I have nothing constructive to say, really ... I'm just going to physio and bemoaning the fact that I can't train ...

But I check here almost every day - where DID everybody go?!?!?

I don't have anything, either. I have to stay home all day today. Too much is going on here for me to leave. At least I'm catching up on the laundry & ironing.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately.   Been trying to keep my log up but that's about all I have had time for.   Hopefully, if we don't get rained out on the big branding tomorrow, the cattle work will be settled for a bit.

I am getting a little nervous about my race, but I am trying to remain calm.

Gotta get...the guys are all waiting for me.   Time for a 6 hour ride!

While I'm stuck at home doing laundry & ironing, all kinds of thoughts are going through my head.

After talking to Yanti yesterday, I'm seriously playing with the idea of doing the Bali tri in 2010. Of course, lots of things have to be determined before I make a decision, and I'll have to sell my dh on the idea, of course. But maybe it could be like a second honeymoon. The race is just an oly, so it would only last about a half day. For me, anyway.

Another idea floating through my head that is easily doable is running the San Antonio Marathon on Nov. 15. I can go by myself, bc it's about a 10-12 hr drive from here. My sister lives in Albequerque and maybe she would even meet me there. It's also deer hunting season here, so dh will be busy doing that. Although he's gonna be bummed not to run it himself. He would have to choose that over hunting and it'll never happen. I'd have to start training next month.

So any Manatee thoughts? Anybody else interested in either of these experiences?

oooohhhh ... I wish I could commit to travel-races with you! I would love to see San Antonio ... wait - that's in Texas, right? Nah maybe not. ;-)

But another race - maybe! I am still hoping I can run the half-mary here in October ... it's all kind of dependant on how I heal.

Oh, TR, San Antonio is a beautiful city to visit and it's the perfect time of year for it. Think about it. You could just do the half.

Ok - here's the deal ... I have an airline credit to use prior to Feb 2010 - and this particular airline does not fly anywhere near Texas. So ... I think the marathon's out, for me - at least for this year!

But you've inspired me to research where I can go (mostly sunny holiday destinations) and if they have races I can destinate to. ;-)

Hi Manatees,

Been busy for almost a week because of my trip to NY for my nephew's wedding. I had a lot of good intentions for getting a run or two in when I was there but it didn't happen. Monday was a blurr, yesterday was my wife's birthday. Excuses, excuses....I know.

I'll either be swimming or on the trainer in the basement and check in later.

Sharie,
Thanks for the info about POSE/Chi running. I'm going to have to check it out!

Everyone injured.....good wishes to all of you. Injuries are *the worst*.

Yanti, I hope your move is going well! I've been thinking of you. I've been meaning to ask...is this a permanent move or just for a year or two?

Stacie, I am looking for your race report. I still have troule navigating this site!

A quick update, I've been here, I've been lurking but I've had to make a tough decision about my knee (whether to wait and do my Aug tri or get the surgey NOW and start getting well). It has left me not wanting to post and talk much, because I'm sulking, lol. I still have no decision BTW.

The good news is that I have been working on my swim like a crazed woman and I swam my first straight 800 yesterday and then again today. It was the swim breakthrough I have literally been waiting for since March.

Art, How is you Dad doing? And vacations always leave me out of motivation to work out. On my cruise I *swore* I'd hit the gym everyday...hahahha.

Cathy and TR....I think destination races are the best. SA is a pretty city, the Riverwalk is beautiful.  I flew to DC last yr to run the Army 10 miler and meet up w/ friends from around the country. It was so much fun. And training at altitude and racing at sea level....I felt like I had wings!

TR.....does this airline credit fly to Colorado? We have some amazing races/triathlons here and the scenery can't be beat. I would love to race in Arizona, Hawaii or San Francisco.

This airline is a Canadian airline - goes to just about every city in Canada, then only the "sun" destinations (Cancun, Barbados, Pheonix, Florida, Dominican, Hawaii, etc etc) ... and it's list does change based on the tourist season.

I was looking at it today, and honestly there is NO WHERE on the list of destinations that I want to go for a vacation. NO WHERE.

At this point I'm thinking either Vegas or Pheonix for a half-marathon ... or an all-inclusive somewhere for a few days of shut-down sunny eat/drink/be sillllly holiday. ;-)

I have until Feb to book (not travel, just book) so I've got some time to think on it. I can't afford a hotel anywhere right now anyway.

Hi all -- As far as travel, San Diego area has a lot of tris and runs and it's a great place to visit. :-) Maybe we could even meet up. Also, I recommend the Iron Girl events in Phoenix and Las Vegas. Phoenix is this year and Vegas is next spring. I believe they're both tris. Hope you are healing up.

Sorry to hear about all the injuries. Sending some good healing energy your way.

Wanted to check in before I take of for a week's vacation. Of course, it really won't be a vacation from training. We're staying on a lake, so lots of OWS and I'll be running every other day. Probably won't get to ride any. I have a Int'l distance tri four days after we get back, so I can't slack. I'll be visiting family...a mixed bag, but it will be good. 5 1/2 days after eliminating the travel days/hours.

I may be able to use my DH computer to check in, but not sure. Happy training and racing everyone!

Lynn

Hey everyone, I am still around not tri training but bike training.  I go on my Conquer Cancer Ride this weekend.  I want to thank those that were sending PM's and inspires even though I was not posting they do mean a lot.  I am sorry to hear of injuries and all the other things going on for people I just spent quite a while reading to try and catch up. 2010 is my year of Tri's I will have almost the entire year off with Parental leave and 20 weeks of school so I am planning on swimming lessons and back at the running and continue the riding.  I did my first Century ride (It was a metric but still a century)  well I did 2 back to back weekends now I have to do 130Km 2 days in a row.

Anyways just posting letting you all know I am around and do think about this group a lot and have to say kinda of ashamed with my training and that is why I haven't been posting.

Come in after a month or so and found out Yanti moved across the globe!!  Wishing you all the best because you deserve it YANTI

You're going through so much tough stuff right now! But you are a tough lady and are persevering. Physio IS training. There are all sorts of things ... life happens and sometimes the road means we aren't able to train. But that makes us no less athletes ... every life lesson is important. And YOU strong lady taught me that

Guess what, Manatees. I ran today! I took it real easy, alternating 5 minutes of walking with 5 minutes of running. I did 3 run intervals. My dh was running, too, and I thought about doing a fourth interval while I was waiting for him to finish, but I decided it was better to to do too little than too much at this point. By back is a little stiff, but I'm not in pain. I'll try it again on Sat if I'm not too sore.

I hope everyone is doing well. It is so hot here today. It was already 80 degrees when we went out to run at 5:30 a.m.

Yay Running! I'm so happy for you. I MISS running, I'm jealous and will live vicariously through your healing now ... tell me allllll about it. ;-)

My physio MIGHT (might might might I'm hoping hoping hoping) tell me I can run starting next week ... but I doubt it - she'll probably want me to take another week off ... although I'm healing, if the pain has anything to do with it I'm healing a lot!

She's cleared me to stationary bike (not outside, though) as long as it doesn't hurt, but I don't get anything out of that ... I don't find the bikes comfortable, and it's just ... weird. So I've just been doing lots of yoga.

This is not helping my weight-loss goal, I'll tell ya. The 10 pounds I've lost are coming right back on.
