I'm going to New York in about 2 weeks. It's starting to stress me out. I just booked a different hotel because the last one didn't have any parking.

Plus I have my written exams the beginning of the week we are living. I'm getting really stressed.

I like NY. Why is it stressing you out?

Getting ready for the exams.  They're a big deal and I have to pass.

Getting ready for the tri and the trip.  It's a little overwhelming right now to think about it all.

I think is someone is a complete beginner you have to start with the basics..... biggest annual sporting even in the world, its 23 days with two rest days, a different course each year. TT and mountain stages, flat stages etc

Then who rides it and why....maybe one thread per Jersey? and some team info...

Then the details on strategy and ettiquette

Then some history....

It does sound like a lot to deal with... try to focus on one bit at the time if you can maybe? Break it into manageable tasks that you an tick off as you get towards the date?

I'm trying.  The trip is less stressful now that the parking situation is taken care of.  I just want to be able to focus on the exams and getting in the right mindset for them.

very understandable

try not to think about it all at once, if that's possible

sounds like the exams are the next thing - once they are done, move on to the trip preparations

I know..........easier said than done

I know that you East Coasters probably won't read this until the morning, but I had a flippin' awesome Tues night tri club ride tonight. We did a 14 mile tempo ride, and I kept up with the "A" group for the first 7 - on Sophie! I wasn't drafting the whole way, either, just out by myself, averaging 21-22 at times, one draft I was pushing 24 - on a single gear!

This the day after riding 56 and I ran 3 miles this morning

Well, at least one of us East Coasters is still around. (I just wrote a spreadsheet for the July Run challenge.)

CONGRATULATIONS on keeping up with the A group on Sophie, especially after the ride yesterday.

Sounds like you (and Sophie) had fun!

barqhead - 2008-07-01 12:59 PM Hi, Nibbs. Having a bummer of a day today. Flatted 20 minutes into my ride, couldn't get the tire changed, had to be rescued by a nice passer-by who knew how to change the tire. Sometimes things suck and you should just stay in bed

ooh.. so sorry to hear your ride was rough. I suppose I should actually GET a spare to bring along with me in hopes I would get someone else that could change it for me! Yeah... I really am not biking safe. I just bring my cell phone and figure I can call someone to come get me!
