CLOSED TriAya - 2013-02-19 1:48 PM HAHAHA I just talked to a guy at Koobi (my saddle brand) since mine just blew apart, 10 days out from IMNZ, awesome!!! They can get a new one to me in NZ in 4 days! He asked me what kind of training I did and what happened to it. "Well, I've trained for three Ironmans on it ... " Silence. "Hello, are you--" "THREE IRONMANS?! Yeah ... we recommend you replace the saddle at 400 hours max. I mean, a lot of them go a lot longer but by that time the foam's not supporting you like it should. How many running shoes you go through?" Good point. Also, the saddle is $80, which is approximately the cost of a pair of runnies. Durrrrr ... hehehe...Sounds like an emoticon moment for both of you. Elite 4435 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED Well Manatees I have my share of issues, emotional etc. BUT at work I always act professionally, I get it done, even when it infuriates me - if I'm having a meltdown I'm in the bathroom and emerge composed! My colleague right now is having a complete mental breakdown. She is swearing and carrying on about stuff - it's only work, we are not saving lives - we are despatching leather belts to stores around the country - it doesn't matter. There is absolutely no need for her behaviour, and the tears. So far I've ignored it but I'm gonna have to tackle it in a few moments, I want her to calm down first. Clearly there is more to this than meets the eye. I had another colleague telling me about his break up yesterday, now I'm gonna hear this one's drama. Look I'm empathetic, sympathetic to a point, supportive..... BUT I just don't need it. What can I do - I got one of those faces people confide in me! |

You may be right but more often than not our feelings aren't exactly rational. I'll bet they have very little to do with belts. A little gentleness and kindness goes a long way. After all, you yourself have vented a time or two, no? Ah I had a chat with her, I was just venting on here. She feels overloaded and she's missing the simplest things at work because she's too stressed. I have asked her to hand stuff to me but she much like me hates to do that! I know she is trying to get pregnant so that is adding to the stress I'm sure. We are best friends and in my two years here I've gotten to know how she ticks - she goes crazy then all the problems kind of settle down and she apologises for being a drama queen. I just had my daughter having a huge meltdown this morning, I thought I'd had my quota for the day...no. anyway - went and ran and feel better and she is fine now. I think she will be off sick tomorrow which will do her good. Poor love. And you're absolutely right, it's nothing to do with belts! |

Veteran 1100 Dayton | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED The Chicago marathon registration page had mega problems today. (Maybe it's because 30k actually were able to register). Anyhow, I wasn't one of them. There's still 15k spots left. Hopefully I get one of them. Although, I must say I had a very poor session tonight at the master's swim, and it shook me up a little. Gotta be consistent with this endurance stuff if I'm going to take it seriously! I couldn't even swim my normal 50 in :30. Did two at :35. Phooey. The good news is that while my ankle still hurt, I wasn't forced to use resort to the pull buoy. |

Aw we all have days like that - I just did a rotten run, my calves were so tight until about 5km then I hit the downhill and felt good. It was a cr*ppy run. I just file it away. I could easily have turned around and gone back but I kept with it. Good luck getting in to Chicago. |
