I am looking forward to a nice restful weekend at home...hoping to ride, but if the weather does not permit...I will make the dh go for a hike up in the redwoods. Have a great weekend everyone. I've got a run planned for tomorrow AM and a ride on Sunday. It's gonna be cold on Sunday but finally a day with little wind! |

New user ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's funny, I read the forum EVERY DAY, but seem to never post anything unless I've worked out, which hasn't been very much lately. I'll try to be better about that. This weekend... hmmm... tonight we took the boys to dinner then we stopped by Toys R Us to buy them a toy. They've been stuck in the house all week so I felt bad. I might try to get a run in tomorrow. Tomorrow night I have to work... have I told you all what I do? I am an independent distributor for Slumber Parties. I do "women only" adult parties where I help to empower women from the bedroom to the bank. Basically I'm the "sex toy lady". LOL. I love my job because I make KILLER money doing it and I only do 3-4 parties a month. And with Valentine's Day coming up, I'm booked like crazy!!! Anyways, Sunday is RELAXATION day. I think I've convinced my husband to join the new gym with me... the one that has the pool. He went to the doctors today and got a cortisone injection in his knee. Poor fella. So that's about it from here. I'm hoping my boys are well enough next week so that I can get back on schedule. ~Jennifer |

So I will be sleeping most of the weekend away. Thanks for the inspires. I am going to start tracking my crazy mood swings and see if they coincide with my cycle. Also, the tummy thing, I have colitis. I know I need to be more proactive with controlling it. |

Heart murmer type stuff and newly diagnosed with a fat liver (even though he is not obese and he is not a big drinker)........ so we are in the interim waiting to see the doc after bloodwork and tests. However he has been in the pool doing laps lately (well one or two before he's laying on the deck) but we all start out struggling. I'm just glad he is moving ya know ? Thanks for asking ! |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Happy Saturday Team! I hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy a little sunshine! In Calgary, with our -21C temps, I am looking at the sun shining through the windows. The hubby put on my aerobars last night so I had a chance to test them out this morning. We have a bit more tweaking now to do with the seat but we're getting there. Always hard to judge as it seems like I am always getting on the trainer with fatigued legs from a track running session. We are headed to the pool later so I am looking forward to that as I missed my tri pool session on Tuesday since I was feeling and looking rather green. In chatting with the family last night, Mom is a bit down having just been officially diagnosed with osteoporosis. We knew that her bone density was low (as is my grandmother's) and were always encouraging her to do more strength training and weight bearing exercises as she usually sticks to the stretch classes at the gym. Now she has the motivation to really get going. It is also the reminder for my sister and me to continue to monitor our calcium levels and to stay active. Mom is relatively healthy other than this recent diagnosis so we are hopeful that she will take the necessary steps to insure that it will not be a huge impact on her life. No doubt that Dad will monitor her progress at the gym and report back to my sister and me. Right now, this is not a major downer but just as your kids see you as parents, I always picture mom with a big red cape and an 'S' on her chest. |

OMG....waaaaay too funny! Been there done that too many times! The last couple though I have braved the ice bath post race so as to speed recovery and reduce muscle soreness. Highly recommended- just put on a toque, keep a fleece on top and sip some warm tea/coffee while reading a magazine. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() my log is pretty sad and pathetic this week, don't go look. ![]() i've only had that one long run. i was going to run short yesterday, but ran out of time. then i was going to run this morning, but realized as i was getting ready to go out, that i hadn't eaten, and if i had taken the time to eat, i wouldn't have had time to run. so i bailed again. TOMORROW i really really have to get out there. nicole, i got those pedals yesterday THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! i have no idea how to put them on, but i'm sure i'll figure it out, otherwise i'll take it to the LBS. i'm so excited to try them! i'm pretty sure there will be bloodshed involved, as i've never used clips before, but that's part of it right? once i bleed, i'm a REAL cyclist. ![]() ok. now my two year old is asleep on my lap, and i have much baking to do today, so i have to go lay him down. have a fun weekend everyone ![]() |

LMFAO!!!! ok, clearly not a chick issue (at least not one i've encountered) but i've heard horror stories. not sure if many of you make it over to my blog...but this is one of the links my sister sent to me after her marathon last weekend... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-hCuYjvw2I too funny! and to think this is how I look after my mere few miles! it actually can be...I was working the finish line for a marathon and was shocked when I saw the first woman with blood on both her b**bs...as she ran toward me, I was supposed to drape her with a medal...but I began to back away...she had no idea why I was acting this way until she looked down and then was completely embarassed....she was very flat chested and my guess is that she had little or no support or bra on! so wear a bra! and a thick one!!! There were tons of men with bloody nipples. I truly had never seen such a thing and it was a definite eye opener! here is a random story about this race: Because I worked in an area of the finish line, I was given a special baseball cap with the race logo and race name...after the race I noticed a very very elderly gentleman who was really gimping about. As I passed him and his wife, he asked me where I got my hat...I told him it was for volunteers only and you could see his immediate disappointment. I then asked if he just ran the race and he said yes...with his cute wife all proud of him standing next to him. I immediately took off the hat and told him he was much more deserving then I - and handed him the cap....I have never ever seen someone smile as big as he...and I looked at his wife who was now crying! and almost made me cry...He asked me my name and I just told him my first name and as I was leaving he kept trying to give me his nasty old sweaty hat he ran in and his brand spanking new shirt he got in his packet...I kept refusing and told him to enjoy the hat....do you know that three days later I received the most gorgeous bunch of flowers I have yet to receive from this incredibly thoughtful man! he had called the race director and he said in his note that came with the flowers that it took almost an hour of pleading with the director - before he finally gave in and gave this gentelman my address....good thing he wasnt a stalker, eh! the moral of this story is....be kind...things will come back to you! I firmly believe in Karma! and even more so after this! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well hi everyone! I've finally returned from snow land (aka, Taos, NM). And even though I'm not home yet, at least I finally have a few extra moments to spend some time on BT. My dh is sitting over there fuming, though -- we only brought one computer with us and it's my turn to use it! I haven't been doing any tri training this week, but my tri training certainly helped my skiing! I skiied six days in a row, and never had any severe muscle aches or endurance issues. I think all of that running and bicycling helped me prepare (beyond what I even thought!). I'm thrilled!!! I've read about all of the hard times everyone is having, and my heart is with you all. Life just continues to throw us curves, doesn't it? But character is revealed by how we deal with the curves, and you all are incredible with how you are dealing with yours. I want to go check up on everyone's logs -- see ya! |

After a few silly falls...you remember...CLIP OUT...CLIP OUT. As I come up to stop signs and lights I now will unclip my left foot ( Im a lefty...my dd and dh click out on the right-so it is a preference thingy) ...I try to balance at the lights without putting my foot down....but in case I start to tilt...my foot is loose and I will not make a fool of myself in front of the cars at the intersection....just make sure that you adjust the pedals so that they are not too tight for your shoes...it should be fairly easy to click them in and out...but not too easy cuz then you will come out during rotation. Does that make sense....it takes an allen wrench to adjust and is really easy. But if you do not feel comfortable take it to a bike shop and have them do it. or bring it here and I will adjust it! now thats what you should do!!!! |
