Did a local 15k road race today, not bad, 1h17m flat, about an 8:15 pace, pretty happy with it as i passed the 10k at 52mins and 7mile mark sub an hour. I really struggled the last mile, it was a hilly course and i was pretty tired from the past couple of days.  MY run has come so far from last year, i am pretty stoked.

Anyone hear how Elaine did or is doing??

Great run Rudey. Nice pacing on what sounds like a tough course.

I have a 2.5 hour bike ride on my plan today.  Along with a swim.  I just cannot take off for 2.5 hours, as much as I would love to, as they do expect me to work part of the day at least.  lol  I thought about changing my speed ride to day and get that on the trainer after work, then I could do the longer ride when I don't have to double up.  I can at least still ride outside which makes the trainer more tolerable.  What are folks thoughts though to eliminating the long ride during the week (well, the medium ride really) and instead riding more often, an hour at a time?  I can sometimes get a 2 hour ride in when I am not doubling up but it's tough cause that is not just 2 hours, it's showering and stuff as well.  I can still get in my long rides on the weekend.  If this was the summer it'd be less issues cause the sun would be actually out and I could get it in before work.

I had a pretty busy weekend so not much time checking in on BT.  I was able to get in a good 90 minute bike on Saturday and 75 minute run on Sunday with a hockey game last night.

Fred:  That has to be tough being alert for 48 hours straight.  My wife has to be on call for a week at time twice a year for work.  We get lots of calls in the middle of the night and she can never get back to sleep so makes for a long week.  Hope you were able to get some rest.

Taking my monday rest day.  Hope to tackle my long run tomorrow morning.

RR is up!

Quads are shot, back, calves, shoulders are sore.

Otherwise, I'm ok

Looking forward to some rest, easy spins, and easy swims when I feel up to it!

I just tend to take a few weeks easy, spinning, swimming, easy runs and then just start upping my volume again when my runs feel good.

Depends on the race and effort, i am sore as hell today, from this weekends effort, but i will just take today off.

i remember last year after my half, i was ready to go 2 days later with no lingering soreness and actually had my best bike race of the year 1 week later.

it all depends on how far into the hurt locker i go or how well trained i am, sometimes i feel worse after a short hard race than a longer effort.
