(and awkward). it's someone you have to deal with, offer to let them pay for the repairs to keep it off their insurance, or file a claim. BUT you can't take the money and not get it fixed...they will see that. |

Take the money, get it fixed. I agree. If you don't take the money, they'll always feel they owe you something, which would make things awkward. If you take the money and don't get it fixed, they'll obviously know. Either way, nothing should be coming out of your insurance, as it was 100% their fault, so I don't think there should be talk about deductible here. If anything, it would be their deductible. |

Extreme Veteran 751 | Subject: RE: TAN 113 TANtamount to Anarchy Hi TAN! Fun ride this AM...the Mt Vernon Trail alone the Potomac. All was great except when passing this couple walking, he decided to let fly with a big ol lugi. I stop...wipe my face...and say dude, that is really rude. His lady lets fly with "well not any more rude than you not ringing a bell when you passed us!" WTF? Multi use trail. Has painted centerline. I was passing on other side of line. I rarely ride these trails, but do you really holler "on your left" when passing every walker? What think ye TAN? Guess I shouldn't expect politeness/class re spitting when he doesn't mind hockin a big one if front of her (that would be a no no on a date walk in my world...maybe I am old fashioned). Anyway...nice ride. I could live in this town!! |

Anyway...nice ride. I could live in this town!! I say "Passing on your Left" well before every walker to give them enough time to move over to the left, look back, and move back right before I pass them. "On your left" inevitably confuses them. This only works if they have their iPods at a low level, usually they don't hear it at all. |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: TAN 113 TANtamount to Anarchy Yeah, unfortunately mixed-use trail - gotta alert everyone. On the L.A. beaches, people would walk on the BIKE PATH ... the one clearly marked every few metres with BIKES ONLY and big red crosses through pedestrians ... And yes, I'd yell Howdy, Comin' Thru, whatever at each one. (anything involving "left" only makes them move into my path) The only time I'm really hideous is if there are free-range small children on the path (frequently parents would let their kids PLAY on the path--parents are ages away) ... from far back, I start screaming unspeakable obscenities at the top of my lungs. I do not give a crap what the parents' reaction is, as long as they REACT ... see me barrelling toward their kid (I am slowing down) and hopefully get them the helloutta the way. |

For what it is worth...I am a "hi" "good morning" "Thanks" kind of a runner/rider. Sometimes for fun I count the number of people who totally ignore you. Just got to this couple a bit quick.
