jonmetz - 2009-06-13 8:18 PM Where were the shirts ordered from last year? I have some free-time, so I don't mind helping getting the shirts.

Katimomma took care of the order last year.  If you are willing to take charge of the T-shirt order, PM her - I'm sure she still has all the info.

New color!  :-)  Bright green, blue?  Wonder how much more tech T would be?

She is not doing it this year? I don't want to step on her toes if she wants to do it again?

Mike,

Sorry to hear about the injury.  I trained hard for the inaugural IMKY in 2007, only to crash on the bike and take myself out of training for 6 months.  I went to watch some friends and even got to check in as an athlete and get the arm band.  Still have the t-shirt, although I've never worn it.  Watching was definately difficult, and is what gave me the drive to start over for 2009.  So far, only a knee is giving me trouble, which won't keep me from toeing the line.  Trust me, you'll be plenty motivated to make the next start-line you sign up for.

Take time to fully recover.  Don't abandon the BT sight.  We'll all need your insight and advice as we approach the end of August.

Welcome! I will get you on the "interested" list for a shirt. A new thread started just for the shirts can be found here ...

There's an interesting link on the other board about where to seed yourself for the swim start. Thought I'd post the link for those who have not seen it.

Personally, unless I can somehow learn to swim before Aug 30, I'm starting in the back of the pack to keep the number of people that will have to swim over me as small as possible!

I'm all for starting at the back too (I like to sleep!), but I wonder how jammed up things get out on the bike course if you have to pass a lot of people?  Is everyone pretty well spaced out at IMLOU?

I also wonder if they run out of supplies at the aid stations if you start at the back.  For $500+, I'd hope not!

I made a hotel reservation for Friday night June 26th in Louisville.  I'll be riding the course Saturday June 27th.  Josh & David are in.  If anyone else is interested, let me know.  :-)

I wish I could come up and ride the course again.  Maybe by the end of July I'll be able to sneak up there.

I was one of the last swimmers to get in the water last year, there were 15 people behind me. T1 looks very empty when you come in! There was no shortage of supplies on the course anywhere, don't worry about that. You will pass a number of people, but that is going to happen anyway on a looping course. Have fun and don't forget to hydrate coming out of the hot water.

Whoa!  I had to scroll down to find this thread.  That's never happened to me before!

Let's see, what reason did I have for posting here?  Umm.... get out and train everyone.  IMKY has HILLS!

Oh, and I do actually have a serious question, prompted by a 4.5 hour ride from h*ll today.  For those who have been there before, what is the road quality like on the roads?  Say, on a scale of 1 (pristine asphalt just waiting for speeding bikers) to 10 (gravel might just be an improvement), how would you rank the roads?

I'd say a 3.  The out and back is rough around the bridge.  I mean lots of bottles on the ground.

The only other rough part I remember, is on the west side of the loop.  And that stretch was maybe 3 miles long.

Checked your log - nice ride!  I also had hills on the schedule tonight.  Realized I got lots of work to do.
