So it is true there is going to IM woodlands and it will be next May, the date has not been set for sure but it will happen. In April there will be a lotto for the entry but they will draw no names.

I think to be able to read this thread one needs to enter a lottery. Then the
Houston marathon 'leadership' will let you know if you are allowed read it in 2 or 3 weeks. Beats a taper all to death.

This was posted today on the "other" forum. Please tell me it isn't going to be this late in May. Can't you give us some other hints? My son graduates from high school next year. Knowing the time of the year and date of this ironman would be really helpful!

Latest that I'm hearing is to expect an announcement any day now. Race date of Memorial Day weekend. Gonna be a hot one if true.

As much as I want to do an Ironman Texas, I do not know that I want to do it at the END OF MAY...it's hitting the mid-90's and super humidity that time of year...definitely think I've settled on IMCdA for 2011 summer....

 agreed... the advantage of warmer spring time weather is lost if the race is end of May,

Whoever posted the possibility of a Memorial Day date has zero credibility with me. That would dumb to the point of negligence. CapTex can be brutal enough it's only an Oly. Houston would be even worse because of the humidity.

Not sure who is posting on the other site, but it can only be about 4-5 people around here with that info that I can think of. As to the date, I personally would prefer late March, but if I recall correctly, there might be another race that is hot, humid and tough. The age of the "finish the marathon in a jacket or long sleeve shirt" is a new one, and I'm personally not a fan. Ironman roots are in tough conditions, not ideal ones. While it could be a heck of a tough day, I would still sign up. Great prep for another Ironman location.

So true - the year I did HH100 it was actually a welcome reprieve from the Houston heat and humidity. At least if we were out there racing we'd get an IM Woody shirt for our efforts

Plus Thumpr - I already asked you to line up the firefighters to hose us off on the run course...You are going to line that up for us, aren't you???

Texas state law requires meeting notices to be posted 72 hours in advance.

The Woodlands Township posted on Friday, June 11 an agenda of their Board of Director's Workshop for Thursday, June 17. The Workshop will determine which items are placed on the Regular Agenda for its monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 23.

Item # 9 of the following document states "Receive and consider a major event coming to The Woodlands;" --
