It would be a real problem even in the third world. But there, they could go outside and burn wood to cook food. in NoVA, you cant. I give you a pass on this one.

I just replaced the control panel on our GE Oven.  It was a challenge.  Try to get the Technical Service Manual.  Taking the trim parts off is not obvious.  It is easy to break parts if you push on them the wrong way to get them apart.

I got pretty good service at http://www.appliancepartspros.com. They have exploded diagrams for locating part numbers.

T-Geeeeeeze! There you are! I've been thinking about you loads and loads the last few weeks, lots during IMWA itself and also since. Love, thoughts, and prayers to you and the G6. Are we still the G6?

Vacation VeggieBoy! Boing boing {MELON PRESS} also, I replied to you in my IMWA race report. Funny. What you said, not what I said. Maybe that's funny too.

Have a wonderful vacant time ... no plans, I hope? Lots of lounging? Drowning in food?

{MELON SQUEEZE}

Yaaaantiiiii,

I've been watching for you. I was cheering for you on the IM.

We are still G6.  The crowd is gathering for Christmas.  We have Geezerettes 1 and 3, the Grandgeezerette, and Geezersoninlaw #1 in a fairly small apt right now.  The remaining Geezerette and her husband arrive tonight.  Then we take the show on the road.  This morning I made Teddy Bear pancakes for GG #1.  It was like old times.

Geezermom is doing better.  She has found a new plateau, a little lower than before but stable.

JWKMH's mom has CRS syndrome (Can't remember s***, that's the medical term for it ) and it is a major case at this point, but her health is good. We are working on various strategies to get some help in her house.  It is sort of like curling, you have to get the stone where you want it by sweeping in front of it without actually touching it.

In other news, I am fully retired and very happy with the new freedom.  I am working on the bicycle wheel truing algorithm.  I am working on the rim displacement and spoke tension model.  I am learning some structural analysis. I think I have the right line for the derivation but it is a bit slow because I don't know the field very well.  I think I know the answer  and it is simple but don't have a good derivation from the first principles.  Life is pretty good.

Laughing, a bit wistfully.

All in all, excellent news. I was thinking about your wheel truing algorithm ... I had a lot of time to think lately!

Good to see you made it home safe, Yanti!

Morning TAN, hope everyone is having a good post-apocalyptic Saturday/Sunday

Just a bit of a drive-by... off to the pool and then a run through the frozen wasteland that Cleveland has become, brrrrrrr!

Four hours shopping with my two daughters and fifty thousand other crazed people. The sleigh is full and I am exhausted. I thought Ironman was difficult.

All in all, excellent news. I was thinking about your wheel truing algorithm ... I had a lot of time to think lately!

Here is some material to think on.  I'm solving the stress-strain problem in polar coordinates with concentrated loads.  The problem is separable and I think the Michell solution applies.  Here are some links.

http://mightylib.mit.edu/Course%20Materials/22.314/Notes/elastic_theory.pdf

http://www-personal.umich.edu/~jbarber/UNESCO.pdf

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michell_solution

I want to find an example problem that solves for stress on a hoop with a concentrated load.  I have not found one. I will get it eventually by teaching myself but it is slow.

Understatement of the millenia

As I said, Ian Hunter never wrote a song called "Tucson Rocks!"

Cleveland is still more necessary than Tucson.

But it's close...
