Extreme Veteran 360 San Luis Obispo County, CA | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Eagleman Triathlon : Official Thread Recovery week for me. That was fortunate since it was a bad work week. Although I missed 2 short rides and swims, got more than enough running in. Getting the fine tuning with my bike fit, so feeling pretty good about that.

Smashed it? I would say that's an understatement, that is seriously impressive! You rode almost 15pts above my FTP for 26 miles, so I am gonna keep today's avg watts between me and my powertap. Running a half tomorrow. Essentially paid $40 for a training run with 1400 of my closest friends. |

Good luck in your half tomorrow. Now I just have to ride that kind of power for 56 and be really fresh for a run. Time and patience is all I need. ; ) |

Decided to throw it down for the last 2 and super happy with how that turned out. There might be something to this whole endurance/base training..... |

Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Eagleman Triathlon : Official Thread 10 miler on Saturday. Will try to get in a bike trainer session Sunday - maybe 60 minutes. Or maybe an early ride in the neighborhood before it starts bustling. But Sunday is looking very booked with all sorts of other responsibilities. |

Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Eagleman Triathlon : Official Thread Two hour interval ride on the trainer on Friday, 20 mile run with speed work in last 5 miles (2 hrs. 15min), and a 3 hour ride with race pace intervals and hill work. Today: EASY EASY EASY Is anyone doing the Rock and Roll half or full marathon next weekend? I was going to run the full but am instead racing the half. It fits better with my training since I will not have to take as much recovery. I can run a mediocre full during training anyway Edited by eyeofthetiger2007 2012-03-05 5:20 AM |

Expert 668 Lancaster, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Eagleman Triathlon : Official Thread I may be out as well. I had an MRI a week ago on the left knee and showed multiple tears on the meniscus and a joint effusion with a large Baker's Cyst. I have an appointment with the Ortho on April 9th. Wait and see for now. |

thomas MRI showed "stress related changes in bone." I was on crutches for about a week and out of running for another. I have been running again for this week and did 7 miles on Thursday. My left quad feels like crap, but it's not like it was before I went for the MRI. My docs want me out, but my response was "pain is just weakness leaving the body." If the pain gets severe where I can't bear weight on it again, I will have to be out. I think this will be my last long course. I think reading on the MRI was a bit of an over-read (I am a physician too and had a radiologist friend look at it too), but I definitely have some osteoarthritis in the knee as well. I am 38 and I don't want a new knee by the time I'm 50. I think I will stick to Olympics after this. Running does not agree with me. |

Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Eagleman Triathlon : Official Thread Long bricks are important for any 70.3 but there is a difference between bricks and transition runs. You have to make sure you include hard race pace intensities; those really make a difference. Proper nutrition and hydration was my downfall. That and goin out too fast on the run. Last time I do 5:30s for the first 10k! ;O) |

I think it is pretty conservative. I don't want to run 6x/week. My legs like a little rest even after the short runs. The only change I would make is putting one of the short runs on an elliptical. I just don't feel like paying for the gym. I did a brick run today with some speedwork. I feel pretty good. Now to get in the pool... |

Expert 1296 | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Eagleman Triathlon : Official Thread drcherrybomb21 - 2012-03-24 4:38 PM Granted everyone is different but I thought the same as you a few years ago. But I was constantly getting hurt. Feb 2011 I started with 6 runs a week using the 1:2:3 approach and today will be the first time I miss a workout since. That's hard to swallow. That's like 13 months of 6 a week. This ear infection is just too painful. So no run for me today. gadzooks - 2012-03-24 9:58 AM drcherrybomb21 - 2012-03-24 10:42 AM Sorry to hear about your injury.
