The driver typically enters an M1 in the front of the hull. The turret basket is where he went in. As far as I know you can reach the driver's position from inside the turret. Otherwise you would have to exit the tank to attend to an injured driver. I can forgive it. You are freaked out, barely survived a zombie attack, a guy is talking on the radio and telling you to make a run for it. I'm not sure any of us would be thinking straight. Besides there is no sun visor under which to hide the keys All of this assumes, of course, that he knows HOW to start and drive a tank. I guess if I were in his situation I'd try, but I'm also guessing it's not as easy as just turning the key. |

Master 2277 Lake Norman, NC | Subject: RE: The Walking Dead BIGNEW - 2010-11-12 12:30 PM TriRSquared - 2010-11-12 10:46 AM your sitting too close, move farther back. Also, why didn't the sheriff guy check to see if he could turn the tank back on? You would be invincible in that thing as long as you have some fuel. But, I guess the noise and slow speed of the thing and not knowing how to drive a tank might kill that theory... Those tanks can go 40+MPH... On a different note I'm kind of disappointed that it's not being broadcast in HD. Looks a bit fuzzy on my big screen. Coming from a former tank gunner... I forget what kind of tank it was. From a pic on the Internet it looks like the turret of an M1A1 Abrams. But first off, NO tank has a hatch on the underside - that's creative liberties on the writers' parts. Generally you want the underside of your tank to be heavily armored against land mines. Having a mine blow under you and a hatch lid rattle around inside like a ping pong ball at super-sonic speeds is generally a bad thing. Tanks aren't exactly intuitive or easy to drive. But if he could get it fired up and took off, it could go 60mph on even terrain and pretty much crush and go over most anything. But you wouldn't normally see one on city streets. Why? The thing weighs near 70 tons almost TWICE that of an 18-wheeler tractor trailer. The real risk in trying to drive one through Atlanta is having it fall through the street and into the sewer or MARTA below. That would end your escape real fast! But as for the show - KICK AZZ!!! One of my new favorites on TV! |

It's not the typical survivor vs. zombie situation of the week. As long as they keep telling strong stories, I'll be there each and every week. I have to admit, I did get a little choked up when the son ran towards his father after seeing him. I thought that particlar scene was really well done. I don't know how many of you are fans of Frank Darabount's 'The Mist' but he cast quite a few people from that movie in 'The Walking Dead.' Highly recommend 'The Mist' as well. One of the best horror films in recent years, in my opinion. I had a hard time with it (seemed a bit hokey with the creatures and all) ... until the end... wow! What an ending! I enjoyed the Mist but I liked Kings written version better (my imagination is way worse than what they did in the movie) I would not say it is one of the best horror films in recent years but it was an extremely well done horror movie, especially being based on a short Story. |

Expert 1690 | Subject: RE: The Walking Dead I actually like how the decisions arent all intuitive, yes he cut off his hand, if zombies were coming through the door no one would make a rational decision. Same with starting and driving the tank, it might not have even occurred to him. We all have these grand plans for the impending zombie apocalypse but this show really captures the spur of the moment screw ups. |

Extreme Veteran 468 | Subject: RE: The Walking Dead Great episode last night, I watched it 3 times. I felt really bad for Jim when he told about how he lost his family. That would definitely be a hard pill to swallow, knowing the only reason you were alive is because the walkers were busy eating your wife and kids. I wonder how long before we see Merle again. |

Master 1391 | Subject: RE: The Walking Dead Last week I met a couple of people that were extras and PA's on 'The Walking Dead.' Pretty cool talking to them about the experience of shooting the show. They had to lay mats down on the ground for the zombies to lay on because the concrete was unbearable. The worst day of shooting was on the roof because of the heat. One of the extra's showed me a pic of his zombie make up and it was pretty cool. He was also one of the hands that was trying to grab the sherrif in the tank. I wish I would have known about this casting call for extras...I would have been the first in line to do that. |

Master 1410 White Plains NY | Subject: RE: The Walking Dead I watched episode 4. Kinda blah compared to the other 3 episodes. Was really confusing as to why they grabbed the Asian dude at first. They were after the bag. I wasn't too impressed with how the "stand off" ended. Felt like they took the easy way out. Didn't want a complete shoot out, but I thought the sheriff woulda come up with something a bit more crafty. How does a nurse become a thug? Well now we know of a possible place they will go in next week's episode. And where the heck did Merle run off to? Did he really take the truck? |

Was anyone else totally screaming into a pillow when the sheriff took the ax to the zombie and started covering himself with the guts? I was grossed out, but at the same time thought it was totally AWESOME!!! I almost threw up, but it was ingenious. |

I'm a wimp though, couldn't make it through Shaun of the Dead, and I haven't tried to watch the Romero films or Zombieland. You will feel sorry for Bill Murray in Zombieland. Ok, finally caught up with WD on comcast on demand. Wife likes it, just not as much as TB. Everytime you see a zombie movie, people always act like they have never seen something like this before in the movie era. Burn them or Shoot the Brain to kill them. The interstate is full of cars and so is the city, learn to hot wire a car....Also it's in Georgia, you have to find a Walmart, or Gun Store or Police station to get some weapons. Or go to Braves stadium to get some bats. Amazing. Meeting the Gang/Vatos turned out to be a nice story. Glad they got Glen back. Good series, only two more episodes. |

Expert 1146 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: The Walking Dead Hate to rehash but why wouldn't Meryl just cut his tumb off vs his whole hand, in order to slip out of cuffs, damn, that's all he had to do! Episode 5 going to the CDC was good I thought. How aweful shooting your sister, and even worse, waiting till she wakes up as a Zombie. All I know is, if this happens, Im headed to a HUMMER dealer, getting the keys, next head to a gun store and fill the back, next head to Wall Mart (good call) or an Outdoor / Nature store and loading up on long term food, from there, high ground! Why these guys want to head into the city every time is not cool, but I get the CDC idea. AND WHY THE HEii did they not grab those 60 CALS sitting at front of the CDC that the military had set up. Im sure in a real life / Zombie situation there would have been abundant shells boxed) Good God, that baby would cut Zombies in half! I like the show but Im missing a lot. Why they don't get any car, since he was siphoning gas that tells me cars work. Yet they use that beat up W- Bago with no water hose! Need food, go to the cars, people stored that when they headed out, canned of course. |

The CDC could have known about it before Rick's coma, and have been keeping it quiet. |

Extreme Veteran 312 | Subject: RE: The Walking Dead Still loving it - though a MAJOR flaw In episode 2 where they put zombie guts and blood on them they are all concerned about getting blood on their skin or eyes. In the last 2 episodes they aren't worried at all - Earl (i think) with the pick ax has blood all over it and resting it on his head, the girl with her sister doesn't worry about her sisters blood, etc etc. Also - they better do a good job expaning why only 1 is left at the CDC, that doesn't seem to make any sense at all. |

I don't really see that as a flaw, just a "better safe than sorry" attitude. Plus, it was Rick who said that, and he had been in a coma for several months and would be the least "educated" about contamination routes. |

I'm trying to figure out why they aren't checking out all the dead soldiers and military vehicles for weapons and ammo. Also could find cases of MREs in the First Sgt's Hummer/Field Kitchen support unit. ok, I'll bite, I liked MREs back in the day. |
