Can we wear these shirts for the race?

And then you run in a wedding get up...I mean this is a costume thing right?

OK...its late...see...I get a little loopy late at night.

I would like to point out to my fellow "East Siders" that I could use your support/attendance on my first planned 'West Side' ride this Sunday.  I think you will enjoy the wide shoulders of the Carefree Hyway and would like to think that my company alone would be enough to tempt you!

Paulettejo - 2008-07-31 12:07 PM These rides always look awesome...long...but awesome...http://www.bullshifters.org/routes.html and west side

This is only about a 30ish mile loop - and the bullshifters ride at 23-26 mph So they are out of my league!

Meet at Reach 11 Sports complex at Cave Creek and Deer Valley intersection in Peoria, AZ

West  on deer valley from Reach 11 to 19th AVE

North on 19th AVE (it becomes North Valley PKWY)

Continue on N Valley Pkwy to 27th AVE

Continue North on 27th to Hyway 74 (Carefree Hyway)

East on Carefree to Cave Creek road (Nice 3 mile climb right after the turn)

South on Cave Creek to Reach 11

Breakfast at Deer Valley airport.

If I new how to make a map, there would be - however the streets described turn into each other (19th - NValley - 27th) so really is is a big square like tour de Gilbert on with light hills.

Bullshifters eat at the airport all the time - the strip mall has The good egg, and I think an Einstiens.  I'll check it tomorrow.

For the record - this is a guy from ESCKTC planning a ride.  Simply stating that in the past I left all the real planning to the women as they were so much better at it! :)

The thing about a group ride is that we all need to meet at the same time - I had offered 7 am, but perfer 6 am.  However, those coming from Tucson and Gilbert need time to get there.  To that end, I suggest 6:30 am as a compromise.

I hope all can still make it (those that show up late will just have to hope they average 30 plus mph to catch up.

So hear ye, hear ye:

6:30 am at Reach 11 Sports complex!

All welcome - no drop (or at least Jerry will come back for you!)

No Host Breakfast at Deer valley airport after - (8:30 - 9:00am ish?)

Not as hilly as Flagstaff, but not flat (which gives the opportunity for some downhill speed!

Church after at your own discretion and location (personally that leaves me out, but I deal ok!)

Ok.  6:30 it is then.  Looks like I am dragging Aaron along.  Although once I tell him how early I will be picking him up, he may have second thoughts.  Especially when I tell him he needs to go to starbucks first and get me some love for the ride!! heeehee!

And only 30 miles?  Jerry...I come all this way for just 30?  We should have done 2 loops of 30 or sometin.  (This is what happens when the guys are left to plan things.)

If you think we can be done by 9:30ish - I am up for two loops (AVG 20 mph with some hills if we start right on time)  however, I promised to pick up anyone dropped so we may need to average a bit faster than that 30-33ish!!

I re-rode this loop this morning before work.  Even then there was little to no traffic except the Carefree Hyway.  One construction issue about two blocks long and a strech of less than a mile without a bike lane/shoulder - but very doable/fun!  To make my morning complete I even ate at the airport.  I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the loop!

SO here is my re-capped deal:

Those meeting at 6:30 can expect a no drop ride - either we split in groups or I return for all stragglers at key points (turns).

I made reservations for 8-10 people, but can shrink or expand the number if I call them on the ride (yup, I am a guy that likes to date a group all at once and still makes plans that include reservations! ).

I need a slightly longer ride that day before visiting Sin City for the week so I am doing a warm-up loop at quarter to 5.  If you feel froggy and have ridden with me before, I am starting on time so as not to miss the group ride start.

6:30 sharp we roll out of the parking lot of Reach 11 (either my car - IM_JER, or the bosses SUV - IMSHERI) will be in the correct lot already and only a few meters from the bathrooms)

If your first ride - bring a tube/CO2!  I have never flatted on this ride, but there are parts that me and a dtraggler do not want to have to search surronding bush for items to fix road tires!

As for Tanya laughing at the clipless challenged - I fell not once or even twice, but three times in two consecutive rides chipping my elbow and being laughed at by her!  But she did help me load my bike and send me packing so I forgave her!

Bring enough water for a couple of hours as there is only one actual hill but several rollers and gradual inclines until a 8 mile mostly downhill ride to the finish!

I (and several others of us) ride tri-bikes, so think safety!

Would everyone be up for South Mountain with the 5kers? We could meet about 7:15 or 7:30 to start the ride. Then breakfast afterward?

AUG 10 RIDE

See the 5k thead as we are riding after the race.  Ride will probably start at 7:45-8:00 at the 40th St and Pecos Park and Ride if you are just interested in the ride.

2 weeks ago when we did the west side ride, we talked about perhaps setting up a weekly West side ride, and East side ride, with maybe a once a month or once every two months "meet in the middle" ride so we can all come together.  ......so this is open for discussion....  please discuss....

Since we have been doing a lot of shorter rides with more climbing, I would like to propose a FLAT route this coming Sunday like a Tour de Gilbert loop.  I need to get some more miles/time on my butt!!!  I know our original loop is messed up by Pecos construction, but this modified route gives us 1 loop of just under 26 miles.  2 loopers could get in a 52 mile bike ride.  Start at Joes Farm Grill at 6am for 2 loopers.  Should take 1:30ish to do one loop.  So loop 2 could be ready to roll at 7:45am.  Should finish us up around 9:30ish.  Food to follow at Joes Farm Grill.

Sunday, Aug 17 - East Side East Side Cool Kids Ride:

Route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2159853

Food and Start point: Ray Rd just east of Higley: http://www.joesfarmgrill.com/

What say yee????  As always, I am open to whatever.  I just need to start getting some longer rides in.  People were already asking "What's next weeks ride?" So I thought I would throw it out here.
