshine Trail; told Jessica I will be running that with her.

Jess and I talked about socializing with BTers for the Gasparilla Marathon. Tossing out a few feeding ideas for now - Pane Rustica on MacDill for pasta dinner, Taqueria Quetzlcoatl for burrito lunch (we could quickly overwhelm the little place but that makes it even better!). Both are in the general vicinity of the race start.

Thanks to Renee for letting me know there's a group of us going! I'm in for the FULL, I'll be running with a friend of mine who is dedicating the race to her mom who died of Lymphoma, and our best friend Terri who is presently battling breast cancer. See you all there! I'm in for whatever eating place is decided on! Bring on the pasta!
