Thanks for the feedback on the distance. Maybe I'll go ahead and sign up then. Worst that happens is I walk alot on the run.

Grats on the progressive increase on speed there with a hill and everything. Hills are not our friends.

Great job Tracy, It feels great to get those quicker miles in.  I have been amazed at how much faster I have gotten this summer by just sticking to the plan.

Sorry been absent a few days, swamped at work and played in a golf tournament yesterday, 3rd place woo hoo!

Heading to Disney World on Sunday, hopefully dodging hurricanes.

Oh and LOL, thanks for coordinating with my wife Tracey.  I said hey when is the Army 10 miler, I wanted to meet up with a person in my Mentor group.  She said we won't be in town and Tracy and I have allready talked to each other about it because we knew you would forget...  Come on now give me a bit of credit here...

It's the sprints Tracy, the sprints.
Now let's dicsuss that punishment you were talking about if you ever meet Steve or myself. Congratulations on the great time.

Baowolf: Way to go Steve. Once signed up for the HIM you are locked in and ready to go. Hoping to do one myself next year

I was going out for a long swim last night. Was going to see if I could hit 2000 m. When I got to the pool at 9:00 pm ( past my bedtime lol) the lap pool was closed. It will open again today but the lap lanes were only open at 6:30 am and I was babysitting. Now no swim until Sunday unless I can do 2000 m in my 15 ft above ground pool.

Tony, don't take it personally.  Your wife and I have full confidence in you.  But if I'm going to be the only woman in this group I have to reach out to the wives for my female support   Seriously though, lets try for another time.  My inlaws live just outside of Baltimore and we are up that way a lot.

Rob, you could swim that distance in your pool, just go around and around and around and around..........................................

Rob, the pool I usualy swim in is like 12 yards long, so that's nearly 150 laps per mile. Today, however is ice cold mountain lake open water swim. I am cold already. You could tie on a bungi or 2 and swim against the resistance. 8)

BTW anyone figure out how to workout 6-7 days a week and still get in 2 recovery days. Are they pushing a 9 day week through congress or something?

Funny you should mention the bungie cord. I was actually looking at that idea as I can attach to the stairs and as you said swim against the resistance. I have tried just hooking my feet on the stairs but then I only get an arm workout and I can only hold onto the stairs for so long.
Tracy I tried swimming around the pool and would be very good rounding buoys now but I keep running into the stairs.
Amazing what we will do to keep training.

K the I have gone and signed up for the Windman IX HIM in Los Banos, CA. They have my money so now I have to be ready for it 8).

Hrm I think my resting heart rate is up a bit. And not just because of that pic. Oh well, it is the last HIM anywhere within like 400 miles of me for this year so might as well learn how its done.

They do expect folks to complete it in 6 hours... that seems a bit fast, but I might be able to pull it off. Oh well too late now. All prayers are welcome.

From the looks of your training you don't need the prayers but we will be anxiously waiting to see how you did. You didn't mention when the race was.

EVERYONE!!! I WANT EVERYONE TO TAKE A SECOND AND TALK ABOUT THEMSELVES FOR ONCE.....

What was your greatest success since you started in this group?  Greatest Failure?  Where do you see yourself 6 months from now?

More importantly.... What are you doing this weekend!

We often spend time on this forum talking about others, and their issues/success/zits, etc... Talk about yourselfs for once!  Let's hear it!

I think my greatest moment was meeting all of you....especially our one and only Tracy
Really I think my greatest moment was finishing my first triathlon. Each one after that has been great as I have moved up distances consistently.
Greatest failure. ????? I think my last race because I did not train properly and I know I could have done much better, Even though I felt good after the race. Funny how on the races I did OK on I didnt' feel as good about the race after finishing as on the last one where I know I could have done better and still felt great after the race.
Where do I see myself in 6 months. In the snow in Guelph. By March of next year I hope I will be almost ready for an HIM although I will start the year with an OLY. I think a jump from sprint to HIM would be too big unless I get into some extra long distance training over the winter.

I would like to take a second and say how great it has been in this support group. You have all been very helpful in working with a newbie to keep me encouraged and inspired. The camraderie developed will last long into the future I'm sure.

For me, there is a difference between a bragging right and my proudest moment.  My biggest bragging right is my ability on a bike.  I can ride for 50-60 miles with a group of guys and average 18mph and have earned their respect as a solid bike rider FOR A GUY!  That makes me feel pretty cool

My proudest moments have been my running distances.  I come from such a crappy running background that I never thought I would be able to accomplish what I have.  I never understood people who enjoyed running, but I get it now. That and my oldest daughter wanting to race in tris – how cool is that?

My funnies moment has got to be the Seaweed Monster swim.

My hardest challenge, aside from my Olympic in a few weeks, has been balancing my training with my family.  My husband trains too and with the kids, I am the first one to sacrifice my training for the needs of my family.  However, my girls have been my biggest supporters in that they NEVER whine or complain about my ever leaving them to go train.  They actually get a kick out of seeing me running when they drive by with daddy and have even commented, “why are you home so early?” when I cut a run short.

My most inspiring moments come when I am training. I am amazed at myself time and time again at how I am willing to push myself, that I am proud of my accomplishments, no matter how small, because I made them.  I don’t compare myself to others and run myself down – I am excited for other’s achievements and am very proud when you guys share in mine.    I train because it makes me love myself and I race because it is fun!

In six months I want to have completed at least a ½ marython.  That is my weakest event and I would love to conquer that.  Maybe I’ll be brave and go for the full Mary.  But I know myself and I really hate the cold!!!! So training in it will bring on a flood of excuses.

Joining this group has expanded the world of tris to a whole new level.  I seriously think we need to do a destination HIM next year and race together.  Just me and my boys

Why do you say they expect you to complete it in 6 hours?  Is that the sag wagon time or rather the average time posted?  I agree that sounds on the faster end of an average.  Is it an ocean swim?  I have no idea where Los Banos is, sorry?  From your past posts you seem to enjoy stretching yourself training so this should be right up your alley. Will the pool be done in time to be effective for your training?

Hey Steve. I would think that 6 hours for a HIM is very short. Especially given our esteemed leaders Steve's time of about 12 hours for a IM and he was well ahead of a lot of other competitors. I was talking to one guy at my last race who had recently completed an HIM in just under 8 hours and he was in pretty good shape if a little older than me.
