Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sledge - 2009-01-24 3:33 PM Well hi everyone! I've finally returned from snow land (aka, Taos, NM). And even though I'm not home yet, at least I finally have a few extra moments to spend some time on BT. My dh is sitting over there fuming, though -- we only brought one computer with us and it's my turn to use it! I haven't been doing any tri training this week, but my tri training certainly helped my skiing! I skiied six days in a row, and never had any severe muscle aches or endurance issues. I think all of that running and bicycling helped me prepare (beyond what I even thought!). I'm thrilled!!! I've read about all of the hard times everyone is having, and my heart is with you all. Life just continues to throw us curves, doesn't it? But character is revealed by how we deal with the curves, and you all are incredible with how you are dealing with yours. I want to go check up on everyone's logs -- see ya! glad you are back and in one piece....we missed you! |

I'll try to be better about that. This weekend... hmmm... tonight we took the boys to dinner then we stopped by Toys R Us to buy them a toy. They've been stuck in the house all week so I felt bad. I might try to get a run in tomorrow. Tomorrow night I have to work... have I told you all what I do? I am an independent distributor for Slumber Parties. I do "women only" adult parties where I help to empower women from the bedroom to the bank. Basically I'm the "sex toy lady". LOL. I love my job because I make KILLER money doing it and I only do 3-4 parties a month. And with Valentine's Day coming up, I'm booked like crazy!!! Anyways, Sunday is RELAXATION day. I think I've convinced my husband to join the new gym with me... the one that has the pool. He went to the doctors today and got a cortisone injection in his knee. Poor fella. So that's about it from here. I'm hoping my boys are well enough next week so that I can get back on schedule. ~Jennifer Let me just say as one of the husbands of one of the ladies that have went to one of those parties. Thank you! :-) Hope your boys are feeling better. OH MY GOD !! I love that Scott !!! LOVE IT !!!! I'm dying laughing (in a you bad bad boy kind of way) ! I was thinking after reading her post that almost all of my friends are prudes, I could not imagine any of them having near the fun i'd have at one ! In any event, I love that you are a guy who appreciates what his wife did for him. LOVE IT ! |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Girl Passing on Left - 2009-01-24 3:03 PM here is a random story about this race: Because I worked in an area of the finish line, I was given a special baseball cap with the race logo and race name...after the race I noticed a very very elderly gentleman who was really gimping about. As I passed him and his wife, he asked me where I got my hat...I told him it was for volunteers only and you could see his immediate disappointment. I then asked if he just ran the race and he said yes...with his cute wife all proud of him standing next to him. I immediately took off the hat and told him he was much more deserving then I - and handed him the cap....I have never ever seen someone smile as big as he...and I looked at his wife who was now crying! and almost made me cry...He asked me my name and I just told him my first name and as I was leaving he kept trying to give me his nasty old sweaty hat he ran in and his brand spanking new shirt he got in his packet...I kept refusing and told him to enjoy the hat....do you know that three days later I received the most gorgeous bunch of flowers I have yet to receive from this incredibly thoughtful man! he had called the race director and he said in his note that came with the flowers that it took almost an hour of pleading with the director - before he finally gave in and gave this gentelman my address....good thing he wasnt a stalker, eh! the moral of this story is....be kind...things will come back to you! I firmly believe in Karma! and even more so after this! I totally believe in Karma! Not to mention that it just feels good to do something that will make someone smile. What an incredible story! You totally made their day, in fact, if they are like most elderly folks I have come across, this story will get a lot mileage! |

I know people who have thought they were loosening when in fact they were tightening- falling over at the first stop sign is not recommended as the time to realize you turned the allen key in the wrong direction. And practice. Bring the bike in and get your dh help while you practice clipping in and clipping out. While everyone falls as part of the initiation, hopefully the practice will limit the chances for you. Have fun- and no blood. please. |

I got used to mine using them on the bike on the trainer: pedaling, clipping out, repeat. My few falls were when I was going to clip out (left) but lost my balance to the right. |

Great clip! I can remember trying to go down the stairs after my first (and only so far) marathon. Ouch! It still hurts. No problems with bleeding - I use bandaids on anything over 10 miles and stay away from shirts with logos across the nipple area. |

There were tons of men with bloody nipples. I truly had never seen such a thing and it was a definite eye opener! here is a random story about this race: Because I worked in an area of the finish line, I was given a special baseball cap with the race logo and race name...after the race I noticed a very very elderly gentleman who was really gimping about. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning everyone! I'm going to go sneak in a run shortly. I was hoping to get outside, but my dh just explained to me that we aren't staying in a very nice part of town (near the airport). So I'll just go for a run on the treadmill. We're going flying today! We have a friend who owns a light sport airplane, and he's taking us up!!! It's a beautiful day, and it should be lots of fun. |

I'm wondering:if 25F is chilly...what do you call -2F? I call it a great excuse to stay inside and take care of my legs ;) I'd call that "No Fracking way!" I know people ride that cold but I have no idea how they do it. Well, it was a touch under 24F when I headed out and a bit under 28F when I was done. I was dressed well (5 layers on my body including windproof top layer, 2 layers on my head and face covered, 2 pairs of socks and winter riding boots, cold weather riding gloves with "wombat" over gloves) so the cold wasn't a problem once I got into it. However, it wasn't a very good ride. I was feeling slow and the effort was feeling hard. 15 miles in I needed to burp but it turned into a small barf (sorry, TMI) and I hadn't even gotten to the HARD part of the ride. I took a rest, rinsed out my mouth, and changed routes to get home the easiest way possible. Still, a bad day of riding still beats a lot of other things I can think of ;) I hope everyone is having a better go of it than me! |
