What's everyone got on tap for this weekend? Is this the final big weekend or are others like me who feel the need to carry on the pain for one more week?

Train hard and stay injury free, we are almost there Cool

Water was 76 degrees this morning. It's officially going to be a non wetsuit race now. At this rate though, there's a chance that a wetsuit won't be an option. They'll need a cold/cool front I think.

Calf still won't let me run, road rash and bruises still hurt from last week's crash, forecast calls for more cold, wind, and rain which will make for another awesome long ride tomorrow (i'll be walking the tracks).....and worst of all it looks like the wife will be deploying in the near future, like real near future.

My diet has been crap this week, awesome.

Love Taco Bell, when I don't have a kitchen I eat bean burritios for dinner on the nights leading up to the race.  Perfer that to pasta.

Well thank goodness taper begins. I rode the course yesterday. It was windddy! Had a good ride though, today I swam the course. Thanks TJ for putting that on BTW. The water temp was great and I wore a sleeveless. Swimming the long course twice was a big confidence booster. Had a 3 HR run scheduled and it turned into just one loop of the course. Had a really crappy run. It was hot, I felt like crap and my HR was sky high. Thank goodness taper is beginning I hope it's just because I'm tired but honestly that pretty typical for me in the heat. Race day is going to be interesting......

My wife will be deploying fairly soon as well, not fun stuff. I have 4 boys 5 and under with 14 month old twins, so it's going to be rough on them. When I hit "the line" in my races and am in the hurt locker it's what I think about. Makes the race seem meaningful and meaningless at the same time if that makes any sense.Heading out in the morning for a 100 miler with 4 k of climbing out near Bandera, TX. That should suck with the winds.

Yes. A new shop just opened in Montgomery and I am going to stop by to see if they want to try and help.

About to do 22 miles on the course. Last big run before taper city. So ready for some rest. Swam in Lake Woodlands yesterday. It's warm folks. No chance it will be a wetsuit race. I swam in my try torque skin suit. Felt fine.

Glad my taper doesn't begin until next week, I've been treading water while healing and could use one last good week of training. Weather sucks here so I'm going for yet another century trainer ride. Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Rode 101 miles with my two IMTX training buddies, yesterday (Sat. 4.18.12).

Brutal. Wind was rough. And they didn't want to "cheat" by drafting. *Grumble*

So we kept a 14 mph average. Pathetic. Of course, we usually only keep a 15-15.3 mph average. But STILL. At least I talked them out of doing 112 miles and got them to focus on TIME.

I am SO HAPPY IT IS OVER!!!! Well, 100 mile rides that is. I have ridden 100+ miles each Saturday for the last 5 weeks. WOW. Can't believe I did it!

I know my issues are very small in comparison to others in this thread. I know I'm lucky to have the strength, ability and time to get my training in.

So today was a horrible day.... I had to send an email with my withdrawl from the race. After being hit by a vehicle two weeks ago on a taining ride, I thought I might be able to recover from road rash and bruised hip and sore knee but with my 5th visti to the doctor I am not going to be able to compete. I feel like I have lost a year of my life an dedication to soemthing that has just got taken away from me. I am happy that i have done as much as I have done but am upset that I am not going to reach my goal in three weeks. I will be signing up for the next avaliable ironaman hopefully as soon as I can get past these injuries. I wish all you guys the best and I will be there in spirit cheering you guys on......

UGH. REALLY SUCKS!!!!!

Dang it. Sorry to hear it man. When we were riding, my client kept saying "he was the boy in the bubble", just trying not to get any injuries till race day. That's the hardest part of training for an Ironman... you sign up a year ahead of time and hope you can make it to the start line injury free. Of course, most don't hit by a car!!!!

Find another IM. While it's not an IM branded race... Redman puts on a nice IM distance in Oklahoma. Might want to check it out.
