I'm back from my afternoon ride. It was a little delayed. I was shanghaied on my way out. 45 minutes later I was on my way out again.

Yeah, see.... A taser would have helped with that.

Today was supposed to be the first day of really serious training, but my bike and the road had other thoughts.

I started out for a 44 minute ride today and 1.6 miles into the ride, I slipped off the road and into the gutter and found a metal grate and found myself on the ground.  Front wheel is a little bent, and I have some road rash, but i'm okay, but not sure when I'll be able to get my bike fixed, so it may be swimming and running only for me until I get the bike fixed.

I know this is a smack talking challenge, but I am lacking motivation right now...

Ouch! Hope you and the bike are OK.

Of course, it will be difficult to decide who is winning the post padding secondary challenge, since you won't see the team thread pages getting larger! LOL

Secondary challenge? This is my first time doing a challenge on BT but it seems like the post padding is the focus here. Is there anything important that gets posted in here?

Mmmm. Let me think..... Mmmmmm. Well..... I guess on occasion, there might be a post of significance. But yeah, most of it is just post padding.

Hey, we have to get to 20K posts somehow, right? Not that, um, I have anyone in mind when I say that. LOL

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it. I just want to make sure it's ok to not go back and look for anything pertinent if I miss a day or two of reading.

I try to make the updates in a different color. So if you want to find the current standings, look for something like that. (Last month, I did them all in green. But that may mean that I'm bored with green by now, so I may use a different color.) Generally, I try to do the updates on Sunday afternoons though, and I do try to make them stand out from the chatter.

Of course, if people start posting pictures, it makes it harder to find the updates. (Generally, someone decides that either the thread or they are hungry. So they start posting food pictures. LOL)

To me the post padding serves multiple purposes.  There's the socializing and getting to know fellow BTer's. There are little bits of wisdom and other things that are occasionally shared. But most of all, there is the support and comraderie that gives motivation and helps to keep me going. Normally the challenges are team events and the post padding builds friendships. Then I don't want to let my team down and that gives me the little extra kick in the behind that I need to get me out the door some days.

Plus it also helps me stay awake when things get slow at work.

I'm trying to decide if that ^^^ was a post pad, or a post of actual significance. Hm......

Tomorrow is my first time running with the Marathon Training Team (I was on vacation for the first 3 weeks).  I am SO nervous.  I've been running, but it's been a big struggle lately.  At it's 7 miles tomorrow.  I really hope I don't die.

Deep down, I know I can run 7 miles, but can I do it now?

    Place holder post!

Need to come back later to see what's going on.  This lets me know where to begin reading again!

Well this is a novel idea. And it serves two purposes, place holding and post padding.
Well, I have to admit -- I often try to find my last post, and start reading from there. But I never thought to actually make a Placeholder. Nicely done!

    Thank you sir and madam!

I should probably decide my goals for the month.

I didn't "recognize" you at first with your new lion outfit on.

Heh, I've changed mine, too. And once Cat assigns TdF teams, I'll probably change it again.

Maybe I should bring back the pink poodle.

    Hi Dee,

Is it too late to join the challenge?  If yes, no problem - I'll catch you next time.  If no, thanks - I'm new to the site and could use some motivation in this Texas heat!

The lions are one of my favorite part of the Tour.  I'd love one of the stuffed ones.

Don't worry, it took me awhile to recognize you too.  It's not one of your usual ones.

I don't usually look forward to rest days, but today's scheduled rest day could not have come at a better time, so I have time to rest my road rash and wrist.  I'll be back at it tomorrow with my long run.

I'll be out later tonight for a walk, just to keep moving.  Hopefully, my wrist will not give me any trouble on Monday when I swim and ride (ride will be on a spin bike or my MTB).

Had my first workout of the month this morning: an intense strength training session.  Got a little bit closer to my kcal goal for the month.  I'm off to a slow start and will have to pick it up if I don't want to be caught as a slacker.

Now I'm off to rehydrate with some 4th of July cocktails!  That counts, right?

I know the feeling. I was lucky in that it was really cool this morning (60) when I left to run.  It's a bit warmer now, but not quite as bad as last week.  The heat is killing me this year!
