In general, the whole gift giving thing is stressful.

I keep getting asked what I want for my B-day and Christmas, which is stressful because I have to come up with something I actually WANT they won't judge me on.  Can't ask mom for toys for the "dungeon".  PLUS I need to know what their budget is.  Can't asks mums and dads for a computrainer.

Giving is just about as hard as well.  I always feel elated when I actually find "the perfect gift" for someone since it's rare.  It seems mostly guesswork most of the time.  Sure they will appreciate it, but do they really LOVE it?

The last real "win" with the parents was a keurig machine.  The use it all the time and it's been several years since I got it.

Recently, I just bought some games and a coat from Target and my wife gave me her Target card to get points.  I got home and she said "happy birthday"....  win for me!

i am so anti-gift giving myself.  my sister and i stopped exchanging gifts years ago.  i wish i could get my husband and in-laws on board with this.  in my family the grown ups don't do gifts.  i love food and being with others at the holidays and really couldn't care less about gifts.  UGH!!  how do i make people stop.

and re:  wish list:  my 4 MONTH OLD NEPHEW HAS AN AMAZON WISH LIST.  no.  just no.

Obviously the "wish list" is for the parents... ha! But I'd rather be given a list of what to buy vs. having to pick something out. I don't mind picking something out,but I want people to get what they WANT and to USE what I buy for them. Otherwise it is like throwing money away.

A 4mo old should not have a wish list on Amazon already - that just sounds wrong, as does whatever the circumstances for you ended up on the list.

However, for my niece & nephew who are going to be 4 & 6 this Xmas, I'd really appreciate it if my bro & SIL would do something like this so that I don't have to keep badgering my brother.  I can count the number of times that he's responded to an email from me over the last, oh I don't know... 5 years? 6? On ONE hand.  He's not the best at family communication.

Standard:

Dolls
Action figures

If you want to be the "cool aunt" and P.O. the Bro and SIL all at the same time:

Jewelry maker (lots of small pieces)
Something that makes noise (drum kit, guitar)
Something that requires LOTS of batteries and/or assembly
Something that shoots and/or flies
Makeup

Random annoyance and a first world problem... so I bought new Asics Kayano's yesterday. Was told the ugly black ones were the only option. Then I go online and see all these cool colors I can buy! Now I have to drive back to the shop and return the ugly ones so I can get some pretty ones that I actually want to wear. I don't like black running shoes at all. And I don't care how they don't ever look dirty.

I have one too.  I used my phone app to buy my $5.50 skinny pumpkin spice latte that was SUPPOSED to be free for my B-day but apparently I had to notify the barista beforehand because I ended up paying for it and have to get my free drink next time.

WHY IS LIFE SO UNFAIR AND DIFFICULT!!!!!!!!

Like people already don't guilt people in lavishing them with gifts already under the pretense of labor just with the shower invite.  We probably dropped hundreds this year on baby mamas that we barely know only because they sent out an invite.

Now they want to drag the gift thing on for a 4 month old at Christmas time?

Sometimes baby  mamas can be SO aggravating!  In general, a BARELY care for my sibling's offspring, much less a friends or strangers.  I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR BABY!!!!  GOOD FOR YOU!  YOU SCREWED AND CRANKED OUT A MINI YOU - HALF THE TIME, ON ACCIDENT!
