This has been an intense training week for me. Aside from the everyday soreness, I'm feeling good physically. Dealing a lot with fatigue, but that's likely attributed to so many early mornings and later evenings than I'm used to.

Did a long swim last night and felt like I was lumbering in the water...stroke felt off during most of the set, but my times were consistent and decent for this early in the season. Go figure.

Had the earliest wake-up so far this year with a run at 4:30 this morning. Felt good, even while keeping an easy pace.

Tonight's workout will be an easy session in the pool, mainly focusing on the pull, and giving the legs a bit of a break before tomorrow's 40-miler on the bike.

I know that feeling very well. And the opposite - when you're smooth and pushing hard and you're really not going any faster.

Swimming is weird. Glad to see its going well for you in the early season

I think you will finish closer to 4:22 than 4:30 ....with a nice negative split...seriously!

Thanks! I'm keeping that possibility open. I'm too afraid of going out too fast to start out at 4:22 pace, but I know that if I have it in me, I'll starting thinking about picking it up when I can. I know what 13.1 feels like, so around then, I'll start to think about my options.

I'm hoping that, as a friend said, it becomes a 10K race with a 20 mile warm-up.

Best of luck this weekend Elaine!

Thanks! And thanks for dealing with my taper crazies.

I'm gonna carry a little list of who each mile is for. I'm sure I'll forget for a bunch of them, but I'm keeping it as a secret weapon.

Mile 12 is for this mentor group

I rented wheels for IMAZ. 1080 front and Disc rear. I think that is a great way to go, The latest greatest wheels for a nominal fee. Especially lf you only ride the wheels on race day. Having said that I believe I will try to get in on the Flo wheels if the price and wheel is as advertised. Those guys may have hit a gold mine.

Posting on my iPhone from the somerset mall in Troy MI, so formatting will be screwy. Had a hell of a stressful work week defending horrible witness at an important depo. Currently sitting in the food court where I had dinner. Work travel is so exciting! Screwed up the training week but at least I got 3 decent runs in. No swims, no bikes. Have to be up tomorrow at 6, which is 3 am my time, to travel home. So the weekend is really shot too. MAybe a run sunday. Good luck Elaine!! And I ride HED trispokes. Make a difference? Mostly psychological I guess. .

Personally I never listen to music whilst S/B/R as I find it distracts me.

Wow- that is really a long shift- sorry ..... IMHO training on a tired body is not good. Your fitness will not be compromised taking three days off. Come back fresh and you'll be able to hit the road harder and stronger..... Sponge Bob - I remember those days

I don't listen to music while running.  Use to but the headphones and cords and crap just drove me crazy so one day I went for a run without all that crap and decided I actually liked it better without, even the long 20 mile runs.  Never did I think I'd hit that day.  I do periodically bike with music.  I listen to pretty much everything, from pop, rock, country, etc.  So you never really know what song will pop up on the playlist next.  I use to swim with music but again, the silly cord thing.  I am toying with getting the FINIS SwimMP3 player.  The reviews are so mixed on it though.  Sometimes I want music in the pool and sometimes I am fine without so I am torn on that one still.

Sounds rough.  Reminds me of implementation days.  Although those are rare for me and I imagine your shifts are more regular.  Hang in there

The only time I listen to music is when running inside on the treadmill. Mostly listen to old school rock like Motley Crüe, AC/DC with some Offspring, Lincoln Park, etc thrown in. My wife usually loads my I-pod so she thinks it's funny to throw pop stuff in there once in awhile. Although it kind of sticks sometimes. I have become a bit of a Pink fan against my will.

Thinking of a new bike this weekend. I am having bike remorse after fitting my roadie to my daughter to use for the season. My awesome wife gave me permission for a new bike and I've been thinking a mountain bike for awhile. Would probably go with a 29'er if I did a regular mountain bike. BUT I've been looking at fat tire bikes (Pugsley and Mukluk) and these look like a lot of fun. I want a bike I can take out and beat on and have fun but am not looking into racing. This is strictly fun and recreation and something to get me off the trainer in the winter. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I am in St. George doing a short training camp with my coach's team. Ran the new run course yesterday and heading out for 60 miles on the bike course in an hour. New run course is FAST, old course looks like it was no joke, brutal and I only drove it.
