I've got to get an MRI of the right knee today. Likely a torn meniscus. The doc examined it Monday and knew just how to move it to set it off. Yet another joy this week :-( Yikes. That's what I am fearing for myself - which reminds me that I need to call the doc today to get a referral to the PT. But I may ask the PT to check out the knee as well and maybe she'll ship me back to a sports med doc to get an MRI. Does yours hurt all the time? Only when you run? If you bend it? Etc? Only w/ certain motions and after a run. Getting in / out of bed is brutal., Bringing my heel to my butt hurts. The doc somehow crossed my foot over my lateral line and DAMN! That convinced him it's either a torn meniscus or, far less likely, a Baker's cyst. The MRI rules in / out either. I'll likely get scoped either way. I had one in 1987. Not a huge deal. A week on crutches. I just finished 2 1/2 months on them, so I've gottten skilled at it. A week on crutches after a torn meniscus? Wow, I thought recovery was way longer than that. Just curious as to what your symptoms were - my knee was diagnosed as "tendonitis", but considering where it hurts (like where the medial meniscus is, inside the knee), I'm not so sure. Mine doesn't seem to be as bad as yours, or Jen's (Artemis), but I'm prepping myself for the worst, so just trying to compare notes. Seems like it's differed with everyone I've talked to re: meniscus issues. My ex did something to his back when we were dating, but never had surgery for it and still manages to run just fine - he's a crazy-good cyclist though, so that probably helped "cure" it by keeping all the stabilizing muscles nice and strong. |
