Emmanem - 2010-03-16 10:18 AM HEY BEASTIES!!!!

I am so far behind in reading posts there's no way I can catch up.... Hope everyone is having a good week so far.  I am on spring break (WOOOHOOOO!!!!) Unfortunately I have shin splints right now so I'm resting my shins hoping they'll get better before my 10k in 11 days.  Good news is that it looks like I'll finally be getting a bike soon. Nothing fancy just a bike as right now I just want to get started and do my first tri in May.  I figure once I get out of college and get a full time job I can start looking at getting a really good road/tri bike.  Have a great Tuesday everyone!!!

yeah for spring break...ouch for the shin splints.... yeah for the bike! I bought my bike at the end of the season and it was the year before model. It had no frills to it and I have slowly "up graded" parts, like new spd peddles, areo bars(that I won at ladies night) and just recently a new saddle.

Good morning bEASTies!  I'll be getting a swim in today inbetween my afternoon meeting and the evening board meeting.  Then I'll just sit there with goggle eyes and let them all wonder what I've been up to or am on.  LOL

rnihill - 2010-03-15 4:34 PM So, my Monday is shaping up!! Got my swim in. No sick calls from school. AND we paid off a loan today so hubby wants to celebrate!! His theory is that Wednesday is St. Patricks Day and Thurs/Fri is basketball.. so TODAY needs to be the celebration day. He's bringing yummy food home for dinner after the kids are in bed. Yeah!!
You know... reading back through this... when did I plan to work out the rest of the week??

Lol, that sounds like my week every week, haha!  Luckily i have a lot of tri/runner friends who think it's fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by running around from one Irish Bar to another, taking a shot at each bar.  So that'll make for a nice interval workout in addition to being very festive for St. Patty's Day. Wink

Now that sounds like fun!

dermoski - 2010-03-16 1:41 PM I will likely be having a few seated - no running - drinks tomorrow after work...I live in a University town - there's no effin' way I'll get into an Irish pub.  However, my local will always let me in...

I should "run" to the dollar store tonight and get some fun accessories!  It's warm and sunshiney...I just had lunch on the patio (bit cool - still had a jacket on), but the sun felt soooo good.  The snow is completely melted.  I even saw a bee, can you believe that?

It has been great weather here too! The snow is all gone....until Saturday when we are supposed to get 7 inches! Spring in WI is such a tease!

One more thing:  Do you mind if I toot my own horn a bit?  Today, at the pool I swam a PR of 100 yds at 1:29.  OK, I know it was only ONE 100, but I'll take it!  Now, if I could just do that for 2.4 miles, I'd be set.

TOOOT TOOOOT there I helped you! Way to go.

KOM - 2010-03-16 6:22 PM I know I won't have enough OWS time to feel comfortable and I have been too busy at work lately.  Work finances are a mess and I am going to have to forgo a paycheck for the next month or more.  The expense of buying a wetsuit and the race is too much right now.  I also want to attend a conference that is the same day as the race.   It will be an important chance to make some work contacts.  Arghh, I feel like I am just making excuses but I think it is best.  There is a HIM in September I could do.

You need to be in the "right" place for this to be fun! There are lots of races and plenty of time for you to do the HIM, if not this year, next. enjoy your other races and have a great time at the conference!

Great post yesterday but I am ignoring it until next month ok?  - LOL!

Thanks Bill!  For those who don't get over to the enemy T.W.I.S.T.E.R. thread, I was feeling a little competitive yesterday and in the mood for a little trash talk.  Here's the message I left on their thread...

Hello team T.W.I.S.T.E.R.
Hi, I'm Bill from the Beginner Triathlete I.T. department.  I'm here to inform you that you're team has too many posts and you should all reduce your number of posts to a maximum of 2 PER WEEK through the end of this challenge.  Unless, of course, your BT status is "Muck Raker" or "Dork Face", in which case you should post only once per week.

Furthermore... your prolific BT logs are jamming up our servers, so the I.T. department respectfully asks that you significantly decrease the volume of your workouts.  Heck, it's St. Patty's day, so why not just take the rest of the month off?  Rest is nice.  Rest is good.  Grab a green beer and blow off that workout.  Triathlon training is REEEEEALLY hard.  Maybe do some bowling or some basket weaving.

We appreciate your support,
The BT.com I.T. Department

Have a great day everyone!

My wife and I were awoken to the lovely sounds of child-puking last night... Did ya ever notice that $^*$%!#$*! never happens at noon, it's always 1:30 in the freaking morning?!?!?  Anyway, we were up and down for several hours and my morning workout became a casualty of the situation.  I'm going to make a valiant effort toget to the gym around 3 today for a treadmill run, but the work schedule may not cooperate.  ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

ebshot - 2010-03-17 6:56 PM So, after four or five years of getting Cole's hearing tested and him failing the test, we are FINALLY GOING TO GET HIM HEARING AIDS!!!

I'm a little excited.  They are submitting the insurance paperwork and hopefully we will be getting him his aids in four weeks or so.  As long as the insurance company approves.  I don't see why they would deny it but stranger things have happened!

Yeah! I wish I could see the expression on his face the first time he wears them! Ohhh the things he will hear!

I love the strange looks I get with goggle eyes... You can tell they are wondering if they should ask about them or not.

Actually, even better was the other day when I forgot my goggles and I had to come back to work with REALLY red eyes (even after eye drops). I really had them wondering!

I have a pair of Classics and a pair of the KSO's; I love walking around the house, etc, but haven't yet tried running in them. I'm not sure my knees and ankles will really let me run without motion control/stability/etc but I'm dying to try.

I don't think we ever dealt with midnight retching, but we had a lot of midnight screaming from painful ear infections. Back in the mid 90's it was much harder to find 24hr pharmacies. Fun times indeed!
