I hope it's cause you're out training. Weather couldn't be more perfect in the ATL! What's the forecast in MN next week, Sal??? 78 and Clear blue skies today in Cowboy town. Got a 3 miler in this morning. Getting the gear checked out for Saturday. No workout tomorrow -- it's my TAPER! Now friends, before I go much further -- I wanna say THANKS for all your support and encouragement the past few months, I really really appreciate it! It means tons! Now, that's said -- -- I'm So, Mentor's and fellow Mentee's -- What's a guy to do to get past this anxiety?? It's really got me worked up! I'm open for any suggestions, verbal abusements, ideas, slap happy jokes, whatever! I need 'em! -- I guess what I'm trying to say is -- THANKS for all of the encouragement. I've trained pretty good, and I'm physically prepared for the race. I'm just really struggling with some headgames and got to find a way to get past them!!! I think it's the undue stress from competition. You don't have an uncompetitive bone in your body. You're askeered that this is where the rubber meets the road, and when you post times, it'll give you a benchmark of where you stand against your competition this year...hmmm...who would Relax. HAVE FUN!!! That's what it's all about! I hope this little competition at the least, gave you more motivation to train. You'll do just fine, and you might just surprise us, just like you did at Lifetime a few years ago... Good luck tomorrow! |

I couldn't get a taker on our mentor group challenge... think lots of folks are involved in the bike challenge and didn't want to over-challenge themselves. I'm fairly certain that was code for "we are askeered of you" . I'll keep working on it... maybe for next month. |

They sold 140 more slots than they advertised. Well, at least I won't be DEAD last! Yes, SAL, This is a benchmark race... I'm gonna do fine, but don't expect a LTF from me on this race --- I'm gonna go have FUN! My guess -- 1:19 and change... Hope I'm off by about 5 minutes too slow --- That'd be sweet -- beat my last race at this distance. So we'll see. The whole race for me tomorrow comes down to the run I think. The other 2 disciplines, I'm right in the thick of where I was. So we'll see Watch for the race report tomorrow! Now it's off to din din with the BT gang

Thanks, it feels really great to meet a goal, especially in running which is my favorite. I am doing a race series sponsored by a local running store, 9 races in all from now until Oct. I am excited to see how I improve over the next 5 months. I also signed up for a FREE tri training program at a local YMCA. I will have a swim coach who teaches Total Immersion, a running coach who is going to watch us and give us tips and drills (which I really need), and a cycle coach (who said something about group rides and drafting - it askeered me!). This program is 10 weeks long and I am excited. I need some tweaking, I know how to build base, but not increase speed and efficiency. It starts 3/31. Maybe they can get me to the middle of the pack. LOL |

Expert 1157 Tremonton, Utah | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed RACE REPORT POSTED Wasn't as pretty as I wanted it to be, but I'm happy. 1:31 and change. Had a couple of little challenges along the way (like a 20 mph headwind -- on the HILLY part of the course), and a really sore back on the run, but had a great time. Now -- what's next....I know -- I'll go TRAIN for the bike -- sound like a plan??? And now back to our regularly scheduled banter.....

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed You got a medal for a sprint? I am jealous. Glad you had a good time. Riding in the wind is always tough. Took the g/f out riding today. Flat ride, but 24 mph winds took it out of her. We only averaged about 12 miles per hour including stopping for lights. She has to look down at her chain to figure out if she changed gears or not. She veers about 4 feet to either side when she looks down. Can't get her to look straight ahead and just feel the changes when she pushes on the shift levers. She also rides with elbows locked and gets numb hands. Can't get her to bend her elbows. And she likes to do the entire ride in the same gear. She blames the numb hands on 55 degree temps even though she has bike gloves on, ( short fingered gloves). |

Congrats on the race. Don't want to set your expectations too high early in the season, it's better to see improvement than beat yourself up. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Whoo hoo, today's workout so far has been trimming the huge bouganvilla bush that is on 2 walls in the back yard and as high as my 2 story house. Stopped when the the green organic waste only trash can was full. Yes we have those trash cans that the city provides and can be picked up by machine rather than trashmen. And you can only put certain kinds of trash in each bin. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed If you have a hill and a tow rope, snow is good. If you have to drive in it, its bad. Utah has a lot of cute blondes. We have the silicone blondes. |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Page 2? Can't have that!! Got the hill, the tow rope, not so much. But a steep driveway and childish energy will get you places, I'm tellin' ya. The snow has all but melted now, and the highs should stay in the upper 40's to mid 50's range for the next week. Now to get rid of the gamboo in my throat and get my bike from the LBS and get the fit done....

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed I have no idea what gamboo is. Not sure I want to know, sounds like something in adult movies. Ran 7.75 miles today mostly zone three. Probably a mistake. The IT band near the hip on both sides didn't seem to like that speed for a training run. Think I need to build more base and strenghten the hip flexors and glutes more. Wondering if Minnesota has made Mila's small evil heart, even colder? |

Veteran 291 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Only got in 25 min. on the stationary bike, but something is better than nothing. Tomorrow is a rest day, then I'm running hubby through a test tri on Friday to practice transitions and get the flow of the race we are doing on the 29th. Final exam tomorrow, the class is finally over, in two weeks I take the state test to be listed as a Nurse Aide. It has been a long 8 weeks and I am looking forward to getting back to my regular schedule for a while. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Congrats on finishing your course. Transitions are a great place to pick up time in a race. Many don't practice, and don't realize how much time they lose in transition. They forget the clock is still ticking, but will bust their butts running biking and swimming. |

I'm pretty sure now that the back pain was because of worn out shoes. Not 100% sure it's over, but all the signs look good! Now if my mouth will wake up from all the Lidocaine the dentist put in it this morning, I'll be good.... |

Stick ons for your sunglasses Plastic stick ons like the oil change companies put on your windshield. http://www.stickonbifocals.com/ From what I understand they only help for reading things like your bike computer, or swim clock. Not good if you need help with long distance vision. I may try them. __________________ VRAA Team I |
