Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement spokes - 2007-12-24 1:09 PM Hmmm... this is a toughie. I actually need to cycle more than I have been at the end of the year. Running... piece of cake. I'll put myself down for two goals and let the challenge master pick which one to balance out the teams, OK? I'll either RUN: 125 or CYCLE: 200 Piece of cake for me to decide, too. You love to run. You're going to run. (And Scout is going to provide "motivation" if you don't.) You also love to bike. Or, at least, my recollection is that you love to bike. So here's your goal for the January challenge. Maybe it will remind you, me and everyone else that, in addition to loving running, you ALSO love cycling. (Although, I think you visit certain cycling websites just for the eye candy.... LOL) CYCLE 200 See? Piece of cake. You'll have Scout for your running motivation. You'll have your January teammates for your cycling motivation. And between them, you'll be a lean, mean running and cycling machine. (Now, if only we could find a way to get you in the pool.... LMAO) |

I'll put myself down for two goals and let the challenge master pick which one to balance out the teams, OK? I'll either RUN: 125 or CYCLE: 200 Oh oh oh cycle cycle cycle! Please, Grand Masters of the January Challenge Universe! [You KNOW I have to follow Scott wherever he may post ...] Hm. You and Scott have the same issue as Tammy and Chris.... One of you has a time goal. The other has a distance goal. If we end up with a small challenge, yes, I can put you on the same team. But I'm thinking it'll be a large group. So I've broken up the teams. There's one for biking-distance, and one for biking-time. I think you and Scott SHOULD be on the same team. That would make a for... um, an "interesting month!" (LMAO at that understatement.) But maybe one of you can change your goal so that you're both doing time.... or both doing distance? That way, I could make sure you're on the same team.... |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement spokes - 2007-12-24 1:19 PM I did a 600 mile cycling month once... but I've found its hard to do much more than 300 if I'm running as well, working, etc. Scout has me scheduled to run 192 miles in January. He's going to make me strong as a bull. Or my legs will explode. Hm. See? I was right. You're already motivated to run. So we need to add cycling into the mix. Plus, if either you or Yanti changes your "units" (time/distance) so they match, then I can put you two on the same team.... And a fun time will be had by all. (Especially those lurking on your team thread. Whoops. Did I say that aloud?) |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement dcossey - 2007-12-24 2:22 PM I'll jump in... It'll be my first ever team challenge. I'll set my goal to run 13 hours in the month of January. I have no idea how many miles that will be. It really depends on how much improvement I see!
Ah, but as long as you run for 13 hours, it doesn't matter how many miles that is. Well, it matters, of course -- but not to the Challenge results. I've got you on the "running by time" team. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement barqhead - 2007-12-24 3:25 PM I think I'd like to cycle in January. But I don't have a mileage goal yet. I will get my training plan from my coach on January 2. Can I pledge 100 miles to start? I may adjust that goal once I get my training plan. Pam Hi Pam! Yes, that works. I've got you down for 100 miles of cycling. Once you get your training plan, we can adjust that, if needed. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement BozNC - 2007-12-24 6:02 PM Dee, I figured out the bike goal. I'll start with a 100 miles. I'll probably up it later depending on the weather. Have a great holiday. Boz Too bad we're only doing ONE goal this month. Otherwise, I'd make up a swim goal for you. Just 'cause I know you "love" to swim. (Hahaha) Anyway, I've got you on the bike-distance team. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement January Teams - How they're being set up.... I have 6 teams being set up: Swimming - Distance goals Swimming - Time goals Biking - Distance goals Biking - Time goals Running - Distance goals Running - Time goals So if you declare a biking goal of 100 miles, you'll be on a different team than someone who has a biking goal of 20 hours. If you really want to guarantee that you're on the same team as someone else, please give a goal with the same "units." (ie: both of you declare a running hours goal... Or both of you declare a running distance goal.) This will make it easier for me to honor your teammate requests. This is a little different from how we've done it in the past. However, I think it will make it easier to manage the teams. Also, this month is the runners vs the swimmers vs the bikers. So I thought that having these 6 teams would make it easier to judge this. Master 1397 Granvile, Ohio | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement Hi Chris, Right now, there are two biking teams. One for time. One for distance. You put your goal in distance. Tammy put hers in time. So right now, I have you separated. That said, if you definitely want to be on the same team.... maybe one of you can change your goal so that you're both doing time... or you're both doing distance. If you do that, then I can make a note to keep you on the same team. I've done separate teams because I think it's going to be a fairly large challenge, and we'll be needing 6 teams. (If not more.) Does this make sense? Dee Oooohh, bummer we can't be on the same team. s'okay though. It motivates me just knowing that I have to keep up with Chris. and that is NO EASY task! Looks like another month of smack talkin' |

Veteran 182 Hillsboro, OR | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement This is my first time signing up for a challenge, but here goes: 1) State your goal: bike or swim or run. (You may pick ONE.) Bike 2) State your goal by time or distance. Time: in hours. 15 hours Doesn't seem like a lot, but I figure that most of it will be indoor spinning since it rains in Oregon from November until March and I can only handle a spin bike for just so long before my butt starts to hurt. |

Elite 3471 Evergreen, CO | Subject: RE: January Challenge Announcement Ok, December swim was my 1st challenge ever and it made me get to the pool almost no matter what. So, please put me in for 20 hours of running in January. That may be mostly running in snowshoes if we keep getting a foot of snow twice a week, so I'll go with time rather than distance since I'm twice as slow in snowshoes! And either way I'll get a good workout |
