When I ride Pecos (the majortiy of my rides are here) I usually park at the Park and Ride at 40th and Pecos. If split up groups are an option, this might be a good place to start. To the end of Pecos and back is about 15 miles. There are some hills, but only 1 that is tuff (but short). For a more intense ride you take 17th ave on the way back and follow Chandler Blvd. This is where the big hill is at and you can squeeze an extra couple miles out of it as well. The good part about doing a Pecos out and back is if someone breaks down or is having problems, they can be seen on the way back. There are pros and cons to this route. Pros: short loop increments let you choose your distance and less worry about bonking half way into a 35mile loop, hills and flats, pretty simple course. Cons: doing the same loop gets a little boring and you have to drive a little more to get there.

I'm really down for what ever, as long as it includes some saddle time.

But maybe the GABA weird route is weird for a reason.....because they are the good biking roads, and the other more obvious/straight routes are not good/safe for biking.  I don't know enough about the area to know.

The 202 ends or sort of turns into pecos. basically you can take the 202 to park and ride. As for traffic, there are cars, but the bike lane is wide enough for 2 wide most of the way. if youre riding at 6, theres not a lot of traffic. i havent ridden from kiwanas to pecos, but id assume there is just as much traffic on the way. once youre on chandler blvd the bike lane gets tighter to almost non exitant at poins. thats why its by bypased on the route. i have to run out there this afternoon for work, ill check it out while im there

I am just posing a question here: for those of you that know the approximate location of my place (near lake Pleasant) - is it possible to bike from my place to the meeting spot and make it by 6 am - or more likely that I would arrive at the start of the second loop?  I have a 6 hour bike on tap for the weekend and a little company for at least a portion would be very welcome indeed!

You just need to read our blogs, Scott. Haha.  J/k.....ride was good. Nice route, eventhough we didn't follow it to a T.  Just enough climbing to keep you honest.  Traffic was light and the roads were nice.  The only bad thing is the bagle/coffee place right where we met up was NASTY.  So no eating breakfast there in the future.

Hey T - I noticed an Einsteins less then a mile north from where we parked so that would be a good one!

OH good! I was starting to think the Waffle house would be better!  FYI...I stopped and got an iced coffee and the veggie bagel.  It was a dry, nasty bagel with thinly sliced tomatoes, a few roasted peppers, thinly sliced avocado, and feta cheese.  SO thinly sliced, that when I unwrapped my bagel on the drive home....I thought it was just a bagel with nothing in it.  I couldn't even eat it, it was so dry and nasty.  And the chick who made it was less than appealing also.  Just not one of those people you want making your food.  (Sitting out front with her Harley boyfriend, stroking and messing with her long hair while smoking a cigarette).  Mmmm....now come handle my food!

When I used their bathroom they had this whole sign about how FRESH and wonderful everything was. How theirbagels are local from chompies, deli meats local from who knows where, etc. SO WEIRD! I do remember seeing the chick who worked there FLY in (she was late) with her hair sopping wet and run in while people were standing outside waiting for it to open!

YUCK!

Sorry for going back to my "old self" not reading blogs.  LOL, unfortunately I've been real busy at work.  I started to read some of your blogs today, sounds like great training and poor choice of food.  I'm down for this sunday, even though my sprint plan only calls for 11 miles of easy riding.
