What else is in Wisconsin besides cheese? I have been through there and seen the signs for the house of cheese, cheese museum, and please do not bring up the Dells. What a waste of space!! 2. No, I live on the other side of the state, far, far, far away from the largest ghetto in the world Beer and sausage! Duh! Exactly my point, two things that will slow you down. Also notice, I am the only one representing the Steelhead team today, the rest of my peeps are out training their a@@es off, so bring it on!!! |

Damn, Jazz, with that training volume, you're the Steelhead poster-girl!!! You're in!! Ummm, case anyone was wondering, it's on. BGleich is gonna break 5. I'm going 5:10. Jazz is gonna win her girlie group. There's a lot of love in the Michigan crowd. AND...that scoring doesn't work, hangloose. Pure place doesn't consider how many people are in the AG. My 5:10 might be 100th in the overcrowded AG I work in. But it could still be top 25%. I vote for % rank in AG, with the same math. That way if you stack the deck by getting a bunch of 70yr+ females to race for you (that's not below you, I know it), the competition stays fair. Oh, and someone remind me about the bulls, cubs, white sox, and blackhawks. Lemme work with this...I think I've got it...Down 3-1, 7!!! games behing Milwaukee, 4 games behind detroit, home eating cheetos. |

I have to admit, the funniest WI sign I've ever seen is "Steve's Taxidermy & Cheese" hmmmmm....its what's for dinner....... Oh...and did I mention that SOR is going to kick some major @SS |

That way if you stack the deck by getting a bunch of 70yr+ females to race for you (that's not below you, I know it), the competition stays fair. That's why I pointed out that they are such large races that the fields should be similarly competitive. And the rosters for each team were pretty much set BEFORE yesterday. Except, you know, for a certain last minute addition that could be considered bringing in a ringer. Ahem. I think it would all balance out. If your 5:10 is good for 100th in AG, my 6:00 is going to put me where - 250th? But, if more people feel your suggestion is more fair then we can go that way. I don't really care. In fact, I just realized I REALLY don't care because I think a few posts back Birkierunner (that smokin' fast dude) volunteered to keep track of this for our team so I'll stick to the smack talkin'. If you morons are going to begin associating these races with other things outside of triathlon like professional sports teams and local recreational customs (fancy speak for beer, sausage and cheese) then I have some questions for you. Are 'car flipping and burning' and 'electronics store looting' electives in high school or are they required courses? Just curious how that works. And before you try to claim that all of that happens on the east side of the state I've been to Benton Harbor. When you file your state taxes is there a box to check to donate money to the Michigan Wolverines basketball and football teams?

Champion 9430 No excuses! | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry Okay you win on some issues. 1. It is correctly pronounced Benton Harlem 2. I really don't belong in Michigan because I hate all Michigan sports teams and will gladly pile on ripping on U of M for paying there players and calling timeouts to lose championships and of course underachieving every year in football. 3. But so what if our ecomomy sucks and NAFTA has ripped the heart and soul out of our state we will still kick some Whinny Wisconsin A$$!!! |

Spreadsheet in about 5 minutes... hmmm....I didn't include the words "I could do this in a spreadsheet......" I just said it could be done in a spreadsheet in about 5 minutes. But, I'm not opposed to volunteering. It would take some help from everyone to give their real names, AG, finish times (which would get verified ). Not to sound like a broken record, but if someone is in the Elite master wave I propose that their finish time be used to place them in their actual age group category. The EM wave at Racine only had 14 last year and ages varied widely. |

The EM wave at Racine only had 14 last year and ages varied widely. Works for me. And I'll even set up our roster/data for you, since I volunteered you. You'll just do the math cuz otherwise I'll have to take off my socks and shoes to do long division. It's not a pretty sight. |

Admit defeat now and take it like men or little boys or girly men or whatever. Just cause Jazz will be done and showered before any SOR competitors will see the finish line is no reason to throw the low blows |

Veteran 252 Chicago and therabouts | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry Ok, im a little late jumping in, but if Team SOR will have me and my injured leg, Im in. I do want to remind everyone though that it is so easy to make fun of Wisconsin and it cheese (the cheese castle, fried cheese curds, etc) dont overlook the fierce and ferocious badger. Although it looks small...its has very sharp teeth, almost fang-like and razor sharp claws...It would never back down from a wolverine and frankly, hands down, the badger would kick some serious wolverine a$$ in face to face combat. Dont ever underestimate the badger (and team SOR)! (Unless you catch one after eating some of those cheese curds) JT |

Well I do not have a problem we need a hadicap anyways. Question is can you do the HIM? if your injuried now will you be healed and able to do the race? there is a spirint if you want to hang with the BTs. If you can do the HIM that is great. |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry jtopin - 2007-05-15 9:41 PM Ok, im a little late jumping in, but if Team SOR will have me ... You're in! Welcome. Don't sweat the leg. From your logs it looks like you are taking the smart approach to recovery. Schmize and Whizzzz are both coming off of winter knee surgery and have both been very smart about not coming back too fast - and both doing well now. I hope you have similar success! And this gives me an opportunity to mention something else. All the trash talking is meant in fun. Sure, we'd all like to be dumpster and jazz going for sub 5 hr performances, but you know what? Some of us will come in at 6.5 or 7+ hours. That's fine. The point of making this a challenge is to help motivate us to keep on track with our training over the last few months and then rise to the challenge on race day - regardless of what our individual goals are. If you do that and your time is 7 hours then that's fantastic! Nobody needs to feel like they are not worthy of being part of the challenge. I would even say it doesn't matter if we win or lose as long as everyone is having a successful race, but the fact is that it is easy to say that when you are the team that is going to win. |

For SOR we stick an IV in their arm For Steelhead we shoot 'em and threw them in the cart (vision of scene in the Monty Python movie where they're pulling the corpse cart thru town yelling "bring out your dead" ) |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: Racine Vs. Steelhead HIM Challenge - Lake Michigan Rivalry Ok. Here's the deal. I'm making a list in the goals section of my log of everyone for both races. Hyperlinks included so you can just jump to any of your respective team mates or the opposition for inspires and trash talking. Also, I know there are people registered for each race that have not jumped into the challenge. If you get word to these people let them know if I should add them to the list. If something has changed and someone should not be on the list let me know that too.
